I do have the following ones: - Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/25 - Zeiss Distagon T* 2/28 - Zeiss Distagon T* 2/35 - Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 ... and love them all!
Happy Bday Ken. Happy many more years. Zeiss lenses for Contax/Yashica mount can be used with adapters on Fuji. They seem optically similar to the current Zeiss lenses but sells for much less. What is you take??
i've been looking for the 85mm zf.2 for under $1000 CDN for a few months now, and it has proven nearly impossible. it's my dream lens, my kit feels incomplete without it :(
H☆PPY BIRTHD☆Y!!! to a fellow Virgo. I'm sure that you've answered this question many times: is it possible to obtain a hard copy of your book Missing Secrets of Magnetism?
I'll stay tuned to your work on video. I have a hard time enjoying reading from a lit screen. Thank you for your prompt response. Have a blissed day of birth!
help... I'm thinking about buying a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar Zebra 50mm f1.8 ... is it any good? I can't find any satisfactory info online about this lens...
Based on your recommendation I found the 50 f1.4, 100 mp, and the 35 f2 used for a pretty good price. The 35mm is my favorite lens also. thanks for the good work.
Sheer fukkin evil man! That was awesome! You still like the 50mm 1.4 planar now compared to the 50mm 1.4 Milvus? And how about that 55mm Otus man? You own that shit too?!
For CA created by a lens defect, not really. If you view such an image with anaglyph glasses, you’ll see depth, but it will not correctly correspond to scene depths. Axial CA (aka, longitudinal CA or bokeh CA) comes from different colors of light focusing on slightly different planes, so you can get a little bit of in-front-of vs. behind depth disambiguation by comparing sharpness of the same feature in different color channels, but that’s a minor help. Transverse CA (aka, lateral CA) is typically more of a magnification change, and really doesn’t directly correspond to a depth change.
i had used the 35/2 Milvus for 2 Days. It retains the exact same element design of the Classic lens, except that milvus has blue rubber weather seal gasket at the rear & variety of internal seals to keep moisture out (not guaranteed despite claims by Zeiss), rubberized manual focus ring instead of metal in previous version... etc. So, depends on us which one we go with ! ... personal decision. Even the 50mm f/2 & 100mm f/2 Milvus continues the legacy of its older versions. The 50/1.4 & 85/1.4 Milvus are the worst due to more corrective elements, its image rendition is as Dead as a Dodo. I can't comment on which has better built quality, Classic Vs. Milvus, perhaps the older is better. I have tried all 6 Milvus lenses on my 6D. The 21mm f/2.8 is one of the best looking lens with curved / rounded hood, but as Ken truly said, Zeiss is horrible at making wide lenses. The User Experience with 100mm f/2 is the most pleasurable of all six, and if i had to buy just one of all Zeiss lenses ever, it would be this one, though i know i am not good at manual focusing esp. with such Tele focal having shallow DoF. Thanks Ken & Omesh.
Chirag Parikh I have had my eye on the 100 macro for a while. I read that it doesn't give full 1:1 magnification. How did you overcome that, with extension tubes?
it is a Half-Macro Lens, and i won't buy it for Macro use, but Close-up / Head-shots / Portraits & General purpose. Would rather have Tokina 100/2.8 for dedicated macro. I don't know how would zeiss perform with extension tubes, but that is an option. My 2nd favorite lens after 100/2 would be 85/1.4 Classic.
50mm 1.4 Planar
85mm 1.4 Planar
100mm f2 Macro Planar
35mm 1.4 Distagon
35mm f2 Distagon
I got the Zeiss ZF 35 f2 for $200 in Vietnam. It changed my life.
Time to hunt down the 50 and 85 f1.4’s now
Loved this video dearly. It makes total sense that you are a Virgo. They are the best, and you exemplify them beautifully. Happy belated!

Give yourself a break, take the day off and have a sublime 44th birthday Ken :)
100mm macro has a long throw for macro work.Nothing wrong there if you use for macro, better long throw than short one.
Hi Ken - what do you think of the 18 and the 15?
Happy Birthday to my favorite RUclips Channel man. Go have a pizza and take a day off! Cheers
werd man!!!!
My favorite is CELERE HS Prime Lenses.

Thank you for your prompt response.
Have a blissed day of birth!
Interesting, most have the 50mm Planar 1.4 for a bad lens?
happy birthday man!
Have you tried a Zeiss Ultron 50mm 1.8 m42 mount? I would enjoy seeing you thoughts on the lens.
yes, i owned one actually, mehhhhhhhh, the Voigtlander is far better, the new 50 1.2
@@KenTheoriaApophasis Interesting! Thank you for the reply. Yes, I would expect a newer 50mm 1.2 to be better optically.
Hi! Have you try the Distagon 25mm 2.8? What do you think about that?
beautiful nerd talk ---
Happy bday sir
How do these zeiss lenses compare with the old contax zeiss lenses
modern ones have more color saturation and better bokeh
help... I'm thinking about buying a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar Zebra 50mm f1.8 ... is it any good? I can't find any satisfactory info online about this lens...
A bit late happy birthday!!
What do you think about Apo Sonnar T* 2/135? If I remember well, you didn't like it that much. If so, why is that?
expensive as hell and not that impressive, the Nikkor is better , the 135mm
Thanks! I see, hope I'll get one of the 135 one day.
Based on your recommendation I found the 50 f1.4, 100 mp, and the 35 f2 used for a pretty good price. The 35mm is my favorite lens also. thanks for the good work.

Happy Birthday, Jet Pizza time....
heart attack time !!!
Hi Ken, what about Zeiss 135mm APO f/2 Sonnar?
Why nobody talks about the Minolta AF 100mm f2?
Btw, 800 USD for a used mint condition 35mm F2 expensive?
a CPU one or NON CPU one?
+Theoria Apophasis ZF.2 version ... i guess cpu?
I thought the Milvus 2/35 was a rehoused Distagon 2/35 optical design
ehh, nope :P hehehehe
Are you saying it's not the same optical design?

Penblwydd Hapus Ken all the best
