My family doesn’t make a lot of money. We can barely make enough for our mortgage. When I graduated colllege this past week they surprised me with a Logan Couture Sharks Jersey. My sister told me the website they got it from and all I can say is that it’s most likely fake. Yes, I would love to have the real deal. And hopefully with the money I save I can afford a real one soon. But this was a gift from my family and I’ll cherish that Jersey forever

I feel that the adidas deal is terrible. ( my opinion ) their job on the World Cup of hockey jerseys was good. But with all the talk of bringing advertisements on them is really upsetting. I do not want to wear my teams logo next to an AT&T or McDonalds logos. I would honestly never buy a jersey with anything other than the team logo and the players name and number.

We see enough fucking ads as it is. Ads for commercial breaks, everything is sponsored, ads around the arenas, ads on the boards. Enough is enough. In the end it's blatant greed. The NHL doesn't need
jersey ads to be profitable, those smaller leagues do. And it doesn't work fine in Europe. People need to stop saying that. Those jerseys are usually awful to look at.
I'm already close to dropping pro sports, jersey ads will be enough to do so.

I don’t care what people buy, I only care if the wearer is telling me the fake is authentic.
Most sports fans have fakes in their collections. Usually reserved for lounging around the house or wearing it to a place where you don’t care if it gets damaged.
Good for you. Just don’t wear one to a game and tell everyone it’s the real deal. That’s when the douche card comes out.

I know I am late to this discussion because I am relatively new to your channel. Love the channel by the way! Here's my two cents on this issue. I personally feel replica jerseys are the same as knockoff jerseys. Either way, they are not the pro-weight, authentic jerseys the players wear. So I look at someone wearing a replica or a knock-off the same way, that is, I have no problem with it. So, I personally buy a mix of both because price is a HUGE factor for me. And I have no problem telling anyone who asks that it is indeed a replica/knockoff. The bottom line is, I don't have the budget to pay $200+ for jerseys. Plus, I play hockey too, and I like to wear them out on the ice, and if I paid $200+ for a jersey, I couldn't do that for fear of damaging them. So I proudly wear my replica/knockoff jerseys on the ice and off knowing I can buy 5-6 of those for every one authentic one!

  • @whistlerdaver

I always buy fake jerseys. Up close, the quality isn't as good, but from far away, no one knows the difference. As someone who wears jerseys to the bar, and to pick up hockey, I cant justify paying 150 for a jersey. Id much rather have 5 fake jerseys for the same price. I only have 1 real jersey, and youre right, you can really feel the difference when you put it on. As for fight strap, I say who cares, I don't plan on scrapping at the bar or pick up, and if I do, I don't get a penalty if my jersey comes off.

I can relate to what you've said here 110%. I still remember looking at authentic on ice jerseys in the early 90s and realising just how different they were to replicas. I can now (just) afford to purchase authentic pro jerseys ...so I am. Problem is I'm still looking for those early 90s ones. lol. They are beautiful though.

However I've found plenty of great authentic reebok premier and ccm 550 jerseys for great prices. If you put in the work and care you can get real jerseys and at good prices. Great video.

Great video. I check ebay every day for Jerseys but I don't have much luck here in the UK and the NHL International store is a joke. Could you please recommend some places that ship internationally for a reasonable price? I know it'll never be super cheap but some places are a joke, was given a 60 dollar shipping quote in a 20 dollar T shirt from pens store the other week, and that's before import tax. Ebay UK is ok but I'm a very slim guy and don't see a lot of Reebok small or CCM medium jerseys pop up, mostly large and extra large sadly. I think the NHL is really missing a trick with their international store considering how popular hockey is in some parts of Europe.

There is a significant difference between Authentic and Replica. Shannon's notes and advice are dead on. It's been awhile since I bought a jersey but my rules are pretty simple:
    1) I often check out Clearance sales which usually happen when teams change to a new Jersey or if it is personalized once a player is traded, lost to free agency, or retires.
    2) I only buy licensed product.
    3) When buying a personalized I try to stick to players that have been with a team long enough to leave an impact. You can buy young prospect players and end up with a nice Eric Lindros Flyers jersey or get stuck with a Pat Falloon Sharks jersey. I usually give it some time to make sure I don't get a flash player. It looks bad years later.
    4) Only use companies that are licensed by the NHL to do the customization or you will get a shit job back.
    5) Be careful on sizing. If it isn't a good fit it will be very uncomfortable.

I could never understand why people would want to wear a fake jersey. As a collector, I want to wear what the players wear on the ice. I realize not everyone wants to spend $250-400 on a jersey but those fake jerseys are just so damn hideous and look like they were made in a sweatshop in some 3rd world country. I personally like knowing that the jerseys I buy are made in Canada.

    • @RUmlas
      @RUmlas 6 лет назад +1

Well the fan replica jersey are made overseas but it's done so officially by the NHL (Indonesia), so quality control makes sure it looks professional. Whereas the Canadian made are only the "Authentic, player worn/issued/retail" with much better quality that you know will last you a very very long time. Most like you said, will most likely get the affordable version (Premiere or Adi-zero).

    • @AlbanianMan

Not sure how NHL sweaters are now for quality, but I bought directly off NHL.com, their official online store. The quality was horrific. I bought my girl a Boston Tim Thormas sweater and the name bar and patches came off, the glue shit. Then the same thing happened when my Giordano sweater came. I wore it to the game and Im being made fun of because the name bar is coming off the back due to shit glue. NHL.COM ffs. The quality was shit for 260 a sweater. That horror story of sweater purchases was 2011 to 2012. Hopefully NHL purchased some better glue. They did take them back and send replacements.

  • @chrisgarry22

Look, I know a fake when I see one, but there’s a few reasons why I sometimes will do it.
I have a real islanders rebook from fanatics. Can’t say I like the logo being that thick, but it is what it is. It was 120 dollars. No name on it. So I looked at counterfeit sites, and if I wanted a Mat Barzal Jersey, it would be 50 dollars. With all the fees to get it, it was about 80 dollars. I didn’t go through with it, and went with the rebook. At Christmas, my father wanted a Matt Martin Jersey. At this point teams were using adidas jerseys. We’re talking about 150. He doesn’t know the difference, and he doesn’t care about the difference. I saved 100 dollars. I got it, and although it doesn’t look great (its a bit of a lighter blue) everything else about it was fine. There’s a button on the side, which sucks, but the Jersey is 3 years old and looks fine. Personally, I wouldn’t wear a 40 dollar Tavares Jersey. Granted, if I’m collecting jerseys, I wouldn’t care if I got a Shane Prince Senators Jersey for 40 dollars. But for me, it’s more about wearing a jersey and number of someone whom I support.
This video is 4 years old and I’m currently in the market for a new Jersey. I want to find a good deal on a real jersey, but damn is it hard.

The name numbers and crest is made of a wierd thick bubly plastic made to mimic the tackle twill. I do not mind counterfeits, I have 20 premier jerseys and 2 counterfeits, i retired the reebok counterfeit and only wear the addidas fake. Yes it is obvios and even more so around real ones but I got tired of dropping ketchup on my premiers.

With the rise of the counterfeit jerseys - the leagues need to see that the ridiculous, (and rapidly rising) prices of the authentics are forcing many people to buy the fakes. At a recent Braves game - I would say at least 1/4 to 1/3 of the jerseys are fake. I have a Majestic 1995 Fred McGriff jersey. The quality of mine vs theirs was VERY noticeable to me, but the 3 friends I was with could only tell once I pointed the differences out. All my NHL, MLB and NFL jerseys are real...I care. Many dont...and their money is worth the same as mine and the fakers are filling demand.

shannon, yes or no answer. Is the jersey "on the way" a Shea Weber Predators jersey ? This video reminded me of the Everybody Hates Chris "Gritzky" episode.

My favourite thing when someone tells me "You buy used? why would I do that to myself" when trying to argue that's why they buy fakes.
A little over a third of my jersey collection is used. and for all but one, you wouldn't be able to tell. Nearly 40 jerseys, and one is in bad condition. Most of them, after a run in the wash, look like they've been taken care of my whole life.
as well, if someone cares so much that they wouldn't dare wear used, They look SO MUCH WORSE in a fake. A fake is aways a fake. You can't iron out a logo that isn't proportioned right. You can't scrub out awful stitching, you can't oxi-clean bath awful fabric.
Rather than used, they decide to wear a shirt with "I GOT SCAMMED" printed all over it.

Why can't the teams just get a jersey from whatever manufacturer they choose? It would bring competition into the pricing and isn't that what free market is all about?

I recently bought two customized jerseys from a legitimate site in China for a total of €150. The quality is very good, almost the same as my Reebok Canucks jerseys. Personally, I'm satisfied with both the quality, price and service.

It is nice when businesses understand the benefits of treating a customer good who spends portions of their money buying their products for using in vids on RUclips. I have the same type of relationship with the sports collectables store I purchase from. BTW always love review vids but dnt sell out to the knock offs.

My mom bought a $200 Sens jersey for my dad for Christmas, and never got it, so that sucked... Don't know if that was a one time lemon, but it sucked. She had to get a fake with the leftover money. You can tell it's cheap, but oh well. He still appreciated the effort.

watching this video where you said ebay sellers will sell high quality jerseys for cheap due to errors is true. For example, I bought an Authentic CCM Away Montreal Canadiens Jersey with #23 Monsef. and had a mcdonalds stop patch on the back hem. the seller has no idea who's monsef is and could be some juinor hockey player and its game worn because i see there are some markings from the puck onto the jersey. Anyways I bought it for $30 and I knew it was high quality legit jersey based on stitching and ultrafil. anyways I seam rip monsef now I have a Ken Dryden Authentic Jersey.

Not for nothing but once you buy a new jersey then once you put said jersey on yourself its then considered used. No such thing as wearing a new piece of clothing. I dont mind buying used. Just cant find my team, size and player that I want. I just got into hockey last year. That being said, at the end of this month Im buying my first jersey and Im excited. Im getting a real primegreen one. I dont think Ill buy many others but I do want at least one. Hockey is so fun to watch. I never understood sports at all before. Now I do.
