Drag Racing MAVERICK Suspension FAIL

- This racer was having a bad day when his Ford Maverick went over one time then ass into the wall. He did a hell of a job off trying to reel it in but it appears something may have broken in the rear suspension.
Never had that problem with my grabber. I just keep it a 6 cylinder lol

It's possible something in the rear suspension broke on the launch, and that may have caused him to shoot to the right and get out of the groove as soon as the wheels came up. He was done as soon as the car got out of the groove. And joker, these suspensions aren't shitty. There are guys going deep into the 7's on leaf spring suspensions. They work!
+reef lx I agree. people think you can't be fast unless you have expensive multi-link suspensions. the 69 dart gts in my pictures was a leaf spring suspension on the stock 8 3/4 rear end. in the early 80's on street tires, we were turning 10'3 @131. there are some very quick leaf spring cars, although not as many these days
Sure looks like driver error to me. If there was a failure in the suspension it wasnt too obvious. Nothing waving loose as the car shows its downside up . I am inclined to not ignore the the obvious
really? did you not watch the second angle? it's quite clear that something in the passenger side rear isn't right.
These type of cars are too heavy and when something like that happens, it’s all over.

By the way, I don't see a "suspension fail". I see a car that was lined up crooked, could probably use a rear sway bar, went wheels up toward the wall (see "lined up crooked"), was in the marbles when the wheels came back down, and had a series of overcorrections until *bang*
After reading a few comments, and then watching the video again. I believe your analysis, sounds most correct.
Looks more like a broken axle issue to me.

this makes me a little scared about my project maverick. Was it driver error? what can be done to avoid this? I'll want to make sure I don't repeat this drivers mistakes.
As other comments say, it seems the driver just over corrected with a big correction instead of a small adjustment and sent the tall car over. Roll bar/helmet saved his life. Nothing to worry about on your Maverick, just dont go drag racing a wheely capable car without proper driving skill and practice beforehand.
So does that mean the car is totalled? I've heard a car is totalled if the roof pillars take too much damage.
Have one with the same problem... Broken ball joint. Tends to break lose if you don't lube them properly.

suspension fail my ass. that was a driver fail. he lost it when he shifted. which is another reason why to use an auto for drag racing

Mavericks have horrible suspension to begin with....then add a driver who doesn't know how to drive with no wheelie bars.....priceless.
