    Welcome to another episode of DiyCarModz. I’m Jeff and in this video I'm going to show you how to get rid of interior dash rattle noise on your 9thgen Honda Accord.
    Tools needed are
    -10MM socket wrench
    -EPT Sealer (foam weatherstrip padding.. you can pick it up at any hardware store)
    -or electrical tape. wrap the interior clips with electrical tape instead of foam padding. I prefer the foam padding.
    -plastic pry tool

    I followed your instructions and got rid of that annoying rattle/ticking sound every time I went over a pothole or cracked uneven street. I discovered that the sound came from behind the gas and brake pedal my dust cover cap was loose and I tightened the bolts and boom the sound was gone! Thank you! The dealership wanted to charge me $175 just to inspect my vehicle for the sound I’m glad I fixed it myself.

    For a long time the noise of my car made me crazy. I took the car severa times to the dealer (last time for 1 month) and the never found the origin of the noise. This video helps me because I do it by myself in 10 minutes with your 3 example. Now I can drive my car happy for the first time in a long time.

      Check the weather stripping on the roof of the car that runs both sides of the car from near the door frame from front window to rear window. It can separate and a small piece causes the rattle and is impossible to find. This molding is purely cosmetic and can be trimmed. One way to confirm that this is the cause is if it does not happen when it rains. Only in dry weather?

    I know this video is old but I have not found anything more recent. To those of you out there that still have rattles after doing all that is shown in this video, I will tell you what worked for me. The rattle sounded like it was coming from dash board, door frame, speakers or roof. It sounded like a loose bold on the passenger side and buzzing noise from the driver side. We accidentally saw a shadow of a vibration when driving on the side mirror. The noise was coming from the weather stripping on the roof of the car. I called the dealer and they said it was purely cosmetic and served no purpose. We simply trimmed the rubber that was separating from the main molding. It fixed the problem. I lived with it for more than a year and was ready to sell the car. Hope this helps.

    For this of you who still experience rattling after doing all this, another source for the rattling noise is a electronic component in the shape of a “block” has fallen off. This “block” is located inside the driver side trim where the AC vent is. Just take off the trim and stick your hand inside to see if the block has fallen off. You will be able to tell easily since it will just be laying there. Just put it back in the stick pad that it was originally on.

      Is it the AC vent right side of driver or left?

    • @shareefsexton4934
      @shareefsexton4934 Год назад

      3 vents on drivers side (minus under seat) only 2 accessible by removing the trim (dashboard), the third above gas pedal doesn’t need trim removed to access it unless this “block” is behind the panel next to the gas pedal (drivers lower right side trim).

    So I went through everything in the video. When I first got the car it was the passenger's side kick panel and some electrical tape fixed that. Now it's got a bad rattle that sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the passenger's side of the windshield when you go above 65...because it is. The cowl and trim pieces up there are held in by plastic clips that have broken off and no longer hold the trim securely. Luckily they can be had relatively inexpensively. I'm replacing all of them.

    On my 2013 Accord Coupe I had a rattle coming from my passenger door panel. I put the EPT sealer on the upper left corner of the door panel where the tweeter is and it fixed it. I also had a very annoying rattle coming from my rear deck. I found that the center speaker grill was causing it and I put a few small pieces of EPT sealer in between the side of the center speaker and the speaker grille and that fixed all of my rattles.

My car barely hit 40K last month. Car looks still perfect condition w the exception of all the issues just mentioned.

    I keep hearing something in my 2013 Honda Accord. It comes and it goes and it sounds like it's coming from the trunk. I've taking every damn thing out of the trunk and still it comes and it goes. I can't figure out what the hell it is. But if your like me strange little noises that weren't there before but suddenly are will drive you nuts. Honestly, I have to kill crickets outside my window during spring time lol.....that bothers the hell out of me!
    Whatever it is that is happening, sounds like it's coming from the back right side of the car. It actually sounds like it's in the cab, in the back right seat. But I have nothing back there. I've checked seat belt's and like I said the trunk and all. I'm really lost on what it might be. And again it comes and it goes, it's not constant which makes it easy to forget when it stops and then drive me nuts when it comes back!

      Hi there, if you look at the back of the sunroof there's a cheap metal going across in a "u" shape. That metal vibrates and causes the noise. I removed the glass (4 screws) than I removed that metal (it seems it's there to keep the roof in the tracks when it opens) I cover the metal with tape and the noise is better now. On really bumpy roads I can still hear it vibrating so sad for a nice car. I hope that helps.

      Roberto De Sousa I did it, pretty easy, took a thick piece of rubber, maybe 0.25" thick, size of a thumbnail, and just inserted it from the top side, so it raises cover, insert just that you don't see the rubber, and it should eleminate the sound. You can test it, when you drive over bumps and you know it's going to rattle, put your hand thru steering wheel and raise this plastic with your fingers, and see if it helps. If you pull too much, you'll activate the horn

    Hey as far as the strut. What noise where you hearing from the struts. Is a rattle? Or is it a clunk when you hit a bump like when turning into a driveway and you hit the little lip on the driveway or when I turn the wheel all the way to the left. My dealer lifted the car and says they didn’t see any issues with any joints or anything but every now and then I hear that clunk. If it’s not a bad joint then it’s gotta be the strut shifting or something. Is that the sound you’re talking about?

      There is a way. Put your car in park. Take your foot off the brakes. Now press up on the button on the shift nob and turn off the car. You will hear a beep and the car will show "Power On" and your radio will still be on while the car is turned off.

    Does anyone hear an occasionally short metallic noise/sound right after the ICE turned on and run at low acceleration? When this happen, the gas pedal also vibrates. It comes on intermittently, but it only takes place right after the ICE turn on. It happens when the car running in EV and when I press the gas a little more to let the ICE turn on. If I press the gas harder it would immediately go away. It seems it only happen when ICE turn on and run at low acceleration? It sounds like a stick rattling in a can or vibrating undercarriage cover, because it seems to be coming from underneath the central engine bay or dash. It is difficult to replicate at the dealer, but the dealer has checked my 2018 HAH multiple times, and said no problem was found.

    How can you torque down the self-locking nut for the suspension with an offset box wrench to spec?

    • @DIYCarModz
      @DIYCarModz  8 лет назад +1

      +David Kim You are right. You can't unless you have a special tool. Honda sells one for $80. Or you can make one with a 17mms open ended socket and 6mm Allen key and a crow feet with 1/2 inch socket. However, if you are experiencing the popping clunking sound going over speed bumps or turns I would just try to tighten the nut about a1/2 turn and see if it fixes the problem.

    No real rattles in my V6 '14. Read somewhere the V6 model platforms are from a higher quality control selection so that may explain it. I even have a progress sway bar that made the ride stiffer but no issues from that.

      I found the rattle, even though it sounded like the Radio area, I discovered it was coming from the air bag cover on the steering wheel, The upper lip of the cover would rattle, just used a small piece of foam under the top edge and solved it.

    Best way to keep your accord 2013 up to 2017 drive smooth is by using soft tire like Hankook noble 1 225-55-R17 and keep tire pressure 28~30 psi , your car become more soft and like luxury car .never ever use any sport tire at all because the damage your car

    Anyone have trunk squeak in their coupe? My trunk door squeaks when opens all the way, and I traced it to one of the cables that goes into the door but no amount of padding fixes it

    • @PatrickTrillx
      @PatrickTrillx 5 лет назад

      Use WD-40 the multi-use one and pop out the wires/hinges that control where the trunk opens and spray a lot around that area. I'd spray it anywhere where there's a hinge, apply it around there, and wipe it off with a towel. Then keep opening and closing your trunk, if it still squeaks, spray more and move it around more.

    My older CRV rattles like shit, I keep finding a new area every month. Left to right, bunch of fucking covers, trim pieces, air bags - everything makes noise. I put it back with black silicone, it stops, then a month later another area starts making noise.
