Before the wrestling, Peter was British Open judo champion (while doing an apprenticeship at Rolls Royce). I remember he went to live and compete in Japan to further his judo. Soon after arriving, he threw their then Olympic champion for ipon in a competition (ie a full match winning throw). It was unthinkable, but Pete did it. At that point he made every Judo fan in Japan a fan of Pete Thornley. They loved him, but eventually he came home for family reasons and took up professional wrestling. I knew some of his fellow wrestlers, and they were wary of Pete. In fact he was suspended twice for lengthy periods for ‘excessive violence’ (in fact, ‘kicked out’ would be more accurate for one of them). That’s why there was a big gap in his appearances on television. It was a bit political (the guy who owned the sport - Max Crabtree - was the brother of Big Daddy, who Pete kept beating up), but there was some truth to it and hopefully Pete now accepts that. Max and ITV just couldn’t risk having him on live TV with kids watching. Pete has done a lot of great things for charity all his life, but especially since retiring. I am please to see him talking on camera at last.
Wait I thought Hogan beat him first, be telling me HH was not the bass player for Metallica or the Randy character in the wrestler . Stop lying about Hulk Hogan , he is an honest and humble man .
I remember Kendo on ITV world of sport with Dickie Davis When kendo lost and was unmasked and we saw the red rabbit eyes ,to this day still a strong memory E from downunder 🦘.
Yes I was there that night eating a packet of pickled onion Space Raiders when he slammed Andre. The experience of seeing that was great. I also witnessed Ahmed Johnson and his red G-string, body slamming Yokozuna
Clever guy, my favourite UK wrestler, lots of great memories.
He was one of the GOAT wrestlers.I liked it when he defeated Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.
Kendo Nagasaki the man of mystery and a great wrestler.

Ahhhh ........ the heady days of British Wrestling on 'World of Sport' on a Saturday, it was wonderful. WWE pales in comparison.
Red Eyes 👀 World Of Sport Saturday Afternoons 😅
He's from Wolverhampton.
Tyson & Bruno were friends, so I think they were a bit easy on each other, Bruno has a habit of not following through, Tyson does follow through
Whats that got to do with this ?

I was there I think it was back in 43, there was ghost and ghoulies.
@@hermanthetosser4219 🤣Ghosts and Goblins was a great game. I wonder if Kendo ever played it?
If he in fact did, it would have been a young, thin and reasonably light Andre
