but i have a question libby ang kai what are the three motives of credibility for the resurrection?
Hi cxssxndra s., we have seen several “Motives of Credibility”, most agree with the following four:
1. The work or miracles of Christ
2. Prophesy
3. The Church’s growth
4. Wisdom of Revelation
That being said, you could also add that the Apostles are made to look scared and cowardly. If one were to write a myth, you would make them stronger characters. If they were making this up, they certainly wouldn’t have had Jesus appear first to women! That isn't the sort of thing that would have made the story MORE credible to a First-Century Jewish male audience. Keep in mind also that the first disciples - who were around when Jesus was crucified - spread the Good News knowing a similar fate awaited most of them. The fact that the Church has endured through scandal and schism is another motive.
But for one who believes, no “Motive of Credibility” is necessary and for those who truly do not, no “Motive of Credibility” will satisfy them.

The word easter derived from Greek and Latin word "PASCHA", which is taken from the Hebrew "Pesach", meaning Passover. The Passover in Exodus 12:23. Paul was the first to connect the risen Christ to Passover in 1 Corinthians 5:7, he refers to Jesus as the paschal lamb who has been sacrificed for his people's salvation. Add to that the fact that Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples during Passover and it makes sense that even today the Feast of the Resurrection is connected with the Jewish holiday.
1 Corinthians 15:14 "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith."

Hi Azreal, how can you knock a pagan ritual that involves leaving candy in your house? 😊 Seriously though, we see this tradition as being a somewhat harmless practice that in no way takes away from our Tradition (upper case intended). The Church has always co-opted pagan rituals to help spread the Gospel message.
