    There's something about bootleg videogame hardware and videogames that's always been wildly fascinating to me, this one especially is neat since it seems like an actual improvement over the Gottlieb board in its being one board for everything as you mentioned

    I believe the reason for the frequency control is that Votrax uses an analog vocal tract and as such every chip sounds different.

    Thanks for archiving the roms. It would be interesting to compare them bit-wise to the known versions.

    Love your videos! for someone whos just getting into the hobby is there a good way to tell if a board is a bootleg?

      You just have to know what you’re looking at… A lot of them look exactly like the original on the screen… But physically they look different

      I usually catch bootlegs when looking at schematics and components list. Ex: capacitor and oscillator values differ most times
