If you watch some of her other videos, she tells what she is doing. It is similar in most videos once you understand the basics of soap making.
As a chemist (and artist), I appreciate the precision .. that's what attracted me to soap making in the 90's, before it was a rage ... no videos were available back then. The process and ingredients and tools have COME TO FAR, elevating this craft nearly to FINE ART!! Just getting back into it after MANY years of not making it .... can't wait to try some of these cool techniques! Thank you for the inspiration and very well-done videos.

I've never noticed you using a "planer" on your soaps before. I'm sure you've done it in a ton of video, this is probably from my own oversight. I have noticed the perfectly square edges and how professional your soaps look, it was really nice to see that subtle detail in here.
Question, the black 'mica' lines from the charcoal here. Does this cause the soap to bleed a little black in the shower? I've had this issue recently with charcoal and didn't know what I was doing wrong or if this is standard. Thanks as always.

Talking through your process and what products you use would be helpful. Knowing where to possibly purchase your soaps? I like the fact you are extremely precise. You are also very clean process throughout your video.
I have narrated two of my videos. I am getting a lot of feedback like this. My worry is that if I explain it as I go, the videos will increase in length quite a bit because I speed up almost everything.
I only have a Facebook page to buy soap from. It is a cumbersome process. I mainly just sell my soaps locally. I am taking steps to get a website up and running and then I will promote it.

If you put subtitles you could have a good instructional video. I see people in groups who appreciate step by step broken down into teeny increments helpful.
I love this layered soap,as a new soaper may I ask why between placing in one colour into mould you place the clear cover on top while you mix your next colour to your liking ??
Thank you Tanya! I place the cover on the top to help the poured batter set up. It helps me to be able to pour the next layer without breaking through.
Very Beautiful soap! I was wondering if you mix the soap to different densities or if is just a matter of different colors. They will not melt back together once overlapped?

No, just make sure there is no loose charcoal on the surface. Blow off any excess.💖

Hi! An interesting technique is that you first mixed the oils with the color and titanium dioxide, and only then added the alkali. This is so that the reaction does not start faster than necessary?

Beautiful soap!! Love it!! I have a question of your technique that spraying the charcoal powder in a layer. I tried same procedure you showed in the video but the layer part is separated into two pieces after soap dry. Can you please advise what is the reason and the solution? Thank you !!
Oh, maybe you sprayed too much. I always make sure the powder looks wet. I used a bulb syringe to blow off any excess. Try that. 😊

It is how I divide the loaf evenly with out using any math. The loaf is a little less than 8 inches. I put the zero on one end and the 8 on the other and I get equal pieces if I mark on the inch marks.
Two questions... when I watch your videos you always have TD already mixed in a bottle ready to add to any coloring... Is this something that can be done in advance and if so, how long will it last in the squirt bottle. Also, what was that Sprayer you used to add the black powder? Where can it be purchased? Thank you, Victoria! When I first started mixing it up like that, I kept it in the fridge, but now I just keep it out because I use it fast enough that it never has time to go bad. If you are worried, just keep it in the fridge. (Just get it out plenty of time before you are ready for it, so it can come to room temperature.) Absolutely beautiful. One question, how long do you wait between pouring layers so they don't punch through or bleed together?
You just wait until the previous layer was sent, meaning is doesn't jiggle too much when you bump the mold. It took about 15 minutes, but it depends on the fragrance and other factors.

You techniques are WONDERFUL 😍 why not blend it to high trace insted of waiting? I'M just a newbie..
Thank you! I just didn't want it to accelerate too fast. Doing it this way, you have a little more control over your trace. I also don't like to stick blend smaller amounts of batter because it tends to introduce lots of air bubbles into the batter. Good luck on your soap making journey! 💟

The fragrance is known to accelerate, so I added it last.

Hi I love ur video keep me watching till the end, may I ask about what do you do to prevent glycerin happen while you are using much TD, and are you stocking TD in bottle with water? thankyou
Using less water helps to get rid of glycerin rivers. I use '25% water as a percentage of oil weight' in soapcalc. I pre-dilute my TD in olive oil (1 part TD to 3 parts oil). It is tricky to get the specks out completely (I use a blender), but once it's done, you can easily stir it into the batter without stick blending.

At what temps do you begin to mix your lye water into your oils? I'm struggling with finding the right temps as my batter gets too thick too soon for mixing colors. Thanks!
I use 85-95 degrees F. Not too cold, not too hot. Just make sure you only mix your batter to an emulsion. That will give you more time. Also, make sure your recipe consists of less saturated oils than unsaturated. The number ratio is in the upper right-hand corner of soap calc. Make sure your colors are ready. 👍💕

What do you do with the scraps that you cut off?
I made a similar soap with mica pencil line. But when I cut it with knife, there's drag mark from the mica lines. Is it because my soap is too soft? or there won't be drag mark if I use wire cutter? I only dusted a really thin layer or mica though. Thanks a lot!!!
I think it should be harder
It would be best if you lay it on the side to cut it; that way, the drag lines are right on top of the line itself.

I know this video is old for you, but about the pencil line, about how much activated charcoal is going on that layer? And what did the suction bulb do, blow off excess? I just did pencil lines in a soap and some of my layers split off some of the bars, I assume I used too much... Tips?
I have never measured the amount, but yes, you are right. The bulb syringe is to blow off excess. The mica/charcoal should look wet. I have never had my layers break apart, and I think that is because there is no dryness between my layers.
@@TreeMarieSoapworks ok, I put on too much then 😂 thanks so much for the tip, I planned to do another pencil line but was nervous about a repeat. Luckily I just had a newborn so I've got some extra suction bulbs laying so around.
