    To clarify a litte bit:
    RBass is a simple, easy to use Plugin, to enhance the bass, and it does this by adding artificial overtones to the signal, so the bass sounds really rich and full, even though the actual bass frequencies are not enhanced. So you get the boomy bass sound, that would totally clip, if done by just eq.
    MaxxBass is kind of more advanced, and it is used not to enhance bass, but to substitute the Fundament-based Bass sound with overtone-based bass sound. It should sond similar or even the same, but the advantage would be: Fundament-based Bass wil be lost on small speakers like laptops or cells, but the overtone-based Bass will still be heard. So I see it somehow as a converter from a Mix that is done for full or low range speakers, to a mix that also works on small no-bass speakers.
    LoAir has a completely different approach, it simply enhances the fundament (LO) and even adds a subharmonic wave (loAIR) beeing one octave below the fundament. And I belive the overtones seen in this video were merly harmonic distortion because it was set so loud.
    One thing I really like to do is to createasubharmonic with loAir, and then enhance it with RBass. Gets a massive BassSound but still is moderate in gain.

      RBass was built using MaxxBass technology, which Waves claims has been improved, together with a new, simpler interface. I don't think the difference between the two is as big as you claim, but I might be wrong.

    While I also like RBass - I’ve realized, after lots of testing, that MaxxBass does a better job at retaining sub-information while adding upper harmonics. You need to mess with all the parameters to dial it in, which is part of the secret- you have more control than RBass. For instance, adding upper harmonics to a sub-rich 808. You won’t lose any sub with MaxxBass, while Rbass unfortunately does. Therefore, I always use Maxxbass over RBass. For adding lower harmonics- I haven’t found anything that beats Lo-Air. For that suuuuper low (but tight) sub info

      are you saying you like Lo Air plug-in more than max bass?

    • @HollerAtcherBoi

      @@deesteve4156 no. They’re for 2 different purposes. Maxxbass for upper harmonics, lo-air for lower harmonics.

    Great example using the 80hz sine wave. I often try experiments using white noise, but your approach shows better results on the analyzer. Thanks for sharing!

    thanks, very helpful from a technical point of view. if you can supplement each with an audio example, it will cover the audible perspective as well.

    Hey I put the MaxxBass on my bass buss channel and it has a high-end layer that is stereo, but whenever I turn the MaxxBass on, the stereo field disappears or seems to be reduced quite dramatically. Do you know why this is happening?

    I would be interested to see how 3 plug ins affect your low end (ie kick or bass) as these are the freqs that these plugins are supposed to alter

    are they even or odd harmonics? you never explained.

    • @kezman74
      @kezman74 8 лет назад

      They are both harmonics. Fist harmonic is an octave, next is half that, so a fifth, then another octave (4th) then a 3rd, and so on. It's not like a square wave generator, they are producing all the harmonics.

      If you want to control the levels of even and odd harmonics, Waves Saphira is a good plugin.

      +Geert Gissing RenMaxx is like a MaxxBass Lite. You have better control with MaxxBass for most everything. RenMaxx is good for things like pianos and other natural instruments however it lacks the control of the added harmonics above the fundamental. Both are good but MaxxBass is actually the real deal for an "all around" go-to plugin. I own all three...each have their differences and uses.
