@@MattyWongFishing ok gotcha ya brah yeah my homie already have a pole for me when I get there just want rimland a peacock cuz I’m in oregon and won’t be in Florida to fish for them but I’m always out in Oahu so yeah it’s on my target list
@@MattyWongFishing I never been to lake wilson is there’s lots of bank fishing spots or do I need a lil boat etc brah I just want to catch one and call it a day we only have large mouth and small mouth no peacock here
@@pnw_element9822 there isn’t a lot of shoreline accessibility.. the best would be at the state park where the boat ramp is located. You can fish around that area, there’s a good population that lives right at the ramp. There isn’t any boat rentals or kayaks available. It’s illegal to take a stand up paddle board but I’ve seen people do it. The other shoreline areas are populated with homeless so it can get sketchy.. if you decide to cut down off the Highway, make sure you don’t leave anything if your rental car. It will get broken into. You’ll be fine at the boat ramp tho.
@@MattyWongFishing yeah I never leave stuff in my rental nah my boy from there is taking me he don’t fish so he don’t know much about spots besides the beaches etc and again thanks brah for the reply appreciate that
id say small flukes, small jerkbaits and small topwaters. you can also throw glide baits for them as well. theres alot of great stuff at Brain's fishing supply!
Peacock bass feed exclusively on smaller fish... so any lure or fly that looks or acts like a little fish works fine. Work it fast and Do Not stop if you get a strike or a chase... keep reeling. Don't worry about setting the hook... just keep reeling, the peacock bass will set the hook for you. LOL
Not really, fishing near the boat ramp is pretty much it. The best luck I had was catching the talapia fry and putting them on a #24 hook to catch cicalids and I used those for live bait . I caught 3 my daughter caught 1. We lost about 5! A local boy about 12 years old caught 8 peacock bass and 2 large mouth Bass and about a 6 lb channel catfish. Lures didn't work at all. The locals said you needed a boat to get to the peacock bass that would hit lures. Good luck!
Great tip Josh, it’s not illegal to utilize baby talapia or guppies as bait.. near the boat ramp there’s a bit of shore access but there are a couple more spots where you can access the shore. Kimo’o farms has a subway where you can park and walk down, there’s also a couple spots along the highway. Just know at break ins aren’t uncommon so make sure you don’t leave any valuables in your car. 6lb test, small jerkbaits and top waters work well if you wanna throw lures! Good luck!
You kids are having entirely too much fun. 🤣🤣🤣 Good to see the lake level up high again... this should help the spawn. FISH ON !

Great sesh. Are they line shy over there?
Thanks!!! Yes they are… I wouldn’t throw anything more than 12lb. When I throw finesse topwaters it’s all 6lb mono

Brian’s fishing supply in Honolulu! Tell em Matty sent ya!

@@MattyWongFishing what me and my friend have been using is kastmasters to cast out in to boiling fish and we’ve Ben catching a few but not to many
@@MattyWongFishing my friend lost the biggest peacock I’ve ever seen around 5 to 7 as his second ever it was crazy
@@Reefsmith unreal!
Love me some Lake Wilson!! 😎
Can I target them with just a senko or a ned rig?im targeting this fish this coming august
You can try…. White ned rigs work sometimes. There isn’t much bottom forage for them. They mainly feed on talapia, guppies & tiny shad.

Almost imposable to fish the lake from shore... if you don't have a boat, try renting a kayak and taking it up to the lake.
4 day wait for a banger???
Yessir!! Haha it will worth it ;) 🙏🏼🙌🏽
I live like 10 min from this place
