I have been using this on my full 5 year ceramic coated GTI for a few months now. its honestly incredible at how well this beads after. It beads so well i can dry my car with a leaf blower in about 5 minutes. It just blasts right off. I tried this before ceramic coating and the water would stick to the car to much to blow off. I understand the website says what it says but on a fully ceramic coated car this stuff is unbelievable. This product makes my car so easy to clean. due to the existing ceramic coating just foaming the whole car and letting it sit for about a minute or two and rinsing it off gets 90% of the dirt off. than i do a second wash and use a wash mitt. this makes it very hard to scratch the car. the 5 year ceramic coating is the best thing i ever did. dirt just falls away effortlessly. I can understand why this did not work on just a waxed car. regardless of what the chemical guys website says a synthetic protectant just does not work well with plan wax. with a ceramic coating already in place this wash can bond with the coating because they are the same. Ill make a video next time i wash my car. I think chemical guys needs to update the product use description to ceramic cars only.
Yeah I coated my pickup with hydroslick from chemical guys. I did a terrible job coating it and you can still see a bit of residue on 2 or 3 places. But using this soap is just awesome. I don't even touch the truck, I just wash any loose dirt off with a pressure washer. Then foam it right up with a foam cannon (I use like 3 or 4oz, like double what they recommend). Once I get the whole truck foamed up I just wash it off with the pressure washer again. Which it says on the back to use a foam cannon for a high foam touch less wash. But once I finish washing it I'll use the hydro speed quick detailing spray and walk around it wiping it off. The truck is slick to the touch and feels awesome. But if you don't have any ceramic on your car just use any other wash N wax out there and you'll be fine. Chemx.com has a really nice looking 2 part touchless wash that looks really good.
Thank you for sharing. I was thinking the same thing when I viewed the video. I got my new truck coated, with 9 layers, and they recommended a neutral balanced ph soap and found the hydro suds creamic car wash soap.
From what I understand as to what Chemical Guys claim is that Hydro Suds is to help enhance and "Recharge " a car's paint that's already been ceramic coated.
I looked it up to verify so this is straight from the Chemical Guys website, it does claim to add water beading to any surface coated or uncoated. HydroSuds is infused with nano SiO2 that leave behind ceramic protection and incredible gloss with every wipe of your mitt. HydroSuds offers a good level of protection alone, leaving a silica-rich film behind that helps repel water, dirt, and other pollutants, keeping your car cleaner longer. Use it on a non-coated car to add water beading properties, or on a coated car to revitalize your ceramic coating with a simple wash and dry!
THANK YOU! I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice that not only does it not bead, but it left horrible streaking, not a slick surface, and a thick, pasty residue that occurs after a rain.
Tried hydro suds myself and I probably spent over an hour trying to dry the car from the residue. The finish looks amazing, but I'm not sure how it will work yet.
Friendly tip , using the same mit will end up giving you swirls , in the video you show that there’s was a lot of dry mud on the side of the car , whether you power wash it with just water it still doesn’t fully remove the contaminates that it need to remove …. My suggestions I’ve been detailing for a while now is 1.) I always inspect the vehicle 2.) the main area I would look at it is always the front bumper , hood and both fenders you’ll see a lot of those bugs and insects in the front , when those bugs are dried your running that mit everywhere else causing even much more of the swirls that you want to avoid 3.) what I like to do is run a full contamination wash ( no mit ) just let it soak up all the contaminates ( once again even a contaminate wash will not 100% remove it all but it will do it job 60-70% of it ) then rinse the car down 3.) one thing is see as well is your running the mit in circular motion which that’s another reason that causes heavy swirl mark ) I personally run a “one angle” hense the reason of always starting on top on the car ( a back and forth motion ) ( or straight line ) I love your video so don’t take it personal it’s my person opinion🙏🏽
I bought this product hopping that the water beading will be stronger since I sealed my cars paint with Jet Seal and wax it with Butter Wet Wax but after washing it with Hydro Suds the water beading went away and worst the water shedding was horrible. That didn’t happened when I wash my car with Mr. Pink.
Thanks for the reviews. I use meguiar's ceramic detailer and ceramic wax and was wondering if chemical guys would be better or worse. The Armor All soap seems to have done the best.
you say that chemical guys took away the beading of the final rinse of water. that's exactly whats its supposed to do . ceramic coatings and waxes are supposed to sheet the water not bead it.this ceramic technology is a whole different concept than what we have had with carnauba waxes and other related 'wax type products'. i have a 2018 shadow black f 150 pickup truck that i prided as one of the best looking 'driven daily' trucks in town. that was with the carnauba wax days. reluctantly, i tried some of the over to counter ceramic products on my truck. didn't have the expensive treatment done but just used what you could buy from the manufactures and at the auto parts stores and walmart. wow! what a difference, if you want a jelly, candy looking gloss on you paint go with ceramic products. if you do it right, like i said, the water sheets on the paint instead of beading. fyi, microfiber has come so so far in recent years, i think that laying down the money for premium quality towels is a must. really makes a difference in my detailing of my cars and trucks, weather its from cleaning glass to quick detailing or removing wax from the paint, the final sheen and gloss or quality of finish tells the tale of all your effort!!! we just dont run down the basement the the rag box and get an old t shirt or moms old dish or bath towels to wax the car or truck.
I've used this a few times and did have better luck when I thought I was recharging lol. I used for the first time in a few months (been awhile since I did a full wax) and found spots where it just removed all hydrophobic properties.
@minutemanmac, did your car have any protection already? Did you just spray on and then contact wash off and it worked? I mean this video was straight to the point, before and after and literally the protection got worse. But for you it worked. I am seeing conflicting experiences in this and other video comments. Almost like if a ceramic coating exists and is ALREADY doing a good job, simply washing it with any product would make that product seem like it helped.
Ceramic coating and wax don’t mix. I would venture to say that had it been non waxed paint it would have worked. Another reason for using it is if you plan to ceramic coat your paint then you have to find a soap without wax or just use a soap that has ceramic in it. I’m using this soap and then putting there ceramic spray coating over it and it has always looked and worked great 👍🏼
So I decided to give this a whirl on my 911 TTS. I too followed the instructions t the tee and watched the Chemical Guys videos to make sure I applied it correctly. The car has a coat of Rejex but I have never been satisfied with the beading, albeit it did have some beading. HydroSuds took any beading I had off the car entirely. In fact I think it probably does a better job than Chemical Guys Clean Slate! I will say that it did clean the car well though and it was pretty dirty. Anyway, I dried it all off then clay bared the paintwork. I then applied a coat of 303 Graphene Nano Spray. Man! is that stuff good. The beading is quite amazing and the paintwork feels silky smooth. The shine is like glass. I defo wont use HydroSuds again unless I need a Clean Slate 🤣🤣
bruhhh you sounded so disappointed and defeated after seeing what happened lol. Have you reached out to Chemical Guys by chance? I was just about to buy this and then I saw this video. Glad I didn't get it.
The problem is that this product is grossly misused. Simply put, if your car does NOT already have a ceramic coating or chemical guys equivalent, this will not enhance the surface. The soap is PH neutral and free of any wax so as to not strip what is already on your paint. Not sure why you lost some the very little amount of beading it did have. If you don't have a water softener, the PH and alkaline level in the water could have been the culprit. The other problem is also that they don't make it clear that it's meant strictly for ceramic coating. They assume that people will understand that "ceramic car wash" means car wash for ceramic coated paint.
Straight from Chemical Guys website, it’s a terrible product…. “Use it on a non-coated car to add water beading properties, or on a coated car to revitalize your ceramic coating with a simple wash and dry!”

That’s interesting. I will say sheeting leaves a lot less water spots when it sheets fast vs bead. But that was horribly slow sheeting if you could even call it that. I agree that it does look shiny in video after it was dried! I’d be curious what it would do washing it again.
Agreed with less water spots with sheeting, but I do like that the beading seems easier to dry than when it sheets. I’ll be making another video next week testing Meguiars so we’ll see if it beads then!
@@9NailzGarage. Some of the ceramic stuff needs time to cure. I wonder if tomorrow would be better. Just a thought. I used The Last Coat on my truck and it did get better with time, could feel it getting more slick day by day.
