Beatrix doesn't kill Bill. He pretended to be killed, she pretended to kill him. Both are happy. Arguments? Ok. His name is not striked out at the end of the film unlike the names of others (except ?? opposite the Elle's name because she is blind but technically could survive). The position of Bill's body changes in comparison with one in the credits scene at the end. Beatrix nods negatively when "confirms" that Pei Mei taught her that combination with fingers. Beatrix somehow tells "Thank you" at the end that can be interpreted as thankfulness to Bill that he leaves her pretending to be killed. So... She didn't kill anyone in the second part of the film!
For what it is worth, Bud looked Beatrice in the eye when he shot her, and they both were trying to surprise the other. Bud, on the other hand wasn't expecting a fight but a trade when he was killed by Elle. Pai Mai was killed eating dinner. In both cases, Elle was arguably the real dishonorable party , and so her fate was well deserved with Kiddo acting as Pai Mai's hand to take her other eye.
Not to mention Elle was more than willing to kill Beatrix in the hospital while she was in a coma and got pretty mad when Bill abandoned that plan. Elle Driver deserved a dirty outcome for her.
@@krautgazer Yeah, I thought she was a hypocritical bitch (and unfair to Bud) when she killed him like that. He deserved better. Of all Bill's Assassins I liked him best as a person and sadly, I think the venom caused him pain which we didn't see much of only because so much venom made it impossible for him to move or scream. Anyway, I thought she was hypocritical for the reason you just posted - well, actually more. There's nothing particularly 'honorable' about attacking a pregnant bride on her wedding day, killing other innocents at the wedding, or being willing to kill a person laying helpless and unconscious in a hospital bed. I guess Justice for Bud was for actually caring for his brother (and keeping that sword) because his sword made the fight between Elle and Kiddo even (she would have been disadvantaged with no sword or just a 'normal' sword instead of a Hanzo blade) and helped her to get the chance to take Elle's other eye.
I like how the writing kept her "end" innthe open. I like to imagine she lived. But as she was not "honorable" (disciplined) enough to training martial arts, her being alive but blind is more of a punish than dying. (As she would never be one of those "blind masters"). Or ... I could accept a vol.3 where Vernita Green's daughter would look for revenge on "the blonde killer of her mom", after being trained by "a blind master" (this is a full-stretch of my imagination. Kill Bill is basicly perfect at 2 volumes).
That's the way I see it, too. Bud's assassination tactics were that of an honest snake, but a snake nonetheless. They were all trained that way. To outplay another, each knowing the others intentions, is not dishonorable, albeit surprising at times. He was the Sidewinder. Elle's methods were notoriously dirty. The snake you never knew was venomous and was invited near, much like an LA fitness nut hiking in the hills outside their million dollar home, emboldened by the promise of safety by their wealth and "networking skills", you'd never think to die alone in your bath hours after an inconspicuous nip on the heel by what could have been a particularly sharp, misplaced twig. But you'd be wrong. Hence, the California Mountain Snake.
I love that she doesn't kill Elle. She killed pei-mei and didn't deserve to die with respect and a fair fight, so she taught her the same lesson pei-mei did. Brilliant
You can count on 0 fingers all the kills she did in part 2 with the sword, and you didn't even notice. Masterful writing. She broke his heart twice. Once literally.
Take note, Hollywood: THIS is an example of how to write a strong female protagonist! Also, Beatrix snatching out Elle's eye was Pei Mei's revenge from beyond the grave 😂
Eyy! Well said! She is a fantastic character. Brought lots of sass and personality with her and it delivered a compelling story. They did amazing. Pei Mei was avenged brutally. That sequence was fantastic 😂
The piano player was Samuel L Jackson. Also, I always interpretted Bill's motivation for having BB there when Beatrix shows up to confront him as a tactic to disarm her long enough that they can actually have the conversation. He knew she was coming from him and could have set up a trap designed to kill her, but he wouldn't get to talk to her and get the answers he needed. I also think he knew, deep down, that there was no way it was not going to come to a fight, and wanted her to have this one good night with her daugher, knowing that she (Beatrix) might actually die once they fought.
Elle is California Mountain ... O-Ren Ishii is Cottonmouth ... Vernita is Copperhead ... Budd is Sidewinder & Beatrix is Black Mamba. All are snakes. When Bill drives out to warn Bud. The car Bill is driving is a Lamborghini Mangusta. The word "Mangusta" is Italian for "Mongoose", one of the few animals that kills: snakes.
I saw this movie the weekend it came out in the theater by my collage. In the scene where The Bride is buried alive, the entire theater was pitch black with only the overwhelming sound of her breathing and the dirt hitting the coffin - it was so intense.
So something interesting to note. Tarantino had the chance to make Kill Bill Vol 3 and 4. Apparently it was going to be about Elle coming back for revenge as a blind samurai with Nikki as her apprentice. Beatrix was going to die and her daughter was going to have to train to get her revenge. Tarantino was even going to wait until the original child actresses grew up so they could re-audition for the parts. HOWEVER, after the years went on, Tarantino realized that this is one of the best endings to a revenge plot, it's happy and Beatrix gets to live the rest of her life as a mom with her kid. So he decided against the idea and went on to make other films.
Tarantino has opted to try for Kill Bill 2 and written some ideas, but never all of this. These are all internet rumors and fan wishes. Also why would Tarantino ever bother to make a movie with so many details out there? It wouldn’t merit his time making it. It would be extremely foolish to try to make a 3rd film 20 years removed because the level of hype and fan lore would never live up to it.
Beatrix didnt with hold being taught the 5 point exploding heart technique because she didnt trust Bill but because she loved him. She didnt want to hurt his feelings that Pai Mei wouldnt teach him but would teach her.
Plucking out the eye will be the most ultimate move ever. Blinding the enemy and simultaneously paying the highest tribute to the person who taught you that exact move and was killed by that same enemy. Direction, screenplay, cinematography, sound, all perfect in their own way. Acting, nothing short of brilliant. Definitely not shy to call Kill Bill 1 + 2 a collective masterpiece.
The poetry and karma was so satisfying! These 2 films are outstanding! Every single department in the filmmaking of this is genius. Thank you so much for watching this with us it means the world to us ❤️
One thing I especially enjoyed about this sequel was how once the audience saw Beatrix's history with Pai Mei you begin to understand how he not only saved her life but how the influence of his training was evident even in the first film when Kiddo was snatching out eyes from the members of the Crazy 88 for instance. It becomes very clear that Pai Mei and Beatrix's character had a rather special relationship between master and apprentice because he held nothing back with her training; even though according to Bill, Pai Mei totally despised American woman.
In Volume 1, we see the Bride perform feats of strength and skill that seem straight up impossible. So it's really cool to see her as a younger woman, encountering that power for the first time and being utterly flabbergasted by it. A dude can't just jump up and stand on your sword, but there he is.
I love how he gives her his rice after he throws hers on the floor... It shows his true self.... He's an incredible warrior and the ultimate badass but that gesture shows his loving side... Amazing
One of my all time favorite Tarantino films, so well written and executed and I love the stark contrast between the cyberpunk aesthetic from the Tokyo Underworld from the first film to the Cowboy Tootin vibes in the deserts of El Paso. Also, Pai Mei is the GOAT.
Pai Mei was played by Gordon Liu who also played Johnnie Mo leader of the Crazy 88's (bald head, black mask) in Part 1. Rufus the Piano player was played by Samuel L. Jackson. You left out my favorite scene in Part 2 where Bill talks about why Superman is diffferent from all the other Super Heroes.
@@chorizosandwich Because a LOT of reviewers don't listen to it. One even said blah blah get on with it. When Beatrix says, "Ah the point emerges" it hit me right then the first time. Bill was right. She wouldn't be a worker bee. She would always be killer bee, though I would love to see some street punk try to rob the place.
Budd is the only character that actually showed remorse at what he did to Beatrix, and I think that explains why he works such a terrible job. It's sort of a form of penitence for his actions. For him, undergoing constant abuse by his coworkers is a form of therapy to atone for all the terrible shit he's done.
Yeah, this is absolutely an archtype: the penitent killer. Who suffers to atone or promises never to take another life. It may even have been what they did to Beatrice that was the final straw for him. And so when she was done and buried in a more honorable way, her could leave it all behind--hence the million dollars to get out of dodge.
Absolutely. He's the most likeable of the assassins to me - he shows self awareness and remorse. And I love the not-really-explained backstory of a falling-out between him and Bill, where he would deny having the sword anymore, presumably to spite him, and act like he's completely gone to seed, yet actually keep the sword and stay sharp enough to be the one person who successfully defended himself against the Bride when she came for him. And, despite that falling out, to still love his brother enough to "punish" the Bride as he did (as wrongheaded as that is).
Plus, I have no problem with him "cowardly" shooting her as he did. First of all, she was attempting to ambush him at home in the middle of the night - a counter-ambush is no less cowardly. Second, I do believe him not having kept up with his sword training. No pretentious samurai swordfight would've been a fair fight; knowingly challenging someone with lesser skill is the most false kind of honor. Their fight had to be on terms other than martial arts or swordplay, because he was the only one of the squad with enough honor to deliberately set those things aside at some point after the massacre.
There's a blink and you'll miss it moment where she is leaving the camper and the Black Mamba snake (her code name), actually backs away from her acknowledging how deadly she is.
It isn’t “blink and you’ll miss it” at all. Most snakes don’t immediately attack unless they’re hunting. The imagery of two killers respecting each other is still there though.
I loved Bill's character. I understand you finding him repulsive I guess, but I find him to be a great subversion of expectations. His explanations of events and metaphors for Beatrice are just the right level of profound. I found myself unexpectedly saddened by his death. Just like Beatrice. Expectations successfully subverted .
Agreed. Most people don't appreciate it but Bill is one of the best movie villains ever: Formidable, Powerful, Influential and with quite reasonable motivations.
Agree. I think one of the reasons of why Bill is a great villian is that he was saying the truth all along. He wasnt that typical villanous man that goes "you're a killer. But me? I'm a good guy". No. He knows the kind of person he is, admits the piece of shit he is, and still raised B.B as a father without hatred. That right there is a well written villian. But people won't give credit to it.
@@joseantoniogarcia1677 Exactly!. Another thing people don't realize is that this movie doesn't actually have a "good guy" The viewer roots for Bellatrix because of the innate sympathy of the revenge plot. But in actuality there are no good people in this movie.
I agree, he's basically as charismatic as you could get while being a sociopath with a penchant for sleeping with his employees and serious control and anger management issues. That sounds sarcastic but I mean it!
I'm sure someone has said it already but, Beatrix snatches Elle's eye out with the arm that Pei Mei claimed as his own. So in a way she was his instrument of vengeance.
While most people associate Quentin for his VIOLENCE, it's his films' DIALOG that makes him stand out from the rest. I could re-watch the last 15 minutes of this film 100 more times. To me, part 2 is a much better film overall than part 1. Thanks for a great reaction.
Oh definitely - after Elle admitted that, it became more personal. She didn't even finish her off, but robbed her of her sight completely and left her to the snake!
Her crying and laughing on the bathroom floor is a combination of relief, gratitude, and grief. They may have had a toxic love but they did love each other. Bill is an incredible character, try watching it again without the bias and see who he actually is.
The scene in the end with the Bride in the bathroom? I read the scene like this: Bill had to die, there was no way around that, but she still loved him and she could never thank him enough for saving er daughter. But he had to die for their daughter to have a chance for life of her own. So she cries out of sadness and laughs out of happiness at the same time.
One cool nugget…She actually got revenge against everyone on her list, including Budd as he was killed by a Black Mamba, which happened to be her code name. Great reaction!
I can understand why he trusted her. They're on the same team. He's Bill's brother. She took him taking the coward's way out (no duel) personally, and kind of went rogue. She even had to lie to Bill about what happened because Bill would have been pissed.
28:04 Huge respect towards Kiddo! She admire Bill so much, but when she found out she was pregnant, she knew she needed to take full responsibility! 🙏🏽💪
Bill’s “father figure” was played by Michael Parks who was also the sheriff in Volume 1. Pai Mei was played by Gordon Liu who was also O-Ren’s primary assassin. One more, B.B. (Perla Haney-Jardine) was also the girl selling acid cigarettes in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The Bride told Bill just before he shot her that it was his baby. Of course he decided to then keep her alive and save the baby, he's the baby's father. Evil dude, but it looks like he did raise BB to the best of his twisted abilities. If you count the steps correctly, Bill actually managed to take a 6th step before collapsing, because despite his age he was a real badass... :) BTW, the ring Bill was wearing in this movie was the same as the ring on the hand of the guy who was with the yakuza boss that killed O-Ren Ishii's parents during the anime section of the first movie. It was Bill that shot the liquor bottle and kicked the burning butt to set the fire...
@@OfficialMediaKnights The crazy thing about Samual L Jackson is that he was a Cheerleader in college! He joined as a way to travel with the sports teams and meet girls. It worked. He met his wife that way.
The first kill Bill was so crazy but so unique and artistically incredible that I did not believe it was possible I was going to like the second one even better. I was very wrong. They went in a different direction more focused on story and less on action, but it was so beautifully created. A masterpiece
I’ve always been super curious about happened after the wedding massacre where the deadly viper assassin squad apparently split up. Vernita is living her suburban life, O-Ren is a yakuza boss with Sophie, Bud is a bouncer. Elle is the only one who still seems to be in regular contact with Bill. Like, what happened? Did bill end it so he could raise BB? But why was Bud angry with him? Was there some big falling out?
Oh. My. Goodness. That moment SHOCKED us because whilst it made sense, we didn't think they would go there haha. But alas, it is Tarantino, so we shoulda known better 😂
The differing facets of this series not only enhanced each other, but stood in stark contrast to each other. Each on its own were Oscar worthy (the cinematography, dialogue, pacing, story, acting, etc...) but together draw you in and keep you mesmerized throughout. Even the slow points were perfectly spaced to give you a chance to reset before the next big sequence. Thank you for watching these, I always look forward to your reactions.
Can’t agree more! Both vol 1 and 2 compliment each other perfectly. But the tone does change a bit. Crazy to think this is actually one big film because it really does feel like 1 and 2 were filmed to be shown as a part 1 and part 2 initially. Thank you so much for watching with us! This was a great movie to share with you guys 😄
U CAN ALSO SEE DURING HER CONVERSATION WIT BILL WHY SHE HAD TO LEAVE HIM. BILL WAS ALREADY GETING THE DAUGHTER READY FOR HIS WORLD BY DESENSITIZING HER TO DEATH; BE IT ABOUT THE FISH OR LETTING HER WATCH ONE OF THE MOS VIOLENT MOVIES EVER MADE.THAT IS WHAT MAKES QUENTIN A GENIUS.
Great reaction vid guys! I’ve seen them both tons of times, but it’s been a few years….And it was awesome watching them both again with you. Thank you!
Interesting point about the Deadly Viper Assassin Squad. All the “snakes”, cottonmouth, sidewinder, black mamba, copperhead, are all venomous… except California Mountain Snake. However, the CMS is a king snake which looks remarkable like the venomous coral snake. They are known to prey upon other snakes, even venomous ones. So, it makes perfect sense for the treacherous Elle to be CMS as she double crosses and betrays members of her own squad. Plus, king snakes are constrictors, they kill by suffocating and crushing their prey. The symbology is really good.
Strangely enough, that was actually my LEAST favorite scene in either movie. I understand that Tarentino was going for the over-the-top crazy aesthetic of classic kung fu films, but that style just leaves me bored. It's SO over the top that Beatrix becomes a super-human, and there is no tension to the scene if you realize that she can't possibly lose. Not just with THIS movie, but many others that fall into that realm.
''there's consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard" XD but Kiddo's not some awesome justified angel neither though, she's just as much a killer as bill. not telling him about his own child, running away pretending to be dead, was not the way to go about things. y'all forget she chose a live as an assassin and probably killed a 100 some people before starting her revenge mission. then all of a sudden bailing with his kid, what makes her better than bill at that point? nobody knows what he would've said in that situation. and all said and done, he turns out to be a decent father too, remember Kiddo first thought she lost the baby, so it's not a facade to prove her a point if and when she would snap out of a coma. But then Bill messed up and being the killer he is, it turned into a massacre even his own brother came to hate him for. 😂almost forget the complexity of the characters is great too, just bc the great fight scenes. loved the respect among the assassins tho, and how Kiddo looks at bill. Uma was crazy for the fight scenes (as the rest too) . one of my favourites of Tarantino 💯
Hey guys 👋 So glad u watched this. Tarantino said he only has one movie left to make, so I'm waiting patiently for his last masterpiece. Totally down for Pulp Fiction whenever ur ready ❤️
Hey PipHead! Always nice to see you around! Thank you for watching with us. Tarantino’s last movie is something we’re both curious about. Excited to see what he does with it. Funny enough his last film Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood didn’t really click with me the first time I watched it. I don’t know why but the experience at the theater wasn’t really memorable for me. But after I watched it a second time (I tend to always give films a second chance in case) I actually enjoyed it quite a lot! Appreciated the genius behind certain sequences. Pulp Fiction will come soon!
@@OfficialMediaKnights yea I agree, at first I didn't think much of once upon a time, but the acting is just so good in it, even if the story was a bit surreal. U just appreciate it for what it is. U ever thinking of doing any British or Irish movies? There are some truly amazing works of art from this side of the world 😀
@@OfficialMediaKnightsthx guys, the best Irish movies would be: The Commitments (1991) In The Name of The Father (1993) The Snapper (1993) My Left Foot (1990) The General (1998) The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) Hunger (2008) The Van (1996) Bloody Sunday (2002) The Wind That Shakes The Barley (2006). I know most of them are old, but they're absolute classics! I'll get back to u with the best British movies ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights Best British films I'd recommend: Dead Man's Shoes (2004) This Is England (2006) Trainspotting (1996) The King's Speech (2010) Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998) Snatch (2000) The Full Monty (1997) The Descent (2005) 28 Days Later (2002) Shallow Grave (1994) Billy Elliot (2000) Shaun of the Dead (2004) In Bruges (2008) We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) Sexy Beast (2000) Neds (2010) A huge list! but I've watched these so many times 🤣🤣
I like the whole burial aspect. She's so hell bent on revenge she messes up and makes the ancient quote of Confucius come alive "If you seek revenge, dig two graves".
Late to the viewing party… I want to compliment you. You are the first to use your intelligence and intellect; you get it. You see it. You connect it. You appreciate it. I am glad I found you. Most reaction channels don’t level. At all. So thank you! P.s. I saw these films when they came out - I was 28 and in awe. Again: thank you for reliving this with me!
Notice that eye patch was the only one named after a non venomous snake. As you said her method isn't honorable. She poisoned everyone. She was gonna unalive Uma in her sleep, she had snakes off Budd and poisoned Pai Mei. She didn't actually attempt an honorable unaliving of anyone. So, therefore she doesn't get the title of a genuine venomous snake. She's more of an ambush type, I think ambush is the word I'm looking for.... Eff it, you know what I'm trying say and that's all that matters 😂✌️
My take on Bud is that he was never cut out for the assassin life. He was more or less just following in big bro Bill's footsteps, who was trying to groom Bud for the life but was obviously unsuccessful. If Bill hadn't been helping/pushing Bud, then Bud would never have been in that chapel. There's a lot of resentment towards Bill in Bud's character, but it's blended with love and respect too.
The stylistic choice of filming "carried" over because it was originally just one movie all shot together but ended up to long to release so QT split it into two Volumes (not part 1&2 since that would be two individual plots). 😊
The wave of euphoria from the serum kicked in late when she was laughing, crying with joy on the bathroom floor thanking Bill for helping her deal with the trauma like he foresaw.
Yes!!! That makes sense - combined with the elation she would naturally feel from finally being free and with her daughter, it must have been quite overwhelming!! Such a great acting moment for Uma as well!
The guy playing Pai Mei was also the leader of The Crazy Eighty Eight. Chia-Hui Liu is his name. The Michael Parks played the sheriff in Kill Bill 1 and he also played Esteban Vihaio in Kill Bill 2. I believe y'all had a lot of fun watching these. Y'all be safe.
The Superman monologue is still one of my all-time favorites in cinema history! Thank you again for reacting to this Q.T. series, reiterating that this is my favorite films of his. BTW, your channel and James vs Cinema are by far my favorite reaction channels, thank you so much for all of the work that you put in.
i’m not gonna lie. i watch a lot of reaction videos. you guys are my favorite. i usually skip past some youtubers while they talk but i follow through with u guys and watch every second. keep it up and i hope you guys get big. love ur energies
Now, beatrix and BB had a bigger problem: Elle driver (if she survived) and Vernita's daughter, Nikki (if she seeks for revenge and get trained for Elle in her assassin skills and pai mei's). That if beatrix doesnt train BB to become more powerful than her.
Howdy again! Coming here from Kill Bill (1). At the end of this reaction you asked about a favorite scene. I brought that back to my reply in KB 1 and will continue it here. Just as Hattori Hanzo, a former teacher of Bill, was instrumental in her plan,in KB 1, so in KB 2 was Pai Mei, another Asian master under whom Bill had studied, instrumental in Kiddo succeeding in her plan. A classic example that one reaps what one sows. As always a fantastic reaction.
Thanks so much for continuing it on this one, love hearing from you! The writing of this movie is truly so smart and well crafted, you see how every moment and every character is instrumental in moving the story forward! Thanks sooo much for your support, it truly means the world to us!
This may have been mentioned before but David Carradine (Bill) was the star of the TV series KUNG FU backk in te day. He was trained in Martial Arts by Bruce Lee, wo alsoo created that series, but who wasn't allowd to star in it because Network Executives at ABC didn;t think an Asian actor could Get good atings. After Bruce Lee's death and long after the series had ended David made KUNG FU into a TV movie and cast Brandon Lee (The Crow) as his son, It was Brandon's first big acting job,
pai mei's mastery of his own Qi is so great that he is able to retract his balls into his body so that nutshots are rendered ineffective. It might seem like I'm joking but Pai Mei has performed the feat in multiple movies, including this one.
Bill is wrong in his methods, but he was genuinely betrayed, and loyalty is _the_ most important thing to a man, and that goes doubly so for a warrior. I can't condone his actions, but I genuinely understand his reasons.
Men just like to say stupid sh!t. He was a KILLER. Beatrix didn't wanted her daughter near him. The bride was not his property, you know? What do you wanted her to do? Break up with him? People have the right to leave you without you trying to kill them.

If you remember Kill Bill vol. 1's animation, the man dressed in white who kill's O'Ren Ishii's father and sets the room on fire is Bill. Ironically, she died for obeying a man she would have killed from the beginning.
31:57 I'm a shallow person, my favourite scene is Bride snatching Elle's eye out. 😅🤷🏼 And while I'm here I just wanted to say I'm new to the channel but I like you gyus already. You're both just lovely. 😊 And I like that in your reactions you combine a proffesional point of view of filmmaking with a sheer joy of being just film lovers.
after Beatrix punched the wall and broke her hand, she was going to eat the rice with her broken fingers, Pei Mai threw her rice on the floor but slid his rice to her, giving up his portion. I knew then they had a special relationship. would of loved a separate movie about her training. it would of been epic
Ahh! Good catch! Unfortunately yes…we have watched Squid Game and thought it was fantastic! We might share our thoughts on that one at some point when we start delving into video essays. Thank you for the suggestion! That’s some good taste right there 👌
Kill Bill or Inglorious Basterds..so many years later and i still cant decide wich one is my fav Tarantino film.. both are brilliant in their own way..
I absolutely love your reaction to the eye plucking scene. Because I can see the point where you think. “Oh, she did something really bad to her” And then we see the realization. “Oh, she did that.”
1:22 - Some people say that Rufus the piano player played by Samuel Jackson is in fact Jules from Pulp Fiction and this is where his character ended up after the events of that movie.
Cool channel, cool reaction! Glad you both appreciated the campiness and the cheesiness of these flix. A great blend of cult cinema, exploitation movies, spaghetti westerns, and 70's kung fu movies. The character of Pei Mei was a recurring villian in many kung fu films back in the day. Gordon Liu (the actor who played Pei Mei in Kill Bill) played the protagonist in many of those old films and was constantly battling the evil Pei Mei, in which Tarantino adds some comedic irony to the casting. Btw, if you're doing all things Tarantino...don't forget the double feature, Planet Terror and Death Proof. These movies don't get alot of reactions but are VERY underrated movies. Typical Tarantino... lots of cartoon-like violence, horror, comedy and over the top gore and carnage.
Thank you for watching with us and for your suggestions. We do like to delve into more obscure/underrated films from time to time so we’ll definitely add these to our list! 😃
Can't wait to watch it with you both, it'll be fun!! It includes a few faux trailers by some fellow colleague directors that are absolutely HILARIOUS!!!
Planet Terror was Robert Rodriguez. I found both of them to be a let down, but especially Planet Terror. Death Proof was okay but definitely a little more of a "Quentin has some fun" vibe than trying to make a piece of art like most of his films feel like.
Bud had the shotgun shells filled with Rock Salt instead of Buck Shot (steel BBs). Painful but not lethal. Pai Mei is played by Martial Arts Legend Gordon Liu. He also played the leader of the Crazy 88's, General Johnny Mo (Bald Head and Kato Mask). Another Actor who played 2 roles was Michael Parks who played the Texas Ranger with all the sunglasses in his Patrol Car in Part 1 and the Pimp Estaban in Part 2. When Beatrix tried to hit Pai Mei with a rock he threatened to chop off her arm. He lets her keep her arm but says that it belongs to him now. So during the fight between Beatrix and Elle, Pai Mei's arm snatched Elle's eye. I love Bill's Superman speech during the truth serum session.
Pai Mei doesn’t trust just anybody to be his student, and yet Beatrix Kiddo of all people earned his trust through and through and learned his coveted move to use against her enemy.
@@tararocksong5085 And I don't think it was just about her obedience. They make a point to show him respecting her perseverance under his cruel tutelage - and these films are really ALL ABOUT her being the absolute Determinator. I think he saw some deep drive and honor in her that even most of his other successful students had never matched.
I always felt Budd was in a self-imposed exile of sorts. After what he did to Beatrix, he lost all taste for "the life" and gave up all of his money. You'll note that when he lied and said he sold the Hanzo sword, he did so in El Paso, the location of the massacre. He's a right piece of shit, but I think he had the most regret of all of them over what he did.
@@fighterx9840 I liked that each of them showed a different reaction to the fate of the Squad. Vernita retired for the suburban life - probably very similar to the life Beatrix was trying to have before that life was murdered, almost like she stole it. Budd retired to a humble, working man's life, perhaps in penitence and protest. O'Ren left the squad and struck out to lead her own criminal organization. And Elle stayed, using Beatrix's absence to climb the ladder to Bill's affections and role as main assassin.
A lot of people asking for Superman monologue here, but the bit I miss from this edit is the end of the convo with Esteban. The stuff with his "girls" is kinda gross, but I LOVE the way it starts with the Bride being friendly but growing more and more impatient, but leaving with a claim she didn't expect ("He would want me to tell you" "Now that I don't believe" "How else is he ever going to see you again?"). The idea that these two psychos really did love each other - or at least that Bill loved her - is key for the ending sequence. Plus it's just a great line delivery :) Also the steely tone that emerges later in the convo reminds me of how the Hanzo scene started fun but led to "I didn't say SELL me, I said GIVE me."
Love that Kiddo took her other eye out then left her in the trailer with the black mamba it’s symbolic for finishing her off as her original name sake “the black mamba”
You are so close to 100,000 Subscribers. Good luck. i can't wait to see you unbox that silver play button. what is that other girl grows up and comes after Beatrix kiddo? But Bebe stops her at the end of the movie? that would be really interesting. i would pay to see that..
Imagine the poor therapist left alone with Bill, Budd and the four deadly Vipers, trying to navigate through their issues without triggering anything that would put them in a killing mood. Therapist: "So, Miss Ishii, would you like to talk about your heritage or childhood?" O'Ren: "I've killed the last man who brought up my ancestry" Therapist: "Oh! Ok... Let's... Umm... Miss Driver, then, what is the story behind the eyepatch?"
I kinda get Bill... I mean you run away with MY CHILD without telling me shit? I TOTALLY get her and shes righr but I also get him even if hes a psycho lol I really liked the writing she KNEW what she got her into and she loved him I think exactly for that. Scary but honest

Beatrix not Beatrice
Brilliant
And another great thing i heard in some other video is that in some way, this was also payback by Pai Mei,since she did it with "his" hand.
And left her with her angry black mamba in RV.
You can count on 0 fingers all the kills she did in part 2 with the sword, and you didn't even notice. Masterful writing. She broke his heart twice. Once literally.
I need to learn the exploding heart technique. Could be useful 🤔😛
Beatrix Kiddo did kill Bill
father of her child
but not without reason
She really only killed Bill in this movie. The Black Mamba killed Budd and she only plucked out Elle's eye.
Dude she didn’t kill anyone with the sword I never noticed that 😮 wild
Take note, Hollywood: THIS is an example of how to write a strong female protagonist!
Also, Beatrix snatching out Elle's eye was Pei Mei's revenge from beyond the grave 😂
Eyy! Well said! She is a fantastic character. Brought lots of sass and personality with her and it delivered a compelling story. They did amazing. Pei Mei was avenged brutally. That sequence was fantastic 😂
It was absolutely Pei Mei's revenge. She plucked that eye out with her right arm.... that was Pei Mei's arm... he made it strong.
Amen! 🙏🏽💪👏
Exactly right. This is my notion of a chick flick.
@@KS-xk2so He clearly stated. - This arm belongs to me.
Just realized that her laying on the floor crying and laughing at the end is the euphoria caused by the truth serum
Wasn't Bill's code name Snake Charmer or Snake Handler?
@@rowenatulley852 Snake Charmer - You are correct.
ive always loved Elle's code name! California Mountain Snake has such a nice ring to it!
@@blehlee6745 And it isn't poisonous! The only one. Can't be an oversight.
I saw this movie the weekend it came out in the theater by my collage. In the scene where The Bride is buried alive, the entire theater was pitch black with only the overwhelming sound of her breathing and the dirt hitting the coffin - it was so intense.
Ohhhh hell, definitely can imagine!! That must have been so chilling, it was honestly so intense watching it as is!
Same... but it was the sound of the nails in the coffin for me.
Cinema at it's finest. Cerebral.
What was the collage called? I’m sure they’re proud😂
Yes!
Thank goodnesss
I'm glad because that plot sounds ridiculous even on page
Tarantino has opted to try for Kill Bill 2 and written some ideas, but never all of this. These are all internet rumors and fan wishes. Also why would Tarantino ever bother to make a movie with so many details out there? It wouldn’t merit his time making it. It would be extremely foolish to try to make a 3rd film 20 years removed because the level of hype and fan lore would never live up to it.
Great reaction! "Bitch, you don't have a future." remains one of my favorite lines in cinema, just so goddamn cold blooded, I adore it.
Ugh! Her line delivery was absolutely badass! And what came next was simply 😘👌
That would be a cool t-shirt 😂
Thank you so much for watching this with us it means the world to us ❤️
It was Pai-Mei getting his revenge. She plucked out the eye with the arem Pai-Mei claimed was his....
Yes.
Well it wouldn't have been a proper tribute to the genre without the whole "You killed my master" angle.
Right, Pai Mei been around and in everything since forever man.
Michael Parks played the sheriff and the Mexican pimp.
Yes the Superman monolog was so good. I had never contemplated his point that Clark Kent being his disguise means Suoerman sees humans humans as weak
The Superman monologue is definitely the best thing out of the these 2 incredible movies
O-Ren also showed remorse
O-Ren not only showed remorse, but she actually and honestly apologized to Beatrix. Way more honorable than what Budd did
There's a blink and you'll miss it moment where she is leaving the camper and the Black Mamba snake (her code name), actually backs away from her acknowledging how deadly she is.
Game recognizes game.
You will be surprised, but he isn't dead.
Rewatch end credits.
So in a way she was his instrument of vengeance.
fun fact: the scene where elle had a meltdown when she got her eye snatched out by beatrix was improvised. she wanted to make quentin laugh and he did
Also, it seems to be an homage to a scene she did on Blade Runner. I just watched the "final cut" version of that film.
@@hecman888 you are correct.
While most people associate Quentin for his VIOLENCE, it's his films' DIALOG that makes him stand out from the rest. I could re-watch the last 15 minutes of this film 100 more times. To me, part 2 is a much better film overall than part 1. Thanks for a great reaction.
The last scene with Bill was so satisfying. I was really worried they were going to leave us hanging.
Right?!? We thought it was just going to leave an open ending or something. This ending was truly incredible!
@@OfficialMediaKnights nooo google the way David Carradine died and you’ll understand how messed up but funny this comment is
Jesus man why 😂
@@joshm.1483 Jesus, I've heard dozens of jokes about his death, but somehow I still didn't catch this one! 😄
The way I see it, the only reason Beatrix killed Elle the way she did is because Elle admitted killing the Master.
Oh definitely - after Elle admitted that, it became more personal. She didn't even finish her off, but robbed her of her sight completely and left her to the snake!
When Uma snatched her eye, I burst out laughing in the theater and thoroughly embarrassed my wife.
Hahaha I mean it is definitely dark humor, so we feel ya!
No way! That was her!? Wow!
"How do I look?"
"You look ready."
Still one my favorite lines from any film
"You look ready" in the right context delivered the right way can be really powerful. Understated. Great line in this film and in _Dredd._
BTW, the ring Bill was wearing in this movie was the same as the ring on the hand of the guy who was with the yakuza boss that killed O-Ren Ishii's parents during the anime section of the first movie. It was Bill that shot the liquor bottle and kicked the burning butt to set the fire...
This was a cool watch-along with you both, thanks for that.
Great job on the editing.

@@OfficialMediaKnights The crazy thing about Samual L Jackson is that he was a Cheerleader in college! He joined as a way to travel with the sports teams and meet girls. It worked. He met his wife that way.

Was there some big falling out?
agreed. there's so much more, this could have been a tv series
Bill's heart was broken, he didn't want to do it anymore. Without Bill leading, the rest split up.
He was angry at Bill because of the massacre in El Paso; it offended his code of honor. (All of the Vipers HAD a certain code, even Elle Driver!)
I'm not a Tarantino fan anyway. But Kill Bill 1+2 are really awesome. Screenplay, camera, direction...etc. Hats off to Quentin.
Great reactions.
I saw this in the theater, and you could hear the entire audience react the same way you did when Elle got her eye plucked out.
Oh. My.
I think Uma’s performance in the showdown with O-Ren was phenomenal.
My favorite moment overall was the fight scene at the club in the first movie. That was so over the top and fun.
Ah! That was an absolute roller coaster 😃

Hey PipHead! Always nice to see you around! Thank you for watching with us. Tarantino’s last movie is something we’re both curious about. Excited to see what he does with it.
Haha whooaaa that makes so much sense though!! We definitely got your point, such a cool breakdown, thanks for sharing!
she broke bill's heart twice

The hand Beatrix used to snatch out Elle's eye "belongs" to Pei Mei, so effectively, he got his revenge by completely blinding and dooming her.
i’m not gonna lie. i watch a lot of reaction videos. you guys are my favorite. i usually skip past some youtubers while they talk but i follow through with u guys and watch every second. keep it up and i hope you guys get big. love ur energies
Awwww this comment made our day!!! Thank you so much, what a compliment! We are so glad to have you here, and that you enjoyed our reaction!
Now, beatrix and BB had a bigger problem: Elle driver (if she survived) and Vernita's daughter, Nikki (if she seeks for revenge and get trained for Elle in her assassin skills and pai mei's). That if beatrix doesnt train BB to become more powerful than her.
Little fun fact. The sword Butch uses in Pulp Fiction is the sword hocked by Vincent Vega's bro in this film.
The crying at the end was the side effects of the truth serum #euphoria
Ahh! Nice one! That explains it
@@OfficialMediaKnights I do think it’s a combination of euphoria and relief as well
Howdy again!
El Paso makes a cameo in
“No Country For Old Men”
This may have been mentioned before but David Carradine (Bill) was the star of the TV series KUNG FU backk in te day.
Men just like to say whatever. He was a KILLER. Beatrix didn't wanted her daughter near him. People have the right to leave you without you trying to kill them. He only did the massacre for petty reasons, which are not understandable except if you are a phsyco
@@Square-ow7oq There are forms to be observed with a break-up. You do not just start cheating behind your partner's back just because reasons. That's a great way to make them really angry. I guess you feel fine angering the super-A-class assassin? In other news, hey everybody, guess what, found the bot!
@BinkyTheToaster when did the bride cheat on him? That never happened. Just because you can't keep a girl doesn't mean you can be such a ashole. "Loyality is the most important thing to a man"? You sound like andrew tate lmao you really are not joking. You really think it is justifed to kill a woman just because she left you. 😂 sociopath
@@Square-ow7oqhow stupid comment you want to write ? Answer :- Yes
I mean seriously that's the explanation you got? She was living in a world where God knows how many people she killed and then you try to turn your back to your boss expecting them to understand that you got some right? As if they care about right, people like them have their own rule about what they do, I am not saying what happened to Beatrix was right just you cannot expect a peace in this situation so next time maybe you wanna use some sense before barking
Ari's "These people don't believe in open communication" sent me. 😂😂😂
They need a healthy outlet! 😂
And while I'm here I just wanted to say I'm new to the channel but I like you gyus already. You're both just lovely. 😊
And I like that in your reactions you combine a proffesional point of view of filmmaking with a sheer joy of being just film lovers.
the guy you met at the piano is Samuel Jackson i think he's the person who made the most movies he's in almost all of them.
Haha yeah, we eventually looked it up because we recognized the voice but couldn't place it, it was driving us nuts!!!
I love when people comment without actually watching the part of the video they're talking about.
after Beatrix punched the wall and broke her hand, she was going to eat the rice with her broken fingers, Pei Mai threw her rice on the floor but slid his rice to her, giving up his portion. I knew then they had a special relationship. would of loved a separate movie about her training. it would of been epic
If you remember. They showed you about the eye Plucking in the first movie. When she was fighting in the restaurant.
Have you done Sqiud Games?
Ahh! Good catch! Unfortunately yes…we have watched Squid Game and thought it was fantastic! We might share our thoughts on that one at some point when we start delving into video essays. Thank you for the suggestion! That’s some good taste right there 👌
Kill Bill or Inglorious Basterds..so many years later and i still cant decide wich one is my fav Tarantino film.. both are brilliant in their own way..
the beeeeaarrrrr Jew
I absolutely love your reaction to the eye plucking scene. Because I can see the point where you think. “Oh, she did something really bad to her” And then we see the realization. “Oh, she did that.”
13:40 "That's realistic!" because it is, Uma smashed her hands for the shot.
1:22 - Some people say that Rufus the piano player played by Samuel Jackson is in fact Jules from Pulp Fiction and this is where his character ended up after the events of that movie.
it's credited to SLJ on most websites
Great react again, guys 🔥
Oh, and BTW: I saw that you figured it out before he did (about how Beatrix was gonna punch her way out of the coffin) 🤟😎
I thought that was such a powerful reveal. It says a lot about Beatrix and her perseverance even when she was training!
She followed the rules to a tee. No sass and most of all, don’t talk back.
@@jerodast, but still Beatrix was determined and persevered through Pai Mei’s teachings, even if they’re cruel.
Bill killed Beatrix for breaking his heart.
Beatrix killed Bill *by* breaking his heart.
I agree, everyone else, specifically Vernita and O-Ren had moved on while Budd didn't. I'm not sure what Elle's deal was though
Plus it's just a great line delivery :) Also the steely tone that emerges later in the convo reminds me of how the Hanzo scene started fun but led to "I didn't say SELL me, I said GIVE me."
yes! to all of that.
Let’s go. I was just hoping to see this soon.
Love that Kiddo took her other eye out then left her in the trailer with the black mamba it’s symbolic for finishing her off as her original name sake “the black mamba”
Absolutely brutal!
I HIGHLY recommend Death Proof it's a classic
Great recommendation, you are not alone in recommending this!! Will definitely add this to our list, thank you!!
Therapist: "So, Miss Ishii, would you like to talk about your heritage or childhood?"
O'Ren: "I've killed the last man who brought up my ancestry"
Therapist: "Oh! Ok... Let's... Umm... Miss Driver, then, what is the story behind the eyepatch?"
Hahahhaa that poor therapist, talking to the Vipers would be like walking through a mine field 😂😂😂
I kinda get Bill... I mean you run away with MY CHILD without telling me shit? I TOTALLY get her and shes righr but I also get him even if hes a psycho lol
I really liked the writing she KNEW what she got her into and she loved him I think exactly for that. Scary but honest
17:01 it was at this moment that he knew he’s dead
“You’re my favorite person”
“That doesn’t mean much”
I’m dead 😂
This felt a lot more cutty than i remember you guys doing. Much preferred when we could see scenes play out.
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and for your feedback. It’s tough to find a balance in her can make both the audience and the YT copyright system happy at the same time! We had some issues with Vol 1 in terms of the copyright so we had to adjust for vol.2
Glad you enjoyed this film! One of my favorites! Great reactions!
another fun bit of trivia is that Uma's character name of Beatrix Kiddo is actually allowed revealed in the first movie, During the Okinawa to Tokyo montage freeze frame on her ticket and you'll see her name on it :P
Oh no way?! We totally missed that, thank you for pointing that out!!!
Also, with O Ren
