Thanks for giving our players props, there's this weird attitude towards Villa that our players just aren't that good as we haven't spent £100m+ on them. Like, am I taking Caicedo or Enzo over Luiz? Absolutely not. Our midfield cost £17.5m but there are very very few players who have been better in the entire league.
Villa are good and properly so. Every single one of Villa players could get into City or Arsenal, and I am picking all of them over any United, Spurs or Chelsea player. Proper coaching works and Villa are proving it once again. Hopefully, you can keep all your players over the next few seasons because a season or two together and nobody can know how good they'll be.
Mcgin is the best midfielder in villa for me but Luiz,Tielemans and Kamara are equally important and does their role well. We are a little weak without Kamara against Bournemouth. Need cover for him Luiz keep ticking the ball around and occasional dangerous forward pass Tielemans is getting better and better, get into dangerous position and those killer ball. Mcgin has many killer ball as well and the way he shield the ball is awesome. I wouldn't swap any of villa midfielder for anyone, maybe except Declan rice. Enzo and Caicedo are crap, worth maybe 10 mil pound the most.
I like the Konza kid in defence too ! Going to be an England starter in the next 2 seasons esp considering that he's a good on the ball, pacy, centerback who plays fullback, which appears to be the fancy now.

Aston Villa had Man city 4v4 time and time again. The key for Arsenal will be to make sure that when Aston Villa are passing it around at the back they keep the back 4 and Rice behind Kamara, Luiz and the front 2. Because as soon as the press comes in, they will hit it long or play it fast through McGinn and Baily and have that 4v4 fast break. The key to beating Villa is not to press too aggressively, because they stay at home with the back 6 + the goalkeeper and it is really tough to press the ball off them. If you get impatient then the ball goes over the top and you are 4v4 again. It is a very simple and effective tactic, and not unlike the one Man Utd sir Alex used to use to hit people on the counterattack, although they transitioned out of defence quicker to get their 3v3s and 4v4s. The press wasn't as much of a thing back then. My guess is that it is going to be 0-0 or one goal will win it. Depending who makes the mistake. I don't think Villa will win the title, but they are a solid top 4 and a dangerous opponent for all the top sides, simply because I think they will drop too many points to the teams lower down the division that park the bus and wont play into their tactics.
As a city fan, I can't see how pep can play Akanji as a pivot and still expect the same results as if a proper midfielder was playing there. Kovacic and Phillips aren't great, but they would do the job to compliment the other great players we have.
When the system works perfectly like it did and everyone is on their game it nullifies the opposition and then you get comments like that said team was playing poor.

They went from a free flowing team to one whose objective was to get the ball to Haaland and last season showed how successful that was. However losing Gundogan and Mahrez, De Bruyne being out and Phillips not good enough has highlighted a weakness in that stopping Haaland getting the ball stops city.
I am genuinely curious why this tactic for Villa aint working away from home, I mean they literally turned villa park into a fortress but have been up and down away from home.
genuinely our away form isnt as awful as people make it out to be, especially as half of our away games this season have been against top half teams. We've won 3, lost 3 and drew 2, performances have definitely not been at the level of our home games, but thats not a surprise. Most teams perform better at home. If we continue current PL form for the rest of the season (obviously unlikely, lot of potential issues, especially if we continue progress in Europe), we will end on 83 points, which would put us in the top 3 in the league, based on the last 5 seasons.

Generally Villa fans don’t think so - last season at home to Newcastle (3-0) was a better performance. The Liverpool game was built on making the most of errors, and had moments where Liverpool played well. What was most striking about Wednesday night was that Villa did to City what they themselves have done to weaker teams countless times… completely dominated the match and eventually got the goal that had been coming since kick off.
Just to kind of echo what he (^) said, that 7-2 was spectacular, but I'm not even sure it was our best performance of that season. The 3-0 away at Arsenal a couple of weeks later was arguably better. @user-ed7et3pb4o Yeah, I agree with that, and have been criticised on some Villa pages for pointing it out. They were all over us at the start of the second half, then Watkins added our fourth from nowhere and that sealed the game. Similar could be said for the West Ham game, as well. We deserved to win, but Watkins also scored from nowhere in that game when we were under pressure, to make it 3-1.
It will be Interesting to see whether Villa are actually good enough to win the return game at the Etihad (or lose it, as usual) .... and whether they are consistent enough to actually finish ABOVE City in the table at the end of the season!

our best win was destroying liverpool 7-2. But this is a close second. In terms of performance, this was our best ever. We made treble winners look like they are relegation strugglers.
Id say this one was a little bit better. We were super lucky with some bounces (we world have won that anyway im pretty sure). But here against City, it was just a brutal tactical destruction
The 7-2 was great, but I've always felt that the 3-0 away at Arsenal a few weeks after was a better performance. The 3-0 at home to Newcastle last season was the best I had ever seen a Villa team play in over 30 years of watching them, until Wednesday night.
@@szpyrk0 yes, that's exactly what i meant. The only disappointment against man city was that we did not win 3-0 or 4-0. The 7-2 at liverpool, we didnt play anywhere near as well as we did againt man city, but we took our chances. Was a better win, not a better performance.

our best win was destroying liverpool 7-2. But this is a close second. In terms of performance, this was our best ever. We made treble winners look like they are relegation strugglers.
Id say this one was a little bit better. We were super lucky with some bounces (we world have won that anyway im pretty sure). But here against City, it was just a brutal tactical destruction
Tell me you don't know ball without telling me you don't know ball 😂
The 7-2 was great, but I've always felt that the 3-0 away at Arsenal a few weeks after was a better performance. The 3-0 at home to Newcastle last season was the best I had ever seen a Villa team play in over 30 years of watching them, until Wednesday night.
@@szpyrk0 yes, that's exactly what i meant. The only disappointment against man city was that we did not win 3-0 or 4-0. The 7-2 at liverpool, we didnt play anywhere near as well as we did againt man city, but we took our chances. Was a better win, not a better performance.
@@allovdem please teach me.
Arsenal did the same thing in October one short answer Rodri
Except Arsenal didn’t do the same thing. They didn’t dominate the same way.
Could've been way worse for City
Everyone celebrates when city loses 🫡
Never seen City so bashed up the 💩er so hard since peps first season.
“Their best win since they returned to the premier league.”
So we’re just ignoring the fuckin demolition job we did on Liverpool then?
That was luck, this was tactics.
Of course, hence the point it was the weakest City team in 10 years, especially in midfield. People got this horribly wrong, he had 3 midfielders on the bench!!!
Kalvin Phillips would’ve been better than Alvarez in that position
Basically what Rangnick's been tryin to do in United if only the players werent so lazy and uncoachable
They will.destroy Arsenal
It is just bad dream for city please do not think overhead city is still king of world right now
