      He isnt a natural english speaker, thats why he slows his thought in the course of the exposition.

      MagnumBullets47 I totally get that! English is a hard language to learn for people who don’t grow up speaking it. Nothing against that. Just a helpful tip to watch it a little quicker.

    That was one of the better explanations/summaries I have heard on this book. I have tried to read Kierkegaard and he's difficult to grasp, at least in my experience. Well done.

    This is exactly what I was looking for, a clear and limpid explanation of this amazing philosophical work. Keep up the good work !

    I really enjoyed your interpretation. 'Kierkegaard is trying to teach you how to expect the impossible' is a great way to explain the book's secular, psychological value. Thanks!

    Kierkegaard under rates Abraham's faith by attempting to isolate the single event of Issac's sacrifice. Abraham's responses to God's promises are the real key to understanding his faith.

    Although the philosophy of Kierkegaard is very difficult to understand but your explanation shows that we can all understand Kierkegaard. Thank you very much for doing this great job.

    it is indeed very useful, thank you so much, I was about to read this book, but actually it is so hard to read, as I'm not native English, so it's hard to understand phrases and the whole context fully, but your explanation gives me more than what I want to get it from reading it.

    Thank you, you have made the explanation something that my class can understand. It is profound but can be understood because it was organized very well. Thank you.

    Reading this, I understood the main concepts. But it was all tangled in my brain because Kierkegaard talks in circles. Thank you so much for laying this out so clearly

    God told Abraham that, even though Sara was barren, that he would be the father of nations. Sara then bore Isaac. Abraham recalled that God told him he would be the father of nations and Isaac would now be that proof. So then, when God now told Abraham to make a sacrifice of Isaac on Mount Moriah, he knew God would reprieve his son.

    So the religious is what removed Abraham's act from the ethical, and it was his faith that permitted this movement to occur?

    • @ExistentialistDasein
      @ExistentialistDasein  6 лет назад +2

      It was his faith, but he wasn't removed from the ethical. The religious already contains the ethical within itself.

      Hey thanks!
      Also, the qualities of the knight of resignation is contained WITHIN the knight of faith as well? And the difference is one of acceptance (knight of resignation) while the other accepts and believes in the absurd (knight of faith)?

    • @ExistentialistDasein
      @ExistentialistDasein  6 лет назад +6

      Yes, in Kierkegaard's philosophy, each higher stage (or mode of being) contains the lower stage(s) that the person has overcome. The two knights differ in that the knight of resignation just gives up in the face of the Absurd, whereas the knight of faith has faith that despite the given absurdity all things are possible.
