This is a fantastic interview! I've been watching it in chunks every Thursday in my office before my Intro to Linguistics class (I am the prof), and I love the mindset it puts me in. Thank you Tara and Jacquie for bringing light into my (academic) life!

Thank you for this vlog. I am rewatching as I just lost my husband unexpectedly during the holidays. I am also working on my EdD online.

Sorry about your husband's passing - so hard when our loved ones make their transition. May the memories of the good times sustain you through this time of immeasurable grief.

Oh heavens, I feel so much with prof. Ewart. Strong persons are not the ones who hurt you, they help you. It is the insecure and jealous who make you suffer. One can take some pride out of it. "I have achieved something they would like to have - and fail in it." As Tara points out "We have survived." Sorry for the personal intervention, but I can so identify.
For Tara: I took a lot out of "On not being strong"

Hi Tara, I have been a long time follower of your vlogs since my short trip into the world of PhD land. I do hope that you will be able to continue with the vlogs when you are in NZ.
I had thought about trying again to attempt an MPH and then a possible PhD in public health. But due to the way the last one ended, I feel that that ship has sailed.
Instead, I am really thinking about undertaking a Bachelor of Letters in history (a subject that I have always loved) and seeing where that takes me.
Thank you for being a stalwart of stability and kindness in your role at Flinders and across the vlogs. Cheers, Doug

About 5 yrs. ago, I happened across one of your vlogs. As I was struggling to complete my Ph.D. with an advisor that quite literally did nothing - I started watching your videos, I commented on one of them and you responded. I have since completed my degree. I happened across this video tonight, it's the first time in a few years that I watched one of your videos, and it is clear to me that things have been tough down under, and for you, in particular, I am sorry for that. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. It's strange that you have no idea who I am, are half a world away and yet you provided leadership and guidance that helped me get through some very dark episodes of my degree.

Just curious, will you be continuing the vlogs on your personal channel? If not, just know that the past 299 have been unbelievably valuable and more helpful to more people than you will ever know. I wish you all of the best moving forward in life!

There is one to go, Tristan. :) But a new series will emerge on my channel. I have a pretty good idea - and I'll sketch it out - get your advice - and we'll start something fabulous :) txxx

This was such a fantastic interview! I loved learning more about what inspired you, Tara to start these vlogs. I have watched every single one of your vlogs and some several times (such as, the ones on blame and procrastination). I hope that you bring Jacqui on more often. She is a delightful and inspiring scholar.

My wife and I are both professors of biology at Eastern Univ in Philadelphia. We listen to your vlogs when we commute to school. I wish I found out about Dr Brabazon’s channel in grad school. Also, I love The Smiths. Cheers, Drs Brian and Rachael Alfaro.

This resonated so much to me! I started my PhD Aug 2019 (planned final defense 2022). These are such challenging times. When the popular culture demonizes academic pursuits, it is resigning the world to a sea of problems without a process to emerge solutions.
