Wolfenstein-like alternate timeline, dieselpunk spacecrafts and a weapon that can rival those from Warhammer 40k. Imagine if this wasn't a comedy sci-fi movie, but an action sci-fi.
Archaic in looks only, imagine the sheer fucking technical sophistication to have all those moving gears, hydraulics, pistons etc etc working perfectly fine on it's initial launch, and then still work fine after taking some nukes directly. Not to mention they somehow have fusion and anti grav shenanigans with this.
@@temperusmaximus7268 I was wondering how they engineered all that without access to a lot of the technical resources actually needed to manufacture that sort of stuff, I mean, it’s the moon

They're really important, so you want to make sure that they don't get pulled accidentally. No 'whoopsie, accidentally fired the helium cannon, tee hee!'
The dog was clearly not wanting to do what it was told. Of course he was being told to destroy part of the moon, you know these folks home since at least the end of WW2.
One of the better Sci Fi offerings (although I think the influx of money and 'ideas' from Hollywood undermined it somewhat, see the original trailer). I also enjoyed the sequel, 'The Coming Race', which was more of a romp through the tropes.
The concept of both movies was literally to be romps through the tropes. It's a parody on both, nazi delusions of grandeur and post ww2 conspiracy idiots.
@@tonythedwvyer The original was in a league of its own like Raider's of the Lost Ark was. The sequels of Raiders were mostly ludicrous pap not worthy of mentioning though The Last Crusade was pretty good. I suspect a further sequel might be good but like Raiders, 1 good sequel and 3 bad ones.

@@tonythedwvyer My comment wasn't about you posting a scene. I thought Iron Sky was going to be serious hard science fiction. Something along the lines of Robert Heinlein's Rocket Ship Galileo. I was very disappointed when I found out it was a parody.
@@cindydott452 I get that. I think some of Heinlein's work should be done as hard SciFi films. Starship Troopers was a hoot, but not true to the book. 'Farmer in the Sky' could be good, I think.

It was kinda both of these.
For some reason I always love space ships with archaic mechanisms.
steampunk like feeling

Why are the levers that are important always super hard to pull?
Dramatic effect or there's always a shortage of WD40 !!
It those levers were made by the soviets you would you need a hammer to "pull" them.
@@nobleman9393 Yup, the Soviets were big on interference fits.

"Vollmond war gestern" ist der beste Spruch im ganzen Film
Es war ziemlich gut
@@tonythedwvyerit isn’t a helium cannon, it’s a metallic-hydrogen cannon 🙄😒
I like this weapon idea and theme of this final boss ship in this movie!
That intro makes me wonder what games were available at the Iron Sky site.

thought a tour guide said at one point in the movie that the projectiles were metallic hydrogen
I think you are probably right !
I need to watch that movie again

Such a great movie

You're right. That looked nasty !
From the film dub i heard it used Metallic Hydrogen
I watched it in Englidh & don't recall that.
I shall watch it again shortly and will look out for it.
There's an IronSky 2 but I've not seen it yet.
I have. It's nowhere near as good as the first film. Funny & silly though. I will utter no spoilers.
