You have to give props to the developers for actually implementing an offline mode at launch though, they knew the servers would be questionable at launch so they offered an alternative so people can still play their game.
They had intentions for an offline mode without knowing their servers would be bad. Offline mode was a planned option for a long time because people like having an offline option.
28:05 Sapient is the word you're looking for, I think. Sentient is anything with self-awareness, which includes dogs, plants, insects. Sapient means intelligent, or civilisation-having in general. For what it's worth, the Osprix and their whole look and feel looks like it's been modelled after Osiris, which probably does include a few death-culty elements. And hey, fire's a lot cleaner than some of the other options in this game.
You want to launch the game selecting "full offline" mode if you want to be able to pause and not have chat. If you launch as normal and select offline mode from there you still connected to the net to launch the game, can't pause, and chat will show up.
The birds are a race of people called Osprix. They are devout of Rahyeh the god who either created them or they were created in Rahyeh's image. So yes, very sentient.
Honestly with the offline to online characters thing more games should have what Diablo 2 and Dungeon Defenders did of have a Open and "ranked"(I forget the actual name) so people can pull their mega cheaty characters onto the open one but then the ranked is for the people who want absolutely no suspicious players online experience
I feel like a good compromise would be to add peer-to-peer multiplayer for offline mode, to at least let friends play amongst each other without affecting the rest of the online community. Might be too much work for such a small team during their first ever game launch so I'm obviously not asking them to add this, but I feel like it'd be a good compromise.
Interesting - I've seen adverts for this but had written it off as likely to be average at best. That title is extremely high praise coming from you, and that's enough for me to keep an eye on it. I've been trying to play Nightingale this week and had a hell of a time with the server issues, so it would be nice to have an offline game that I can play in the meantime...
My friend and I have been playing void knight and bladedancer, respectively. Other than loading hiccups, we've been able to focus on melee combat. Fortunately for us, latency has been stable enough, and the melee skills are just a blast to play. My dancing strikes have a chance to proc shurikens every other attack, set up an arena area where we have an increased chance to cause bleed, heals me when I hit an enemy with it, and that's just the top three things off the top of my head. But I still use a very buffed cinder strike because... EXPLOSIONS!!! (Volatile flask is the primary buff for this skill... MORE EXPLOSIONS!!!!) My buddy uses a ridiculously fast shield charge that seems to delete screens of trash as well as some harder enemies, and he seems to proc a shadow doing the spin-to-win move after he kills enemies on a regular basis. And he's tanky as tank while causing EXLOSIONS!!!! In other words, we're literally having a blast. As far as cool stuff, I used a rune of ascension and crafted the druid pelt that makes your werebear's fur white and pretty, so my next toon just might be a primalist named Snowball.
But like. Are both of you guys undying gods the entire time you play? All the classes look cool, but the game looks like you can't have a challenge until you reach the "end."
@@Mattfreeman89 if we were playing hardcore, we would have some rerolls. There are all sorts of minibosses with some challenges, there are random mobs that hurt, and exiled mages are damage sponges that can dish out the pain. Oh, and Lagon is no joke, and he's just the chapter 8 boss. In other words, you CAN die to almost anything if you're reckless, which puts me at a disadvantage... the +9% extra damage taken for dual wielding doesn't help my cause, neither.
Spellblade has to have been based on the Diablo 1 mage. I remember getting one so powerful that I could kill everything either by melee or spell. It was hilarious and awesome
"They've already stated that they're planning to add more to this game..." I think you can pretty much look to Path of Exile for what to expect in regards to how content will be added in Last Epoch. Each cycle will have new activities, uniques, skills and so on, and some of them will be bigger content drops similar to PoE expansions, like a brand new endgame system or smth.
Equipment being taken as an upgrade for being a greater rarity is not "usually fine" in an ARPG. While blue over white is almost always better, soon as you start getting yellows those are not always better than blues. Especially not in this game. What stats are on the items matter.
It's a tossup. I'll have to play both to completion to compare them comfortably, but LE makes a better first impression and has a better new player experience IMO.
I picked this up about a year ago and really liked what there was, been waiting until the 1.0 release. From what I've played again, there's something here that just clicks with me so much more than other ARPG's.
I'm annoyed by the fact he ignores the icons in the bottom right the whole playthrough :( Either he's not paying attention or the game has to adjust they UI to make it more clear that it needs action
Wander, you are absolutely racist against goblins and ors... They may have hobbies too. Yes, they scream different if you slaughter them but they might have feelings. In most ARPGs you are a massmurderer. One really weird moment i had regarding this issue was in "Wolfenstein: The New Order" where you play as Billie THE Psychobutcher himself and people start to thank you for being the "good guy" because you put literally hundreds of knives into all different bodyparts of their enemies...😳
Unless you're specifically playing with people directly [as in all in a group together on the same map], there's almost no difference between online & offline.
I don't like this. Your mc can't even dodge, roll or has similar fast move action. You can't control your attack and movement direction at same time by using K&M. Beautiful graphics are also not a plus these days in my opinion.
Every single character has a "travel skill" that works as a dodge movement aswell. Being able to control the movement and attack direction was always like this in this kind of games, so it's clearly a prference issue. And beautiful graphics are certainly a plus. It's not something to really rate a game on, but it is a plus.
At least it has an offline mode, thats a plus.

wanderbots "lets make a mage" .. ... me
Which is a mastery for the mage that you pick around level 15-20
Yeah you can't start with spellblade, it's a specialization branch of the mage base class. He literally mentioned it at the start.

I imagine it’s split this way to avoid hackers and save-editors effecting the leaderboards and the marketplace.

The intro cinematic is generalized and new. The first bit you played through is how it was in beta for the past few if not several months though.
Tekken tried an action RPG. It ends up not working well with how fighting game special move inputs work unless you made it a side scroller beat em up.
how can i unlock waypoints in this game? i'm new

Gonna watch the Pacific Drive 1.0 video after this one, Wander, don't worry 😊

PoE probably is a lot better in many ways. I like LE, but it is missing a lot that will get added each cycle I hope.
I don't know if I should wait for POE2 or start this game out hmm
Why not play this until PoE2 is released?

I couldn't even watch 10 minutes of the game. The screen shake is to bad.
Not a fan of clickbait titles. Game is ok, long way to go, no endgame to speak of for instance.
Well, this'll age like milk until it the online is actually functional.
It's 100% functional to play offline

Play offline. This isn’t a game that you need to trade to make a decent build.
So it wont age like milk.
