One interpretation I have also heard is that there was a lot of human and child sacrifice going on during that time and it looks like it was a test of Abraham faith it was also God telling Abraham through the test and then stopping him that he wasn’t a God that accepts or would demand human sacrifice like the other so called gods were accepting and requiring.
This reminds me of the gig economy. Like people demanding services from people without promising them a living wage. Faith in late capitalism re: cruelty that feels profound.
