I fished their a lot late 70s & beginning of the 80s, caught a lot of the tucanares and some bass. That small cove on the side of the ramp is where I caught my first largemouth about 2pounds.
I love how your pigeon comes right out when your home with family. So different from the beginning of the video. I love it, I’m the same way when I come and visit home. First time viewer and a new subscriber 🤙🏽.
Howsit Gavin! The smallest jerkbaits you got! Light line, 6lb floro. I like to flip any June bug or green pumpkin worm or small creature bait as well.. also some 3/0 ewg paired w/ small white zoom flukes!
Light line is key! Any light whipping set up is good.. small flukes and tiny topwaters work good. If you check out Brian’s fishing supply they have some good stuff for lake wilson! Tell them I sent you! 🤙🏽
@@Oneway.Micah808 I really like a 2/0 & 3/0 Gamakatsu ewg, with the 4” & 5” fluke! The Campania frantics work along with the zoom flukes! Run em on 8lb - 10lb floro carbon!
Brah I never been to the lakes in Hawaii but for sure this year I’m heading to lake wilson I wanna land a peacock bass brah that’s to say I caught one ☝️ and take a pic
It's so sad how the largemouth have become so rare. Wasn't like that when I was young. I caught a 5 pounder right behind my Internediate School, now known as Wahiawa Middle School. We rode our bikes from Whitmore to fish there. Now the genetics are all messed up from inbreeding, so a lot of them look skinny and deformed. I wish they would stock some Floridas in there!
Yeah it’s very sad. I remember those days too.. it was just as common to catch a largemouth then it was to catch a tuc. I think the state will start stocking largemouth again, we got a bill passed 3 years ago… now it’s up to dlnr l believe. Hopefully one day it can make a rebound!
Yeah man, hopefully soon tho the department of AG will be able to bring in more northern strain LM to diversify the bloodline… it passed the house last year!
Omg the elusive largie of lake wilson 😛🤣🤣. Will be back there soon !!!!
Peacock have been on my bucket list since I was a kid. I never knew they were on the Islands. So cool 🤙
That’s awesome Curtis! Yeah they’re super fun fighting fish! You gotta try em out sometime!!
I hope you get a chance to check it off your bucket list because they are a awesome fish to catch and way stronger than a largemouth bass

@@MattyWongFishing they won't bring florida bass out cuase they are afraid they will eat the native birds which does not make sense
Do you need a license to fish freshwater?
Yes.
