Top Reason: Washing Machine Timer: The timer controls the progress of the washer. If the washer is stopping at the wrong time or not advancing, it’s possible that the timer has failed or malfunctioned. The timer motor may be running improperly or the gears may be damaged, creating a clicking noise. The timer knob may be failing at different points within the cycle, which may require troubleshooting. Check out the video for all the various reasons and troubleshooting steps to determine why your washer may not be advancing forward in the washing machine clothes cleaning cycle.

thanks for the video. A diode test is shown on the multimeter screen here not continuance. My timer motor did not read any continuity and neither did the timer motor replacement I found used off of ebay. A diode test did show 0 reading on my failed timer motor, but did show reading on the used replacement. The used motor fixed my issue! The entire timer is very expensive and not worth replacing. I think even a used one is pricey, but the motor itself, if you can find one to match your existing one IS worth replacing. I'm just not sure how long it will last. But for now, I have advancement...woohoo!!!!
Glad you were able to figure out your issue. If you have any questions or need help with anything in the future please let us know.
Good video. Really gos into the basic than advance information.
This video is the greatest. Thank you so much
Where can I buy that awesome hose pliars. That is what I want to know.
Amazon.
Hey Matt - Thanks for this video! I love your easy to follow instructions.
Nice demonstraton but your technique is somewhat confusing. You say to check for continuity but your meter was not set to ohms (continuity). It was set to Diode check and showed voltage instead of ohms (continuity)? Please explain.
I tested both a failed one and a used replacement and I get 0 reading for continuity. I'm not very knowledgable on it, but diode or capacitance is the correct test here. I get a reading on the used replacement. I get nothing on the failed timer motor. Video should be updated to say test for diodes instead as that is what they are literally showing on the multimeter tests lol!!!
Great video and info
Good.
Very good explanation but I am in Pakistan. How to get timer motor. What is price if timer
Washer tries to fill but stops immediately several times, then won't work at all. What could be causing that?
The timer sounds like it is running but cycles do not advance. Where can I upload a video of what my washer sounds like?
$22 for a simple knob on that website??? That's criminal. No thanks!
Help! I have MANY wires leading into the new timer I just replaced. All go into one plug tried to include a photo. Prior to changing the timer the drain pump wasn't being engaged in the "regular" cycle. Now it is not filling at the start of the wash cycle but is on the rinse cycle of regular, permanent press, or gentle cycle and drains in the permanent press and gentle cycles. Of course, I use the regular cycle the most.
What is your model number?
Will a speed queen timer fit other brands
What is the model number of your appliance and we can check to see what timer you would be needing.
What is the model number for the ultimate care 2 quiet wash used in this video? I have the same model but dont know the model number
Does anyone know how to adjust this type of timer?
one of the 4 cycles does not reach the end and therefore the washing machine does not stop, it stays about 1 minute from finishing the cycle (only in that cycle) in the others it works well
Mechanical timer - less likely to cost Service call or to replace digital timer
Very true.
No matter what is wrong with the timer it needs to be replaced? Why bother testing it?
This is to see if it is the timer that’s broken vs something like the lid switch.
To see if the timer is actually the problem!!!
My washer worked fine then I moved and my knob won’t advance at all By itself and if I’m moving it, it won’t agitate except when it’s in the rinse cycle.. what could be wrong?
check the wires plugged into the back to make sure they are seated. Follow his instructions to see if you have continuity. I'm going through the same issue but my motor overheats. I purchased it used and the seller swears it worked fine before I moved it.
I actually didn't know that it can also cause floods like really bad.
The timer is so expensive, you might as well buy a used washer.
This machine could have been made much easier but this machine has more equipment so the machine is not good and the price of this machine is much higher.
It is like new cars: they are making them more and more complex with more and more features that aren't needed by most people. I have owned dozens of washing machines and never used any cycle other than regular wash and regular dry. I have never used delicate, rinse and hold, timed wash, or any other function.
This washing machine is not good, I have used it, its price is high, it does not clean good clothes
totally confusing
My timer is not working and I open it but the machine was working now I put back up the timer the mechine is not working now I don't know if I put back up the timer roung
