Excellent comparison... I have to admit, I'm more intrigued about the AX than I thought I would be. Looks like the only disadvantage the AX had was the front shocks unloading a few times to get a little top heavy in front. It looks like Axial did put alot of thought into the design. Great video, thanks. Zippy
Glad you enjoyed it! I was pleasantly surprised by the AX24 as well, and I think you nailed it, the soft shocks unloading because of the weight up high is basically the only real issue I’m seeing in the first couple runs with it 🤘🏼
Just bought an AX Don’t live near rc shops and amain/online/Amazon will be used once I break parts. I don’t like immediately upgrading ANYWAYS - I put a hair tie on the front end to eliminate the backflip/top heavy / loosing grip on inclines Also I know it’s not professional, but until weighted knuckles, I taped some nickels to the front rims 10/10 rtr
After driving one this weekend, I will admit that if I had to pick between those two rigs, I would have a really hard time choosing. I think it would just be a looks thing, and I would have to pick the green scx. Great video as always. 👊✌️😎
Thanks brother! I’m glad you got a chance to drive one, it really is a fun little rig but yeah when it comes to looks i love that INJORA buggy build!😄👍🏻
If you don't want to do much modding I think the AX24 is great. Especially for the price. But when you switch out the servos and motor for better ones the price quickly goes up. You could build a very nice SCX24 from scratch with all metal parts about 250$. And that price goes down for every part that you already might have laying around.
Absolutely, the ax24 is a lot of fun and pretty capable out the box but if you are someone who upgrades or mods their rigs pretty much right away then it’s tough to decide between buying one or starting a scratch build with 4ws 👍🏻
@@UpperLeftRC I enjoy squeezing every drop of potential performance out of everything. I spend more time doing that than actually driving it. My next project is a Meyers Manx crawler.......
Great comparison. Your modified is much better in my mind with more options to use. But out of the box the AX24 is a great step forward. The long and soft shocks are awesome, too.
I have a highly modded scx24 and my ax24 also. Out of the box there’s no comparison that the ax is more capable. Mod for mod I feel the ax is still a better chassis (IF) crawling is your ultimate goal. Like the scx, it needs the same basic mods to perform well though.
Been enjoying this Channel and referring to it more so that others lately..... I just modded my deadbolt out with brushless using a lot of your tips and just decided to pick up an ax 24. Would like to see a comparison of the most capable scx24 versus the ax24 out-of-the-box.... Thanks for all the help and good videos you put up...
Glad your enjoying the content and the ax24 is a cool rig, I’m sure you’ll like yours, as far as most capable scx24 I think this buggy is up there in capabilities but I could try putting my ax up against my comp rig 👍🏻
@@UpperLeftRC that would be pretty awesome I'm thinking the deadbolt would make a great comparison and the Spectrum ESC what is a absolute selling point for me because I'm a quadriplegic and I used a gimbal from x9d to make forwards and reverse three wires I tied into the throttle and left and right with three wires make it handicapped-accessible to me but I've been rocking the Spectrum slt3 since I started and this was nice with the two-in-one ESC Revolution..... Anyways I look forwards to your videos and I have personally been looking for the gen9 2-speed transmission so I can put in my gen 8 when it comes to the 10th scale of all of it
I will take the Injora Build over the AX24, love the build, but no dought I will, buy on just because. Never can a Canadian get a new rig video up before anyone else, non of the hobby shops have the AX24 in yet.. great video Dustin
Heck yeah! That’s kinda what I was thinking when I picked up the ax24, I wanted to see what it’s 4ws set up was like and after running it I really like the truck a lot 👍🏻
I owned the original AX-10 Scorpion , it's identical exept for the 4ws , try flipping the shock towers upside down to get the weight down low & run firm springs in the rear & medium up front !! This set up will keep it from torque twisting as it climbs & personally I would figure out a way to put tire weights inside the tires wrapped around the rims also put a regular 1/24th body on it would look cool .! 1 question for you ? which tires are taller the stock 1s or Mudslingers ??? Peace !!
I gotta say of I had to pick between them, I would pick that SCX. The AX24 is not my flavor and that scx is just to cool for school. I loved your video it was very informative. Nice work Dustin.
Get a fly sky gt 5. It has builtin front steer, all wheel steer, crab , and rear wheel steer. Switch between them with the round dial belpw the screen. Thats my goto radio now.
Love to have one of your banners, I got one extra banner holder from grizzly works I think. Yeah they both look great I do like that AX 24, well as always appreciate you sharing until next time peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
Hey Andy I’ll definitely get a banner out to you, I got a couple things I need to send to Jim and Jaysen so I’ll make sure the care package has some banners and stickers etc. in there for them to get to you 😄👍🏻
The AX24 seems easier to control the 4WS system. But the SCX24 has a shorter trans ratio that makes it better on slow crawling. My choice : SCX24 Thanks for this interesting battle.

If only they had a 4th channel like the V2 electronics had. Quick rear steer on a switch and Lights control would have been great. Maybe their "V4" esc will have it.
I call them Credit Card Crawlers haahaha.. The 1/24 should should ship in a empty box with a parts diagram, exploded views, some sharp pictures along with links to those who sell upgrades. I mean if the idea is to replace anything plastic and anything light that leaves little left. Any plastic parts left simply sell upgraded plastic as heavy duty, stamp a known name on it and jack up the price 100%.
Why not utilize a replacement remote and radio/esc from the AX24 and put it in your Injora scx24 buggy build like I did..? Simplified the complicated steering problems…. Also kinda upgrades your remote issues as well…
The AX24 ESC does not allow independent rear steering only, although using a separate switch is not as ergonomic as toggling between steering modes like the AX can. Also the AX24 ESC doesn’t have the same kind of smooth slow speed control that the V2 electronics in the scx24 has, I think either option is good though 👍🏻
Not a fair comparison. Apples tp oranges. Put the same weight on the ax and it will out shine the scx. The ax just needs alot of low weight. Mine has 2 diffrent sets of brass wheels i can use, brass high clearance links, brass steering linkage, a komoto dragon brushless motor (the big one), lizard esc, and no body. I call it the linar rover. Oh ya +4 mm axils. For having the rx , and esc up high shes very capable.
3:50 I wish you had explained what it needs for 4 WS, thats keeping me away, do i have to buy a expensive radio, and especially - do i need reversed servos, where do i find them when i want to upgrade servos ? Watched a video how to reverse a servo theres a lot of tiny soldering involved, you might ruin it. That would have been basic information necessary. Usually you need either an expensive Radio or some special 4WS controller.
The electronics (ESC & receiver) and radio are all stock v2 scx24 electronics. There was no soldering or wiring etc. need for this 4ws mod. All I did was install a stock scx24 front steering axel on the rear of the vehicle with a stock steering servo and plugged the servo into the channel 3 spot on the ESC, this will allow the servo to be manually switched to either full lock left/center/full lock right positions using the channel 3 switch on the stock controller. Sorry for the confusion, it’s a very simple mod that is fun and effective. There are many other ways to get rear steering on a vehicle that has more precise controls but those require more money and other parts to accomplish similarly to the way you described in your comment. Note: the steering servos in the video are technically upgraded to an Emax servo but stock servos will work exactly the same.
I just recently picked up the ax24 only real complaint I have is it’s a little top heavy hoping the brass axles and brass extend hex’s I ordered will fix that
I bought the slt3 and the 2 n 1 rx that comes with the xc-1 and I can not get it to program like it is on the xc-1, but with the button on the slt3 is kinda nice
It's massively top heavy, esc is mediocre at best. Rubber steering links!!! Gotta love those bendy steering links!! A company like Axial has no excuse for producing a C- crawler at best. Spend a few hundred more and it can be much better.

I agree! There are pros and cons to both options but for the money the ax24 is pretty awesome with out needing any upgrades or anything right out the box 😎👍🏻
I’m not sure why you lost power, I just plugged the servo into channel 3 on the stock ESC and it didn’t give me any problems. The servos I used were Emax servos so they might have a low power draw compared to the ones you might be running, if you have some stock servos laying around chuck those in and see if you are still loosing power, if you don’t then the servos you are running might just be to power hungry and the ESC can’t keep up 🤷🏻♂️
What do you your rear steer and light bar plugged into on the esc? I plugged rear steer in channel 3 and light bar in head and only had reverse and fried the esc.
Plug the servo into the channel 3 spot on the ESC, make sure your lights are unplugged and move them to one of the other open channel spots so they don’t flick off and on when steering, you can also adjust the end points on channel 3 by rapid clicking the bind button on the remote 3 times then using the normal steering trim buttons, message me on Facebook or Instagram if you need some more details or help 😄👍🏻
V1 is steered on a switch under the controller lid. V2 is steered on a switch w yo thumb. Both versions support rear steer but not so user friendly as the steering wheel does not control rear steer.
The ax is a scx not the buggy. The buggy really cant be called a scx as the buggy roll cage is the chassis with scx suspension. Ok im nit picking a biy. Had that buggy chassis. Sold it to my brother. My ax blowes it away.

Love this tiny crawler cause of the tires
The tires really pull the look together 😄👍🏻
I think a good combo for a beginner would be the ax24 with the injora rock buggy chassis for an extra 30 bucks
Combining the two might not be a bad idea, I’ll have to try it out 🤙🏻
The ax is a scx not the buggy. The buggy really cant be called a scx as the buggy roll cage is the chassis with scx suspension. Ok im nit picking a biy. Had that buggy chassis. Sold it to my brother. My ax blowes it away.
