  • I have been asked how I made my face stencil that I use occasionally in my art journals, so in today's video, I show you how. Alternatively, if you would like to buy a face stencil (or two!), I sell machine cut stencils, individually cut by myself from my own drawings in my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/u...

    I’ve just started keeping my larger stencils in a pretty accordion file (the kind with several slots- for bills/receipts etc.)
    I made a pouch from a mail order catalog and a tshirt (Paper Outpost tutorial) and that fits inside the accordion folder for the smaller stencils.
    So far so good 👍🏼 keeps them flat and safe from loads of other junque.

    I love using stenicils but have never made my own. Fascinating video, makes me want to have a go! The way I store my stencils is between a carefully removed pair of pages from an old book. Each stencil has its own individual 'page folder' as this enables me to stencil on the front page , so that I can quickly see what design lurks within. The book pages stop the stencils getting entangled with one another. It is fun and quick to flip through my stencil stash this way.

    That was interesting Kari, I don't cut my own now I tend to buy them but I used to years ago, with a knife. I can imagine your hands must be aching mine definitely would!! 😕 I store my small stencils in a small basket and stand them up right so I can just flick through them to find the one I want... The big ones I have I keep in a box the 12 x 12" ones came in. I don't have loads but I enjoy using them in the journals I make and my own, along with my Gelli printing 💖💖🌷 Lovely job on the face xx

    Prior to the book page storage solution (comment below), I used to use an accordion folder - but found it a bit inaccessible, taking ages to find things, stencils getting tangled. When I am creating something and need inspiration quick - flipping through the stenciled book pages works well for me.

    • @KariGibsonArt
      @KariGibsonArt  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Josie, your book storage system is rather similar to what I use nowadays. I use old catalogues/trade magazines from work, especially those that have the thicker paper. Mind you, I still get in a muddle with them! 😂💗

    • @josiecloud1234
      @josiecloud1234 5 месяцев назад

      @@KariGibsonArt 😂 Yes, I know how it is - so I have to stencil a picture on the page of each one. I also use a lot of Weston Boxes a4 size (they do larger as well). The Weston boxes stack really well and have helped reduce the number of avalanches in my craft room! I label them with paper tape - that helps me find stuff as I always forget where things are! The boxes also help me to make maximum use of my limited space.
