I hate that the old ads are supposed to display "toxic masculinity", but they just show a bunch of men working hard, loving their women, and engaging with their little babies and children. The only thing toxic here is the idea that a man working hard and caring for his family is toxic.
Also, we haven't bought a single gillette product since this ad came out.

Because it isn't a strategy to make sales. It's a strategy to brainwash the audience. This isn't a secret. Larry Fink, the man who ordered this commercial, is on record saying it. Change has to be ''forced'', he says. He says people will not naturally gravitate towards stuff like the LGBT, environment, politics, etc. It has to be ''forced''. And ESG, which is what paid Gillette for this commercial, is their means of forcing that change. It saddens me to still see people deluded enough to think this is about money. These guys lose billions to in some rare cases trillions annually. Why do you think the past decade has seen such absurd inflation? They're money printing like crazy to compensate for their losses. Losses suffered in their attempt to indoctrinate the people, with moderate success.

The accepted sexual outlets are the soulless options of onlyfans and prostitutes, because anything that inspires actual passion (meant in the broad sense, not just romantic/sexual) is something that could cause you to act against the system in defense/pursuit of it.

Just one little addition- The Hypocrisy of 'The Male Gaze' has been going on a LONG time. Nearly 30 years ago, in the fall of 1993, when I was in College, our Dorm had its own workout room. Most days, after class, I would spend a couple hours exercising. At times the room would get fairly warm, because of the heat pipes that ran through it & I would often take off my shirt to be more comfortable.
One night I finished my workout & on leaving the room came within an inch of colliding with a young woman. As soon as she saw me, her eyes went dinner-plate wide & she exclaimed, "Oh my God! You're HUGE!" Clearly meant as a compliment, I accepted it & left. But later as I thought about it, even then, three decades ago, I thought about what would have happened if the situation had been reversed. If I had exclaimed how hot some girl was that I nearly bumped into.
In days my reputation as a creepy lecher would have been cemented in stone. In the CURRENT era, I might even end up getting expelled.
I want to believe that most people know better than the kind of propaganda displayed in this ad, but the fact is, my Wife, who, when I married her 15 years ago, was a Smart, non-feminist lady, is now completely Woke. Despite not actually changing, I have gone from a Man she thought a great deal of, to a 'Selfish, Betraying, Sexist, Racist, Transphobe, Nazi.'
Still, thanks for putting this analysis out there. I hope it helps someone, somewhere.

I will always own a wife beater even though I've been the one on the end of violence in several abusive relationships, one was my wife who I did everything for ,I have never been the Agressor_NEVER.My proper mother taught me right. I have spent a great deal of my life with NO shirt. I've been cat called by toxic females many times. That last statement was true but just to add some more sarcasm to the frame work. Gillette lost a customer of nearly half a century. Gotta go try to find one thing on WokeFlix I can stomach...ONE. Ive been watching nearly exclusively foreign movies and show.
To invoke "Triumph of the will and 1984"...Despot sir it's obvious you are not F'n around. Like always all I can say is I AGREE

I noticed that too. The wifebeater trope started getting rammed down my throat by scrawny armed men who id now consider narcissists. Makes sense, I usually have nice muscles to show for all my hard work so it makes sense narcissists would come up with ways to shame me into covering up. The irony is that these same narcs are habitual women abusers.

13:25 the odd part is that no, in reality it’s often homes with neglectful or absent fathers that produce bullies, but if we acknowledge that fact it starts to shine a light on where “toxic masculinity” really comes from.

I actually want to see a reaction from feminists about the old gillette ads and lets see what they're opinions are on that, if they really think that's "toxic masculinity" than it proves they're not doing any good for men and women and have no understanding what a respectful man is.

They'll tell you those men are toxic, then the first chance they get, they'll get under one and scream "Harder, Daddy" till the windows shatter.
      They're all alike.

I had been a "faithful" Gillette consumer for over 20 years, ever since young me grew a tiny bit of a stubble and my dad went with me to buy a razor and shaving cream, he picked Gillette products for me to use so I have just always used the brand since then, that is until that infamous ad came out. Now I go outof my way to pick some other products

This video reminded me of how Captain America: The First Avenger is such a good film. It's so earnest and old-fashioned in its themes, it would be called toxic and canceled nowadays.

Guilette was unbelievably greedy with their razor prices to begin with. It was no real surprise when new companies Rose to challenge them with a more affordable product. Then they did this. I'll never buy another Gillette or Bud Light product again.

The Despot made his homework. What he is saying about the shots, colors, expression are NOT just an opinion. He seems to know about semiotics. It is used to pass a message without speaking. We use it a lot in visual communication (aka graphic design). Same he used to expose the body positivity propaganda.
I'd bet a Gillette shampoo that the Despot works or worked on something tied to visual communication. Am I right, Despot (you can keep the shampoo if I win) ?

@@DespotofAntrim then I truly bow to your intelligence. You studied on your own and grasped so much. When I was making graphic design (aka Visual Communication) in college we studied all visual elements. Colors, hierarchy of the elements on one graphic piece, Gestalt rules, and semiotics. We should communicate most possible in less words we could. Later I started studying propaganda by my own. And I have to say, you understood it very well. Respect!
