She returned in the flooded wellies, but after her statement that water was only few centimeters over the top, I decided for attempt to cross the flooded road. And successfully.
0:56 That's an interesting one for the insurance. I'm assuming the guy in the Land Rover towing the Renault is to blame. having said that, why didn't the driver of the Renault steer his car to the right ffs?
There should be a sign there that says if u get stuck or car turns off don't turn it back on. When people try helping don't let them turn their engine over with the spark plugs still on the engine cause it will just damage it more. You want to get as much water out without the engine being on and just turn it over with the plugs off and the engine should spit most of the water out wait a couple hours then put plugs back in and turn it over and hope for the best.
no you don't want to remove spark plugs to relese water. You want this clown to try and start stalled car so he can bend rods and pay mechanic overhaul or new engine. Stupidity should cost money.
Exactly how hard is it to drive a mile or two out of the way to avoid this place. I have never seen anyone attach a tow rope to their engine before. Nice. I hope someone is making a database of all number plates that drive through here so people can avoid ever buying them as used cars!
Why don’t you start the database? You will need to set up a website too and manage the database and pay for the domain. It will be a big commitment in your life, but since you suggested it! The rest of us have better things to do with our free time. On another note apparently it is a three mile detour to avoid this ford and I would definitely do the detour. I like my car to be pristine.
There is a depth marker, on most of these clips the water is around 18” 6” is generally the deepest you should try, deeper and you risk damage. I doubt insurers pay out if you drive through a flood. Repair bills could be huge.
People don’t know but slow and steady is the way to go, the less you move the water (flying into it shoving it over your hood) the better and lower the water will stay and not flood you.
Kissel From watching I think the best strategy is to instantly slow down as soon as you hit water, making the wave you created faster then the car and then just follow the wave
good car owner should know where is engine air intake on their car. That is safe line to go in deep water. If air intake is high, near hood you're good witg slow and steady. If air intake is low to the ground, in bumper area (on sport cars usually) then it's better to just go detour.

Does anyone know if insurers are actualy paying out to these drivers? Failing to observe and act on roadsigns in other contexts can void insurance policies, so does ignoring water depth warning signs let the insurers off the hook too? I'd be interested to know.
Depends on the insurance company and the type of insurance I guess
I know there are some that are invalidated if you go past a 'road closed' sign and have an accident but these probably not as they're a mistake accident, like going too fast around a corner etc
The insurance companies should subscribe 😀

Breaking News: *Rufford Ford makes Car Insurances rise in Britain* 😂
The insurer might refuse payment. The owner/driver used a car in a way that exceeds its capacity as it is declared by the car manufacturer.
I'm glad they fixed the escort. I had one of these, a MKVI, I loved that car.
Another thing that surprises is how buoyant some of these cars appear to be. You can see some of them are being moved by the current.

Inexperienced Escort driver. 12 years ago with my Escort TD '99 I crossed similar deep ford without any trouble. But as first step, I sent my wife test the depth. She returned in the flooded wellies, but after her statement that water was only few centimeters over the top, I decided for attempt to cross the flooded road. And successfully.
🤣

0:56 That's an interesting one for the insurance. I'm assuming the guy in the Land Rover towing the Renault is to blame. having said that, why didn't the driver of the Renault steer his car to the right ffs?
is this like the uk's car version of the polar plunge?
Human stupidity is highly entertaining - love your videos! 😂
Went onto RUclips looking at car reviews for a new car, ended up near and actually it’s pretty helpful 😂

Exactly how hard is it to drive a mile or two out of the way to avoid this place. I have never seen anyone attach a tow rope to their engine before. Nice. I hope someone is making a database of all number plates that drive through here so people can avoid ever buying them as used cars!
Yeah that tow strap on the engine😂😂
Why don’t you start the database? You will need to set up a website too and manage the database and pay for the domain. It will be a big commitment in your life, but since you suggested it! The rest of us have better things to do with our free time.
On another note apparently it is a three mile detour to avoid this ford and I would definitely do the detour. I like my car to be pristine.
Is there a live channel for the ford
There is a depth marker, on most of these clips the water is around 18”
6” is generally the deepest you should try, deeper and you risk damage.
I doubt insurers pay out if you drive through a flood. Repair bills could be huge.
Nice to see a few clips on how it should be done too!
I love the way the hydraulic kicks in!

I'm still wondering why those who fit snorkels to their car have the openings pointing forwards (8:40)
For the ram effect... 😎
Because most of the time you’re driving forwards so the air comes from the front
The crowd made me smile....finding joy in tragedy is a way to keep peace....
People don’t know but slow and steady is the way to go, the less you move the water (flying into it shoving it over your hood) the better and lower the water will stay and not flood you.
Yep, get a little bow wave going and keep the revs up, make sure you know how deep it is!
Kissel
From watching I think the best strategy is to instantly slow down as soon as you hit water, making the wave you created faster then the car and then just follow the wave
Only idiots don't know that, plain logic or small experience in mechanics or either driving school.
good car owner should know where is engine air intake on their car. That is safe line to go in deep water. If air intake is high, near hood you're good witg slow and steady. If air intake is low to the ground, in bumper area (on sport cars usually) then it's better to just go detour.
4:43 that’s me 😂😂😂😂

Sometimes it works if you get a bit water in the engine the engine dies but it doesn't need to be damaged
Especially the Mitsubishi. That was oil sprayed all over the engine bay wasn't it. Surely a clue all is not well, but they still tried to start it.
