Not bad congratulation, the only thing that I would change are the jump voice sounds ... I would make them softer, almost like whispers. About Metahumans, not sure which version you use, but in Unreal 5.5 it's possible to change the LOD of metahumans (they can be smaller than 200 mB). Btw, I'm also an absolute beginner with Unreal (started last week with it), one of my main rules for my games is an option to change the button configurations ... I was never a fan of WASD and Space for jump.
Wow, I have to say, I’m really impressed that you managed to pull this off in just 14 days! Watching the video and then trying the game myself, it’s clear how much effort you put into every aspect. The level design is especially amazing-seriously well done on that. The music track fits the vibe perfectly, and making it timed was a solid choice that adds an extra layer of challenge. The camera and controls feel smooth, though they’re a bit unusual-I can’t decide if that adds to the charm or needs a tweak! I did encounter a bug where I fell off and didn’t die, so my character just wandered under the obstacles, but hey, bugs are part of the learning process, right? The fact that you not only finished something but did it so quickly is inspiring-I’ve been working on my first project for over a month, and seeing your progress motivates me to keep pushing forward. Great job, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for your next project!
I really enjoyed the game. It has its issues but its crazy knowing how far you’ve come from start to end. Appreciate the shout out. Was a frustrating time but was good to find a workaround and we kept in good spirits for the 3 hours it took so that made it easier :) cannot wait see what you do next :) kingboars
Man, those spinning logs😂 Great video, man. I wish I could've seen the last level, but I suck at platformers. Can't wait for the first installment of that MMOARPG battle-royale high-poly ultra-realistic game you've been working on ;) In all seriousness, can't wait for the next thing you put out.
Hi Ernesto, I saw your games file path in your CMD, From my guess your troubles with exporting your game, came from the fact its in Onedrive, I have had so many issues with Onedrive surrounding Dev work, so maybe look into that. Great video man, keep it up
I am in the process of doing the exact same as you actually. I am 15 and making my first game in unreal engine for fun and to learn the process. For uploading to itch, instead of using butler or putting the link in, you can add a custom link and it can be any size. My file is also 1.5 GB so I created a github release which can be up to 2 GB and is free and I just got the github download and put it in itch so when you download it on itch as normal, it does it through github. Also do you have like a discord server or something?
@@DJ_JJ hi! thank you for sharing! I may need you to explain this to me more. Send me an email when you get a chance please! 🙏🏽 To be 15 and working on your first game is awesome!
@@NinjaBirdStudios Hey I just got back from holidays so I just saw and I'll email you now. I actually found a better way to do it anyway which supports any file size.
your game shouldn't be 1.5gb in size for 3 short levels. you should take a look at downscaling the assets (I don't know how in unreal, but i'm prettys ure there's a way).. it'll lower the super high quality assets resolution, but you'd be amazed how much it can be lowered and still look perfectly fine. this will reduce the overall size of the game, it'll increase the frame rate, etc. and, one thing to keep in mind.. when things aren't right in front of you, like.. in your face, in a first person view, but instead it's on the side of the screen as you're running past in the center and your focus is on the center... you can get those assets 95% smaller and playtesters will never see the difference. also, if you just play the game instead of looking at the sides of the screen, you won't notice either. ;-) please let us know if this works. :-) I'm in the 'tutorial hell' stage of my own journey. :-D
I have a question - I'm Mac based, would you be willing to share your game source code with me - so I can create a 'smaller' version of teh game ? and also export a version so Mac users can play ?
