    I remember reading a letter we received from the head of a major fund in which my company was invested. He sent out the letter to investors following the 2007-8 financial crash. The fund manager stated that:
    "We have decided that we will no longer invest in assets we do not understand."
    This was after the crash, which was in significant part, caused by our unregulated financial derivatives market.
    The fund manager, whose fund had been around for decades, had invested heavily in derivatives - which they did not understand.
    Lather, rinse, repeat.

    The reason this has so few views because it contains truth and tries to educate people. At least half of our uneducated country does not believe in truth or want to hear it. We are doomed.

    If people will start to enjoy ordinary things like.....empty room, to relax, instead of a cluttered room, with stuff.
    Exercising in nature, instead of playing videogames.
    Giving some money to the poor instead of playing in a casino or being obsessed with bitcoin etc.
    Ordinary things bring much more joy.
    and you may start with slowly stopping watching the tv.
    The less you will watch it the better you will feel, create your own program.
    Then you realize its easy also to watch social media less.

    This guy is unintentionally informing us that AI is in the process of creating a world where 3/4 of the population are non working and have all their basic needs satisfied, while the remaining humans will be the adventurers ie the hierarchy.

    As a retired engineer who worked in Tech for a significant portion of my career, I think all the gloom and doom are overblown. We will figure it out over time. We have to understand that AI today is nothing more than a large regression model. I have done a tremendous amount of modeling in my career and we need to understand that ALL models have limitations. This includes AI. The difference between a human and math is that a human can handle an unique situation, whereas an AI regression model is that it can handle only what it has been trained on.

  • @zacharydaniels3186
    @zacharydaniels3186 Год назад +32

    I appreciate the warnings, however, all the examples of "AI bad", were discovered precisely because this tech is open to the entire public red teaming this tech. If you want to have safe AI, don't keep it in the box and have intellectuals and philosophers "control" it. They can't possibly think of everything. Open source created the security of the internet. Open source is the best and most expedient way to create safe AI.

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 Год назад +14

      No, you’re wrong. They weren’t all discovered by the public, and once the technology involved becomes powerful enough, having the public “play around” with it to look for weaknesses is simply not an option.

    • @zacharydaniels3186
      @zacharydaniels3186 Год назад +5

      @@therainman7777 right. "Once technology becomes powerful enough" is a nice rhetorical phrase.. meaning you are pointing to a theoretical problem as if it already exists based on an assumption that has no predictive power. If people were completely unconcerned about the doubtless negative effects that may well come from this tech I would be worried.. but they are so I'm more worried that the powerful will try and regulate this for their own gain and insure their perpetual incumbency.

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 Год назад +13

      @@zacharydaniels3186 I understand that that’s what you’re more worried about. I’m trying to tell you that you’re mistaken, but of course nothing I say will convince you because you’ve already made up your mind. I have been working in this field for 17 years and I can tell you with absolute certainty, the technology _will_ reach a point where putting it in everyone’s hands would be a guaranteed death sentence for us all; calling that “an assumption with no predictive power” is a statement showing such confusion that I honestly don’t even know how to respond to it. I’m not saying this to insult you, but if you can’t see the writing on the wall then you either don’t understand the underlying tech well enough or you simply haven’t been paying attention.

      @@therainman7777having an open internet where anyone can download a virus will spell doom... we must stop it!! Except that didn't happen and you're mentioning nothing about the accelerated development of countermeasures when a technology is public open. What makes for better bug free games, a hand full of company testers or releasing it to the public? Your strategy isn't even safer on its face, it's concentrates power in the hands of a few. What happens when the value of human labor becomes negative and we become value sinks instead of value generators, what will those monied interests do then?

Then asked questions that made it look like I'm a researcher (i am) instead of a terrorist... Almost all models told me how to manufacture explosives easily... And even inform me on how to do it safely with attention to HSE... That's just chemistry... the stuff that can be done with psychology and people like Skinner's research is ???
