    One small correction:
It was King Brand of Dale, Bard's grandson, who fought at The Battle of Dale. After both him and Dain Ironfoot had been slain, their sons Bard II. and Thorin III. Stonehelm, led the charge from Erebor to break the siege.

The Army of the dead never came to the Pelennor fields in the books, that's just a Peter Jackson thing.
In the books they are summoned and defeat the Corsairs in the coastal regions of Gondor, capturing their fleet at Pelargir. Aragorn then recruits many Gondorians who'd been held back in the southern coastal provinced for fear of Corsair invasion and raids and then they sail on the captured fleet up to the Pelennor fields.
This army of Gondorians arriving instead of the expected Corsair reinforcements, coupled with the Witch King's demise breaks the morale of Sauron's forces.

The tale of Elves is kind of sad when you stop and think about it. They come into the world as the best, most powerful people of all. They have this amazing golden age, but then dark lords keep coming and making their situation worse and worse. Now, their best days are long behind them, and their only real choice is to leave the world they've called home for thousands of years and never come back. It's heart-breaking 😟

Yeah...there was lot of fighting and many lands were affected quite serious engaged in warfare. In the book we get some small glimpses of things happening in the wide world in the main narrative, but indeed lotr appendices tell the most detailed tale of the war sweeping other lands. The first signs of larger scale conflict are noted with the first rumors increased numbers of dark creatures, but when Frodo looks from the Seat of Seeing on Amon Hen we get a proper insight:
"But everywhere he looked he saw the signs of war. The Misty Mountains were crawling like anthills: orcs were issuing out of a thousand holes. Under the boughs of Mirkwood there was deadly strife of Elves and Men and fell beasts. The land of the Beornings was aflame; a cloud was over Moria; smoke rose on the borders of Lórien. Horsemen were galloping on the grass of Rohan; wolves poured from Isengard. From the havens of Harad ships of war put out to sea; and out of the East Men were moving endlessly: swordsmen, spearmen, bowmen upon horses, chariots of chieftains and laden wains. All the power of the Dark Lord was in motion."
Elves and Dwarves were also facing overwhelming forces and barely could defend their own lands!

Love Rohan? it’d never have existed without Galadriel’s help: saving Gondor & enabled Rohan leading to its FOUNDING. Delivered Gondor from invasion & led to the foundation of Rohan, five centuries before the LotR. This is an account on the event.
      * The Rohirrim were in origin the folk named Éothéod, who lived in the North. In 2510 of the Third Age Gondor was invaded by both Easterlings and Orcs at the same time. Borondir, a messenger, delivered a desperate request for aid from the Steward of Gondor to the Éothéod; for their forefathers had often been allies (check art by Julax).
      * Eorl the Young, the King of the Éothéod rode out on his steed Felaróf (a forefather of Shadowfax), and his mounted host followed, seven thousand strong (art by Wouter Florusse). They rode along the Mirkwood forest until they came near Dol Guldur, where the Necromancer [Sauron] had his abode; and the attacks on Gondor were according to his will...
      * Eorl turned away westward for fear of the dark shadow and cloud that flowed out from Dol Guldur, and then he rode on within sight of the Anduin river. Many riders looked toward the river, half in fear and half in hope to glimpse from afar the Dwimordene, the perilous land that in legends of their people was said to shine like gold in spring: Lórien.
"But now it seemed shrouded in a gleaming mist and to their dismay the mist passed over the river and flowed over the land before them.
Eorl did not halt. `Ride on!' he commanded. `There is no other way to take. After so long a road shall we be held back from battle by a river-mist?'"
~ Unfinished Tales; III; II (check art by Guillaume Tholly)
But they saw that the white mist was driving back the glooms of Dol Guldur, and soon they passed into it, riding slowly at first and warily; but under its canopy all things were lit with a clear and shadowless light, while to left and right they were guarded as it were by white walls of secrecy:
"`The Lady of the Golden Wood is on our side, it seems,' said Borondir."
      *
Eorl was not as sure about that as the messenger but trusted in the wisdom of his horse Felaróf:
"`He scents no evil. His heart is high, and his weariness is healed: he strains to be given his head. So be it! For never have I had more need of secrecy and speed.'
Then Felaróf sprang forward, and all the host behind followed like a great wind, but in a strange silence, as if their hooves did not beat upon the ground."
The host rode on, as fresh and eager as on the morning of their setting-out, during that day and the next (obviously thanks to Galadriel). At dawn of the third day they rose from rest and the mist was gone, and they saw that they were far out in the open lands.
A crossing of the river was near and "they had come there at a speed beyond hope". The Éothéod arrived in the nick of time to rescue Gondor's army and defeat their foes (art by JB Casacop).
The intervention by Galadriel both saved Gondor and ensured the foundation of Rohan, for in gratitude (and wisdom) the Steward gave Gondor's northern territory to Eorl. There the Éothéod settled, soon known as the Eorlingas or the Rohirrim, and held it until the LOTR era.

Dourhands are just a Lord of the Rings Online invention, not canon. But yes, I'd be surprised if there wouldn't have been some effort by Sauron' or the Witch King to recreate Angmar. Even if Angmar and Rhudaur were largely depopulated, they've had a thousand years to recover. And even an Angmar that was a shadow of it's former self could overrun much of Eriador. Between the Ered Luin and the Misty Mountains there's maybe a few dozen or maybe a hundred Dunedain Rangers, a similar sized force in Rivendell and a small Shire militia to fight them.
Maybe that's why there are so few in the Grey Company that go south - the rest were needed to watch Angmar and the Misty Mountain goblins.

This was the time when the Dominion of Men was beginning. The Elves and Dwarves had suffered steady attrition for millennia. While the Elves could be reincarnated, the Valar who did this kept them in Aman and did not send any save Glorfindel back to Middle-earth. Likewise, the Dwarves had only recently recovered Erebor, and Moria had been lost to them until Galdalf killed Durin's Bane. So neither race had large armies or realms anymore. Both races were reaching the end of their time in Middle-earth. Ironically, the Hobbits and the Shire contributed virtually nothing to the war effort besides Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. (Adding more detail) - Here is why the elves couldn’t help as much as some may have wished at the final battles of ROTK as well as at Helms Deep from the second movie & other places from other films: By the Third Age of Middle-earth, the population of Elves had significantly decreased from their numbers in the earlier Ages. It is estimated that there were only a few thousand Elves remaining in Middle-earth by this time.
One reason why Elves didn't have much military prowess to help out more in the Third Age is because they had already fought many battles in the previous Ages, & were weary of war ontop of Lothlòrien(where Galadriel is) being constantly attacked throughout this current story during the trilogy story but the movies never show it. Additionally, many of the great Elven kingdoms had already fallen, & the remaining Elves had scattered across Middle-earth, making it difficult to organize a large-scale military force.
Furthermore, Elves had a deep respect for the natural world, and were hesitant to engage in battles that could harm the environment. They preferred to use their skills in magic and healing to assist in battles, rather than fighting directly.
Despite their reduced numbers and military prowess, Elves still played an important role in the events of the Third Age. They were instrumental in the quest to destroy the One Ring, and many fought bravely in battles against Sauron's forces. However, they had to be strategic about their involvement, as they knew that they could not sustain heavy losses without risking the extinction of their entire race.
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In J.R.R. Tolkien's works, the exact population of Elves in Middle-earth during the Third Age is not explicitly stated. However, it is generally believed that their numbers had greatly diminished by this time, with only a few remaining Elven kingdoms & settlements scattered across Middle-earth.
Some sources estimate that there may have been only a few thousand Elves left in Middle-earth by the Third Age. It is important to note that the exact population of Elves in Middle-earth is not a major focus of Tolkien's works, as he was more concerned with the individual characters & their journeys rather than the demographics of Middle-earth.
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
While there are no exact figures given in Tolkien's works, some fans have attempted to estimate the population of Elves in Middle-earth during the Third Age using various mathematical models comparing to what was known about the past. One such estimate, based on the size of Elven settlements & their likely populations, suggests that there may have been around 100,000 Elves scattered across Middle-earth from different clans as it were with slightly different diverging history at certain points during the Third Age.
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The population of Elves in Middle-earth changed over time due to a variety of factors, including wars, migrations, & natural disasters.
During the First Age, Elves were relatively numerous and lived in many different kingdoms & settlements across Middle-earth. However, many of these kingdoms were destroyed during the wars against Morgoth, the first Dark Lord.
During the Second Age, the population of Elves began to decline as many Elves left Middle-earth to sail to the Undying Lands, a paradise-like realm across the sea. This was largely due to the influence of the Valar, the angelic beings who created the world, who offered the Elves a chance to escape the sorrows and limitations of mortal life in Middle-earth.
By the time of the Third Age, the population of Elves in Middle-earth had greatly diminished. Many of the great Elven kingdoms had fallen, & the remaining Elves had scattered across Middle-earth in small, isolated settlements. This was partly due to the wars of the First Age and the destruction of many Elven kingdoms, as well as the gradual decline of the Elves' power & influence in Middle-earth.
Overall, the population of Elves in Middle-earth declined over time, with many Elves leaving for the Undying Lands & many others being killed in wars and other conflicts. By the end of the Third Age, the Elves' numbers had greatly diminished, & they were a shadow of their former glory in Middle-earth.
It’s been their fight for ages alone before Men came along and many of them befriended Men from the very beginning. They share the same fights/The same histories etc!
Let’s just say it used to be a few million so imagine what Galadriel & her husband have seen regarding experiencing their entire race that still dwelled upon middle earth nearly being wiped out into extinction…

Part of your question is the answer, and the other part is Elvish culture itself. An Elf is but a child until 100 so roughly 5x as long as a human to mature, so humans would have many generations of children to 1 elf generation. Even so many elves chose not to reproduce until a much later age Arwen was 3000 years old and still a maiden before she married and reproduced. So, let's assume that is extreme and half that is the normal age, 1500 years for an elf couple to meet, marry, and begin to bear children. In the same 1500 years 1 human couple would have sired 60 generations of descendants. Assuming just 3 children per couple per generation (pretty low for a Middle Ages based society), the math is staggering. Look at the US as a great example there were an estimated 2.5 million people in the US in 1776 when independence was declared, now less than 350 years later there are 333 million people (yes you have to account for immigration, but that is math for a statistician not me lol). Finally, elves generally married for life and did not take another partner even on the death of their spouse (there are limited exceptions), so war would have an even greater impact on the ability to grow their population than it would among humans who often remarry after the loss of a spouse. So, after so many wars over the 1000s of years there would be a considerable number of widowed/widowered elves that were partnerless and not procreating.

If only instead the Rings of Power, that has just ruined all the beautiful characters and the story itself, Amazon has chosen to cover this part of the Lord of the Rings....It would have been epic battles, would have had plenty of space to introduce new characters with a meaningful personal story and contribution. It wouldn't have been necessary to make Galadriel this insufferable and stupid bimbo in the first place and Elrond a man model without honour and...I couldn't shake the feeling that they only set themselves to ruin LOTR of Peter Jackson ...but instead make us revisit it so many times that I hardly distinguish from it and the book.

They were protecting their own lands from attack. At least, Galadriel was. Lothlorien was assaulted three times by armies from Dol Guldur during the final Battle before Gondor. And three times she repelled them because, according to Tolkien in his LOTR timeline-appendix, “none could have prevailed against the Power [Galadriel] that dwelled there, unless Sauron had come in person.” So the elves had to battle for their territories, and the War of the ring was a war for men to wage, anyhow. The elves were heading West forever.

@@jt5765 Or Saruman using magic to speed up their maturation process.
The reason they had to do that was because of the timeline shift... in the book, there's 17 years between Bilbo's party and Frodo leaving the Shire. Saruman started his conversion of Orthanc (and breeding his army) right around the time of the party, meaning his first generation would be functionally adults.
But, in the movie, Frodo leaves the Shire MAYBE a year (or less) after the party. So there simply wasn't time for Saruman to do it the normal way. Not if they wanted to show Gandalf riding to Isengard BEFORE it's full of war machines, which probably would have made him suspicious.

The ruins are great for Guerilla warfare, but not a place to hold. The river does give some defense, but with their numbers, there was no way to hold the area. Farimir was always a guerilla fighter though.

Denethor wasn't a idiot in my opinion, but since he used the palantir and Sauron just let him see what he wanted to, his decisions where intrigued by Sauron. Faramir indeed is a much stronger character in the books than in the movie, that's correct.

I liked the idea of having Elves come to the aid of the Men the way they did in the movies. That was a cool little touch. However, if I had been Peter Jackson, I would have had them come to Minas Tirith instead of Helm's Deep. Helm's Deep was sort of Rohan's fight, while Minas Tirith was the fight where the whole of Middle Earth was rallying together to stop Mordor. Plus, in all reality if the Elves had been at Helm's Deep, all those Elves would have been of fighting caliber similar to Legolas, which means Isengard would not have stood a chance and the defenders would have completely cleaned house. So if I had been Jackson, I would have sent Haldir and the Lorien Elves to Minas Tirith in Return of the King instead of Helm's deep.

I wish you explain it better. You should of explain what happened in the battle of the gate.
The reason why the sight of the Eagle was important, was that it meant the Elves won the battles to the North. That improved the Morale of the Humans, and demoralized the Orcs. I hated Peter Jackson had elves fight at the Horn. THis change meant Galadriel had spare troops, but the war she fought was brutal. Oh and Elrond sent his son to help in Umbar. I thought Elrond had more military input , but couldn't find it on any Wiki.

@@nigeljames5622 the only one to go early to explore Arda was Olórin.
Gandalf named Olórin created by Eru’s Thought (extensions of Eru Îlluvatar himself whilst they had their own free will & individuality. He essentially got the chance to experience and study other parts of himself through this.) among the other Ainur before the Years of the Lamps roughly 9,000+ years before arriving in Middle-earth; In Valinor he was known as Olórin.(Remember though he formally existed before the world existed and his form becoming Gandalf hadn’t happened yet. He was sent to Middle-earth in human form around the year 1000 of the Third Age. So his many forms had different ages in length of existing. He’s very cool right! Could he get any cooler!? 😎❤️ Another thing is when he arrived in middle earth he was disguised as an elf & lived among them whilst they were unknowing & he became to be known as Mithrandir to the Quendi/Eldar❤️ He could have very well dwelled with the elves far earlier just do to his curiosity & simple desire to explore and be around the firstborn (TheElves)
      Gandalf The Grey/White
Estimated at 15,000 years old (following his quote "300 lives of men, I have walked this earth"), It says that Gandalf was the wisest of the Maiar besides Melian herself. There were a lot of Maiar that were considered really great and powerful.
However, there is a much longer answer. Like Sauron(former name is Mairon) & the other Istari (the order sent around the same time & of which he was appointed leader but he being who he is & a student of the Vala by the name Nienna & Lorien(Irmo). Gandalf was a Maiar, an angelic spirit created by Eru at the beginning of time and therefor one of the many Ainur who sang the world into being & Eru just helped their creation take shape and basically stated “behold YOUR creation” & basically what happens in that world goes sort of preordained as by that song eons ago so really only the ages after Dagor Dagorath will truly be an age that isn’t full of strife; sadness; and longing.
Also. These lamps are what were before even the two trees. These were Giant mountains but also like light houses but housing a great power but it may have also been where two special Maia lived that helped in the creation in the sun and moon after Melkor With eldrich terror Ungoliant killed the trees, so yea “Arien” is the Maia who basically exists with the sun and her brother and or lover of sorts is the one who wanders with and guides the moon. Of which that other Maia was “Tillion”
Galadriel herself not only witnessed this but as a student of Aulë and the other Valar she obviously had involvement in helping create the hallowed objects that housed the final flower of the silver tree Telperion that was the father of the moon and the mother of the sun was Laurëlin the golden tree and prior to the sun and moon they too used to wax and wane!
