    I think the extinction was bound to happen as the climate and landscape started to shift. The asteroid strike could probably be just the finisher. But... I'm no expert. Just an opinion. Good thing they don't exist anymore though. Would be challenging to co-exist without some sort of barrier. Thanks for sharing National Geographic.

    • @wiseass5045
      @wiseass5045 6 лет назад +19

      Azliana Lyana it sure would be tough to coexist with them today. i think they may have ate themselves out of homealso. as big as they were they would have required a lot of food every day. They would also devastate our crops and there would practically be no way to keep them out.

    • @miquelescribanoivars5049
      @miquelescribanoivars5049 6 лет назад +6

      Extremelly unlikely.
      Dinosaurs have went through many massive ecological shifts, not even a freaking 10 Km asteroid could stop them as modern birds show. In all likelyhood many groups of Dinosaurs found in the Late Cretaceous may had become extinct, the likelyhood of all of them becoming extinct in anything sort of a cataclismic extinction event is very low.
      The K-T extinction just happened to be much more severe for large endothermic animals with long maturation times (like Plesiosaurs, Mosasaurs, Pterosaurus and all non-proper Avian Dinosaurs) than for ectothermic species with a long lifespan (crocodilians and turtles among others) and tiny sized very fast growing endotherms like the contemporary birds and mammals.

    There are a number of dinosaurs that have now been found to be much bigger that dreadnoughtus, in length and weight; Argentinosaurus, Puertasaurus and Patagotitan are three dinosaurs that have been found in South America. Paleontologists believe they were still growing at the time of their deaths.

    • @thereadersvoice
      @thereadersvoice Год назад

      You don't need to feel overwhelmed. May I suggest start by taking your granddaughter to educational institutions; the Field Museum in Chicago, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the Smithsonian in Washington, DC are excellent places for any budding scientist to begin. You may also want to look up ways to take your granddaughter on an actual paleontology excursion. And, of course, there are always libraries and book stores. In general, try to connect her with as many experienced researchers as possible; this should give her a solid foundation for success. And, help her stay focused in her journey. Your desire to support your granddaughter in her educational endeavors is commendable. I hope you find my thoughts useful. All the best!

    The Dinosaur Song Lyrics:
    Here's Triceratops a-crunching
    Tyrannosaurus munching
    Stegosaurus lunching
    And the Muttaburrasaurus
    But you'll never see, oh you'll never see, no you'll never see, a dinosaur alive
    There's Diplodocus a-bumping
    And Brachiosaurus stomping.
    Velociraptor jumping
    And a tiny, little Minmi
    But you'll never see, oh you'll never see, no you'll never see, a dinosaur alive.

      This video has accurate subtitles, and probably the channel's other videos do too, and same with other large educational channels. It's tricky learning English. Good luck!

    Is it me or something weird here is happening? Every time I go to the comment section about dinosaurs. I always see alot of people talking about dinosaurs existence and fossils as if it is a controversial thing? Like bruh I don't understand why make a big deal out of dinosaurs and archeologists?

    • @archive2500
      @archive2500 2 года назад +1

      Mostly because it is associated with their preexisting beliefs that are contradictory or they relate dinosaurs to the cryptic creatures. It is always about ignorance.

      @@archive2500 I mean yeah your kinda right. I mean in conservatives belief, animals are created by God but, what we find under dirt are not what it seems to be. We find fossils of a dead animal that's been alive millions of years. Meaning they exist. It seems the discovery of this ancient animals, contradicts with their beliefs because it wasn't mentioned so. But who knows, maybe there are books or chapters that this describes this species, but didn't made it to their book. Personally I would believe that this species and fossils are real. We wouldn't have museums and archeologists if we didn't find this fossils.

    65t = 907 kg? seems the metric system is way more difficult than i thought

    • @philipolson4842
      @philipolson4842 6 лет назад

      907 kg equals a ton, not so tough, really. A perspective on how much a ton is for those not familiar with ancient weights. 65 times 907 gives an idea of the immensity.

      short ton, long ton......thankfully i'm from a metric country, i'm way too lazy to memorize all these different weights.

    Is there a Dinosaurs 201? This is an accessible video that provides the dinosaur basics that almost nobody who isn’t in the field or a hobbyist knows. It’s a great video.
