    Thanks for posting this, I have the FT-2DE and the FTM-400XDE and didn't truly understand the capabilities of these radios. I'm looking forward to getting within range of a repeater this weekend and trying it out. 73

    Thanks. Great information for Wires-X neophytes, like myself, using the FTM-400.

    Interesting note on the 400 returning to VFO mode out of Wires-X. I was playing around with my 400 that I've had about a week and noticed that. I thought I had done something wrong until I saw you comment about it. Thanks!

    Do you pick any freq you want to connect to wire x how about the offset I see some using simplex freq and some using offset? Great video thx

    Can you do a start to finish video on this. Everyone always has it all programmed into the rig. I’m having issues getting to the repeater period. I’ve only used hf and am new to do repeater work and digital

    Nice video! If I use an FT2DR to connect to a local repeater that is connected to Wires x, should I change it back to the normally connected room after I'm done if I changed it to another room? I'm thinking if it's like D-STAR linking & unlinking on a Reflector back to its normal state.

    Thanks for posting. I too run a public access node here in the U.K. Utilising FTM400 as both node and mobile radios. I use the FT2 to do as you are doing here also.
    I am interested in the mobile fitting in your vehicle please. I have just purchased a very expensive new SUV and am looking for a tidy non damaging install. Your mount looks like what I am after

    Where can i go to learn the basics of the ft400 and also the programming of the wires and fusion. Just got the radio and its great but i am new enough to be lost already. Seems like a great entry radio to both repeaters and digital

    How do i unlink from a room to connect to another with ot getting out of wires x mode?

    • @edporter4208
      @edporter4208 2 года назад

      The same way he connected to that room. You can go from one to the next. I noticed that he left the repeater in that room rather than returning it to its original room. The repeater might time out and automatically revert to its normal room.

    New to ham and digital specifically. Just got my first digital radio, a Yaesu FTM-400DX. Just have a couple questions, as my buddy who is also new to the WIRES and fusion system, also doesn't know. We've both only had them for about 2 days, and he's more familiar with D-star. When connected to the WIRES network, are you broadcasting through the room to others in the same room across the world? Or just to those within range of the repeater? We're trying to decipher exactly how the WIRES network functions. Unfortunately, most of the WIRES capable or system fusion towers around here, are not operational at this moment. Tried connecting to one the other day, with no response. Hopefully you can answer this, as haven't had much luck thus far. KE8DZK

      I will try and answer both of your questing here... Still fairly new to this myself. When you transmit on a Wires-x system, you have to have a wires-x capable repeater. When I say this, the repeater has to have internet access for the system to work, it also needs a system fusion repeater.
      It could also be run through a local machine say at your home, the radio you have is quite capable of doing such, but you will need another radio capable of wires-x to talk to the one one connected to the internet via an HRI-200, as far as I can tell, the radio acts as a repeater and you can't hear anyone because the radio is transmitting any received signals via the HRI-200 (Wires-X network).
      I have a 991 at home, connected to the HRI-200, but this radio is NOT capable of digital communications between it and the HRI-200, but is capable of it via my FTR-400. This does not stop it from being a Wires-X node, I just have to know the room DTMF and use DTMF to change to that room.
      Sorry, I know this is not very clear, but with my limited hands on, it is the best I can produce at this time.

      +Dean Thompson I figured it out about 3 months ago. Unfortunately, none of the nodes function around here. They're more than likely private, and only active when the owner intends on using them personally. Basically, my FTM-400 only works as a regular unit, like the one in my truck. The repeaters in range are analog only, and the Fusion repeaters are not connected to WiresX (provided they're even turned on, or even have analog capability enabled). The only time digital mode even works, is when in QSO with my buddy with another 400. Everyone is still stuck in analog stone ages around here.

    • @FTORC1

      +Dean Thompson Sorry, provided the local Fusion towers have DIGITAL enabled, not analog. All of them, to include Fusion repeaters, only recognize analog. And the Fusion repeaters, more often than not, are offline.

      Yeah, that is an issue, and if these people don't put these repeaters into auto, then Digital will never take off. Some think analog will go away, I feel probably one day it will go away with the increased demand for frequencies come along. I seen no one replied, and I only had just seen the video and your comments, glad you got it figured out... 73s

    When you push the WiresX button, will the radio seen out a node to connect to or do you have to have entered the repeater onto memory already? Thanks.

    • @richardjohnson6839
      @richardjohnson6839 6 лет назад

      You have to have the repeater in your system, the radio will not seek out a node repeater in your area. repeaterbook.com is very useful in this aspect, as it can show repeaters in your area that are C4FM, DMR, etal..
