New Pivoting & Folding RV Steps - Enhanced Design
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 янв 2018
- After using our side entry Truck Camper for over 5 years, it had become clear that new entry steps were needed. The original steps worked great when the camper was off the truck and lowered down, however, when the camper was on the truck, and higher, the steps were always too high necessitating an additional step be used to bridge the gap. To rectify this problem, I built a new longer set of pivoting & foldable steps, easily attached, that adjust for uneven terrain!. These new set of steps were also all aluminum making them light and rust proof, and foldable for easy storage when traveling.

I love your ingenuity!!! Keep the vids coming. I'm hitting the road for my maiden voyage in my new Northstar Arrow in a couple of weeks! Just retired at the end of the year so now the next chapter begins.... Thank you!
I love it. I did something very similar with a Little Giant on my custom camper build.
You just fix my problem with my pop up trailer steps. Thanks 🙏 you are smart
Thanks for sharing what you figured out to modify the Little Giant for your application. My challenge is the habitat box door entry height on my expedition camper. It is 48" from ground, and I would need 6 steps. I looked around and the best system in US out there are the typical accordion retractable ones, but they have their problems, including the Torklift.
The folding mechanism of the parallelogram works better for my needs. I was giving up hope on the 4-step one you use. But I decide to buy one to closely examine it, to see if I can buy two to get enough for 6 steps, and replace the 4 rails with longer ones that I will have to fabricate my own. Little Giant makes some of the best products in the US.
I suspect the steps most likely are fastened to the rails through the round AL rods with crimps on both sides. That would makes it very challenging for the modification.
Love the problem-solving. Awesome video. Thank you :)
Really nice adaptation. Thanks for sharing.
This is such a great idea and very well executed. Do you think it would be possible to further modify this ladder to reduce the rise between steps? I need to have about a 4" rise to accommodate someone with restricted mobility. The ladder would be used on a travel trailer with a 19" rise from ground to the top of the floor level. Thanks very much.
This is fantastic. Well done!!
Hi Charles-I love watching all of your mods! I have been searching for a while for the perfect mod for us. We are switching from a side entrance tc to a back entrance because we can’t find a side entrance that works! We tow a horse trailer or boat and leave the horse trailer hooked up all the time. I am looking for a great idea for a landing (2.5 feet between camper & trailer nose) and steps going straight toward the passenger side from the landing. The landing needs to go over my Jack on horse trailer, so a Fox landing coming off bumper won’t work. Help! This would be just for when we’re parked-we can crawl up the hitch when traveling. I’m looking for a perfect idea! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good job
well done. Id like to see how you could modify it so it's a permanent attachment. Like it swings up and is secured to the camper door or something. Well done!
Great video!
You are a genius!
How did you dismantle the back stand, did you need to cut the axles?
One major question. All looks real nice. Now comes the problem of how to store the steps. Folding straight up possibly with a clamp on the outside of the camper door? How would you do that if I may ask. Thank you.
I have found the easiest way to store the steps is in the back seat of my truck!
very nice ,thanks for helpful tips
What a great mod!
Hello Charles, great idea thx for sharing. Could you please post a link to this self-leveling black extention at the bottom. Thx

Awesome.
We want to ask you, do you rent a bay like that somewhere, we store ours near Orlando and it's outside which we aren't happy about, thank you for your answer in advance. Never mind, sorry, I've watch more the video and see you have a workshop there too. You must own that building. Great idea with the steps.
but isnt permanent atached not?
Talk about over engineered! GM should hire you, lol.
Can you tell me with this mod how tall it is folded for storage/ Thank you
The steps are about 5' long and about 4"thick when folded up.
why do you stare at the viewer like that?!
