I had to quit figure skating because I was afraid of falling and it meant that I would hesitate before my jumps, I couldn’t “f*ck it and chuck it” like I needed to. Overcoming that fear is super hard!
I used to be able to do front and back flips until I botched it and landed on my head one time and felt my neck almost snap as my weight came down. I just managed to save myself by getting my hands down and pushing off the ground, but I had lasting trouble with my neck for a long time and came so close to serious injury. Now I can't make myself do them anymore. If I force a jump and tuck, I immediately rotate and put my arms out automatically. My mind simply refuses in the same way you freak out when you hold your breath for too long.
I never imagined that your biggest problem was not being able to jump! You jump like me and I'm a big fat bloke!😂 Perhaps you should incorporate jumping etc., into your regular training to improve your overall agility/flexibility.

Generally I'm very good at jumping, but when thinking about somersaulting too my brain wouldn't let let jump 🤣🤣🤣 infuriating haha!!

The start of the back flip looks like a sandbag toss, just need to triple extend. Easy for me to say tho, I'm not the one doing it
