    Wow. Keep the heat in and the CO2 high to kill the mites. Hope your production was good for your customers. Thanks for the video.

    I'm in rural back country of NY. We have already dipped down to 24 degrees Fahrenheit. I've got my top insulation on in a deep box like you. Will most likely have them wrapped sometime next month. Love your videos.

    HA I am in Virginia I enjoy watching your video, I wrap my hives I have bee cozy from better bee but also got some bubble wrap like u have here. What does the bubble wrap actually do. I was told the bee cozy for the most part keeps the temps inside the hive from droping so fast that the bees have time to get into the big clusters other then that they really do not help to keep the hive harm in any way. I insulate the tops with R10 foam board the vents some yes some no but if I remember you do not have vents in the top of the hive . my thought on the top vent it lets out the heat. your thoughts please hope you have a great day and thanks

      Bubble wrap restrains heat no top vents if you have top insulation

      The wrap also reduces solar impact, you will notice that I don't use any black (that is one purpose). I rely on the bees metabolic heat, low ventilation and insulation to keep Ts steady inside!!

      @@etiennetardif so you don’t want them heating up with black from the sun? I use poly and wood so wood hives i use too insulation and wrap with bubble wrap then with black plastic should intake the black wrap off and leave the bubble wrap exposed ?

    Hi
    I am wondering how big of a front entrance do you leave for your bees? I know bees can tolerate higher levels of CO2 but wondering how much O2 they would get with a small entrance.

    • @etiennetardif
      @etiennetardif  3 месяца назад

      With no top entrance I recommend at least 4-5" x 1/2"... Make sure you have a mouse guard though. I found last year 3" was slightly too small for the bees to effectively manage rapidly warming temps (e.g. -25C to 5C in less than 12hrs. The hives with the larger sizes never even noticed it.

    Hi there, do you have top ventilation in your hives , during winter, with this set up? Newbie here.
