During the last chapter with Bill, Tarantino manages to make him genuinely likable without losing any of the desire to see her kill him. He's both a person who seems like someone you would enjoy shooting the shit with, and simultaneously someone who just needs to be shot. That's pretty impressive filmmaking.
Easter egg: The black suit that Elle wears when she meets Bud is the same one that Mia Wallace wore in "Pulp Fiction." Spoiler: It's not the last time that suit is worn in a Tarantino move...
I met Uma in Woodstock, NY. I told her how much I loved the Kill Bill movies. She thanked me and said that it was the toughest movie(s) she ever worked on. She was constants hurt and bruised (even with stunt woman Zoe' Bell doing the most dangerous scenes). A really nice woman. Even more beautiful in person. She is very tall.
This is interesting. She's 5'11" and John Travolta is only 3 inches taller. She seemed pretty petite next to him. I think Tarantino directed the way she moved and even had a slouch to make her seem shorter. Ok bedtime for me.
My wake up alarm on my phone is L’Arena, the music as the Bride punches and climbs her way out of Paula Schultz’s grave. I feel it takes a similar amount of effort to get myself up in the morning
Fun fact! Daryl Hannah was reading the notes she wrote down when she researched Black Mambas on the internet. And several years later her reading those notes lead her to be the narrator in a little documentary about Black Mambas.
That is the first time I have seen a comment about the Flute and David Carradine - I was beginning to think that I was the only one that had made the connection
A wish fulfillment and a piece of trivia. You wanted the Mythbusters to cover the coffin escape, they totally did! Kari, Grant, and Tory couldn’t replicate the breaking of the coffin lid from such a short punching distance, even with a superhuman punching robot, thus proving that Beatrix is beyond superhuman. Bill’s car, you can see it on the background while he’s trying to reason with Bud, is a rare Italian model made by the De Tomaso company. The car is called the Mangusta, Italian for mongoose… because mongooses can deal with snakes, which is what his assassin squad is named after.
Fun fact: The actress who plays Little BB, Beatrix´ daughter, did appear in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as the hippie girl who sold the acid cigarettes to Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Fun Fact: Paula Schultz is likely Dr. King Schultz´s wife in Tarantinoverse.
Saw this in the theater and hearing the dirt fall was intense. The entire theater was silent. But everyone collectively groaned at the stepping on the eyeball.
Absolute silence in my theatre too. It was sooooo uncomfortable. That sound mixing was the best. That scene was definitely made for the theatre, not a dvd.
You ever hear Zoe Bell talk about their first try with her on the hood? She says Tarantino came to her and asked "okay, what was wrong with that?" and she was baffled because she thought she nailed it, untll she realized her stunt instincts kicked in and she had hidden her face the entire time, negating the point of casting a stunt woman to do the role.
@@Battle_Beats He's hinting at Uma Thurman's accident on set. To this day, Thurman has health issues caused by an driving accident that should never have occurred, had the scene been set up properly by Tarantino and his crew.
EDIT: After a correction I have done some research and found this is just urban legend. I can't find any interviews with Tarantino where he says this, and the character name is Rufus in Kill Bill, not Jules, so I believe I was given bad info and just flat didn't do enough corroboration. Apologies to all. ORIGINAL POST: Fun fact: Tarantino confirmed in an interview that Samuel L Jackson's character at the wedding rehearsal is Jules from Pulp Fiction after he walked away from killing. His wandering led him to be the piano player at the wedding chapel.
This definitely isn't true. Tarantino has said that Kill Bill is a film within the universe of the more "realistic" movies like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, meaning Jules cannot be the piano player because he is a "real" person, and Kill Bill is just a movie.
@@philioteria21 You know what, you're absolutely right. Should have checked my sources first. I can't recall where I read that bit about the piano player being Jules, but I did some research after reading your reply and you're spot on. The character name is Rufus even. My apologies, and thanks for the correction.
Dude there's no way Jules would have let himself get smoked that easy. I have heard that rumor about Jules being the piano player. Never knew if it was true or not. Thanks for settling that for good
I love that after the events of the massacre the deadly vipers lived their lives on one emotion. O Ren lived in greed grabbing all the power she could. Bud lived in guilt taking a lousy job and having a miserable existence that he thought he deserved. Vernetta lived in envy having a life like the one the bride wanted but in ways seemed better. Ellie lived in pride where she wanted to kill the bride with honor and killed Bud when she thought he killed her.
@@nealabbott6520 Literally the scene before Pai Mei fucking front flipped and landed on her sword and she managed to keep him up there with one arm, I agree, it doesn't matter
After knowing Beatrix's name, it does change how you view some scenes in later views. Like earlier in the film when Bill calls her Kiddo. He's not using a nickname like you'd assume but is actually saying her name. Also back in the first film you have the "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids" line. It's O-Ren saying Beatrix's name but it keeps cutting to Beatrix adding the other lines to make you not realize it.
The pure darkness of the casket was a superb experience in the theater. And when she meets her girl for the first time.. what a heart-stopper. Excellent work.
I loved that 1 footshot in the chapel because it shows the stakes. Bill has solid shoes while the Bride is wearing Sandals while they walk towards each other. Always thought thats a neat way to show that she is way more vulnerable than him in that moment
I believe the entire point of Bill playing that wooden flute was meant to be an homage to David Carradine's early acting career where he played a buddhist monk in the TV series 'Kung Fu'. That character always carried a flute with him everywhere he went. There was a Mythbusters episode about being buried alive, and the myth was busted since the weight of the dirt on top of the coffin was enough to crush it (probably why one of the reasons modern caskets are placed inside cement vaults before being covered over).
fantastic reaction. I love that you read behind the scenes info afterwards! Really interesting stuff. Here are some other tidbits. "Bang Bang" the song sung at the beginning of Vol 1 is paid off by Beatrix getting "shot" by her "baby" cleverly named "B.B.". B.B. even SAYS "Bang Bang" before shooting Beatrix, echoing the song's line "Bang bang my baby shot me down." Also some theorize that Bill's last name is "Gun or Gunn", thus their daughter being named "B.B. Gunn", but im not sure if this is confirmed or not, and B.B.'s official name seems to be "B.B. Kiddo" Kiddo being another clever name, because it's what Bill constantly referred to her as in the first film. Also, her full name Beatrix Kiddo ties back to her fight with O-Ren, where O-Ren says "silly rabbit, TRIX are for KIDS" Tarantino loves his puns and call backs, thats for sure.
I'm so jealous of anyone watching this for the first time. Edit: Just want to point out that the editor is Sally Menke(spelling might be off) but she and Tarantino worked together through most his career until she Unfortunately passed away... Inglorious Bastards was the last film she edited. Tarantino always credited her on being a big part what makes his movies work. He has a story about how Pulp Fiction wouldn't be what it is without her. Just thought I'd mention.
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this.... When Elle opens the door to the trailer, and is met with Kiddo's feet flying at her, she gets kicked backward and hits a table. The stunt woman broke her back on that scene. The true movie heroes...
@@johnglue1744 Quentin talked about it on Armchair Expert podcast. I went and rewatched it after hearing about it. Brutal. Can't imagine taking that fall... with or without any kind of protective armor underneath.
*The great thing is, Nikkia Bell (Ambrosia Kelley) & B.B. Kiddo (Perla Haney-Jardine), the 2 young daughters in the movies, are now in their early-mid 20's. Old enuf to face off against each other in "Volume 3". But Quentin is still iffy to the idea. But look em up. They're gorgeous. And as much as I like Maya Hawke, Perla should stay the original B.B., and Maya could be written in as her sister. Name her, "Willamina/Wilhelmina" (Billy)* 😁

I suggested this movie before reading this comment. It really is a good film for watch in reference to Kill Bill, because it is so extremely stylised and dramatic. The Good, etc, is also great, but mostly more grounded than Once Upon A Time.
"The Hateful eight" should be you're next Tarantino film after this. It's... Basically the opposite of Kill Bill and a litle divisive amongst his fans.
It’s a small film, basically Reservoir Dogs but set in the post-Civil War West. I liked it, but it’s a pretty hard film to watch at times, even for a Tarantino film.
I would say it's his weakest movie. It has some good moments but it gets pretty disappointing near the end. Could have done more with the murder mystery. Django is great though, so is Inglorious Basterds which should both be viewed first either way maybe Reservoir dogs too.
13:48 LMAO @ “Miyagi’d” 😂🤣 It wouldn’t be a true kung-fu flick without a grandmaster! Pai Mei was brutal, but he helped Kiddo tap into her killer instinct.
I love the actress they cast to portray BB, she was also Sandman's daughter Penny in Spider-Man 3, only three years later! She was endearing and cute in both movies.
I’ve watched three of your reaction videos, and I’m hooked. I think you’re the smartest of the film reactors I’ve encountered. It’s a great medium, and you contribute so much with your experience and insight, making it your own to separate you from the rest. Hope your viewership increases astronomically.
in the scene where she is explaining about the things that kill you she says "only with the black mamba is death certain" and kiddo's codename was black mamba, i think its a fantastic touch
At 20:32 isssh... I just wanted to say, that on the FIRST, volume of Kill Bill, I had FORGOTTEN that Uma Thurman plucks out a person's eye from among the crazy 88. I forgot about it because there was so much time for me between vol. 1 & Vol. 2. But HERE, we see WHY & HOW she learned that technique!!
Credit to the magnificent, late actor Michael Parks. Playing two very different roles in Vol 2. Father figure Esteban Vihaio and Texas Ranger Earl McGraw. He also appeared as McGraw in Vol 1. He originally played the character of Texas Ranger Earl McGraw in Tarantino's 1996 film "From Dusk Til Dawn." He later played a different role in vol 3 of that franchise. He also played Texas Ranger McGraw in both segments of Grinhouse. Parks also appears in Django Unchained.
I remember the first one came out when I was 14. Literally everyone I knew was going to see it, and I had that actual stereotypical teenage experience where I was trying to explain that to my mom, probably sounding like I was exaggerating. But I was a theater kid, and I was being completely honest. There was so much hype in the theater department of my high school, that LITERALLY ALL OF MY FRIENDS were going to see this movie. Even my older brother tried to convince her. He was a senior, so he knew the situation. I still didn't get to go! I had to sit miserably at home while everyone went to see the most hyped movie of the year without me. 😂 Volume 2 was released not even a year later though, and I'm fairly sure she let me go to that one even though I was still 14. I have clear memories of the part where she's being buried. The screen is black, and you just hear her panicked breathing, and the sound of dirt piling on with that perfect movie theater surround sound. It was UNBELIEVABLY TENSE in the theater. Watching it at home really doesn't compare.
We've seen swords being unsheathed, we've seen the sword's sheath being cut in two. The final fight with Bill is the only time we see a sword being resheathed causing Bill to be totally defenseless. He wanted to put his sword in her but she wasn't having it.
Seeing as you love movie trivia, the book you saw in the final chapter, The Carrucan’s of Kurrajong by Jasmine Yuen, is a reference to a member of the crew, Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan (Second Assistant Camera). He name is also referenced later in Django Unchained, where Django was sold from the Carrucan Plantation. Speaking of Tarentino’s other movies, the girl who played Kiddo’s daughter, B.B., was cast again 15 years later to play the Hippie drug dealer in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Yeah, I think they busted the scene. But then again, it's not like Kill Bill was ever realistic, Pai Mei is about 1,000 years old and the airplanes in this movie have a special katana holder in their seats, you can see other passengers with katanas, lol (that always gets me).
The "first" ending, with the characters along with the music provides one of the most perfect emotional bookend moments of any film I've ever seen. "Here's where we started. Here's where we are." - all as the music builds. Beautiful.
Thank you for being educated on film and film theory and whatnot. You're the only one I found that does reactions and actually knows about the filming process and everything in between it's nice to see so thank you for your content:)
When I first saw these movies when I was younger, I didn't realize how fire Uma Thurman's performance was in both films lol she honestly should of won an oscar.
The first Tarantino movie I ever saw, and still one of my favorites; David Carradine deserved a nomination for this. You might enjoy The 36th Chamber of Shaolin from 1978; one of the best Shaw Brothers films, it stars Gordon Liu (one of the actors in both parts of Kill Bill).
I like how Beatrix's meeting with Bebe reflects the lyrics of the opening song, "My baby shot me down." Have you seen Tarantino's film "Death Proof" starring Kurt Russell? Also I recommend watching some episodes of the TV series "Kung Fu" from the '70s starring of course David Carradine. He is a Shao Lin monk who goes looking for his brother in the old west, helping those that need help and he makes his own flute too. There are many slo-mo kung fu fights.
Back in the '70's, the Unofficial Rumor was that Bruce Lee was Killed by a Yakusa Assassin using the Five Pint Palm Exploding-Heart Technique. Only, because of Mr. Lee's Great Physique It Took abit longer to take Affect. It Made for Great Fictional PR Over Mr. Lee's Passing and made his Death LEGENDARY! .
I think I'm the only person who didn't care for Inglorious Basterds. I mean yeah, Waltz's performance was stellar but the movie as a whole was just kinda meh.
So wait, what version were you watching where the credits were cut from the ending driving footage? It's supposed to be the "opening" credits format, and there's supposed to be a gag where every D.V.A.S. member has their actor's name crossed out EXCEPT Darryl Hannah (Elle) who gets a giant "?"
This is the version that's on the Blu-ray release. I have no idea why they used a version of the driving sequence with no credits over it - I think it might have been a mistake in the mastering process, they used the "clean" version by mistake.
@@CNash85 Ok, because I was a little confused as to what I was seeing. Thanks! I saw it in the theatre so I was waiting for the cool end credits scene with the song.
@@CNash85 I guess I'm happy I don't have the Blu-Ray. The combination of those credits and the preceeding full two-film cast list makes Kill Bill vol2 my favorite end credits sequence in all of films (followed closely by Return of the King/Battle of Five Armies and their beautiful cast illustrations)
I couldn't even begin with my favorite parts of this movie. Budd's very short summary of both them and Beatrix deserving to die for what they've all done. The way Bill describes telling Bebe about her mother ("... she's been dreaming of you"). Just the cloud of pain and love that hangs over everything between Bill and Beatrix. How she cries talking to him before he walks away to die This was a rough couple of movies to watch while going through a difficult break-up is what I'm saying
For those who loved Kill Bill, I would suggest watching some of its influences, like a shaw bros film, and watch that wonderful, but tragic game of death fight sequence that has the dragon in the now iconic yellow and black track suit. Also, special shout out to the RZA who did some of the score
I believe you're the first creator who's intro and outro I didn't want to skip, you're amazing, thank you! PS: Theme song is The Lonely Shepherd by Gheorghe Zamfir and James Last, I believe you'll appreciate watching a live version from the 70s, enjoy 🥰
The Mythbusters actually did a buried alive episode where they tested the breaking out of a buried coffin myth. They stopped the experiment early because they found that that amount of dirt crush a person instantly.
I love how you do a close-up on your face any time there’s something mildly interesting or moving going on. It makes me feel like you’re watching the movie with me and giving me real time feedback. Coming from someone who’s probably seen both movies 20 times before you. Well done!
Before the movie was split into two volumes, the audience wasn't supposed to know that Beatrix's daughter was still alive until the the climax of this movie, where she learns it herself. All the same, ending Volume 1 with that cliffhanger was great.
Saw I and II (as they came out) in theater with my teenage daughter. We were both pretty blown away by them. I like your reactions and the film-making craft comments, which add an interesting aspect to your videos.
It's a brilliant piece of writing to restore Beatrix's child to her. Revenge is an empty task. It's something she HAS to do, but it has no payoff in and of itself. Her motherhood is the payoff. It's perfect.
@@nickoftime5759 Indeed. I think she'll be back as well. Zatoichi was the legendary blind samurai in martial arts lore, so it would actually fit really well (plus imo there's zero chance in hell Quentin Tarantino is unaware of it and wasn't completely setting up that potential)
Tie-ins: In volume one, she kept the arms in the same way Pai Mei claimed hers. O-Ren Ishi said "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids." Trix, as in Beatrix. She plucked an eye from the Crazy 88 member. Pai Mai was based on a real character who founded a fighting style called "White Eyebrow." Mythbusters did try to test this, but the box wasn't strong enough to hold up the weight of the dirt. I don't recall if they retried it.
Two Dual performances: Michael Parks as Earl McGraw, a Texas Ranger who investigates the wedding chapel massacre. Parks also appeared in Volume 2 as a separate character, Esteban Vihaio. Gordon Liu as Johnny Mo (head of the Crazy88's) in Part 1. Liu also played Pei Mei in Part 2.
Regarding the pacing, the crazy thing is how he moves the ploy so fast, but finds time to dwell on details like the snake. He picks things to focus and take his time on that no other director I know of would bother with.
Always love your videos Shanelle. So I know these three are not Tarantino movies, but they are smart gritty 90's movies I would put in the same category. Would love to see your reactions on any of them! :) 1) Usual Suspects 2) L.A. Confidential 3) Momento

Edited by the late Sally Menke. Honestly, I think none of his films have been as good since her passing. And her last one was Inglorious Basterds. RIP Sally!
Uma almost did die making this movie, but not because of the training. It was the shot of her driving the blue car, on the way to Bill's place. Oh! You're watching this edited version of the credits. In the theatrical release, there was another set of credits, showing the list she had, and the names were crossed off on the screen... except for Daryl Hannah, which had a large ? over her name.
You definitely can’t get out of a coffin that’s under 6’ of dirt. It’s many tons worth and would’ve crushed the coffin already. Mythbusters did do it but the scene and the training with Pai Mei are no less awesome. Great channel btw!
The only argument that I would bring to that discussion is that it's loose dirt, not pre-existent earth...so density is going to be drastically different so it would be easier to claw through and you would leave empty space underneath you for the dirt to inhabit/recede too (along with coffin volume) that COULD make it possible to get six feet up (maybe less if you include the depth of the coffin) but the problem would be how she gains purchase in order to move upward (sides maybe?) The distance to the surface also diminishes as dirt falls into available empty volume below her. However, It's obviously designed and shot to be "hyper-real" or fable-ized. It is clearly intended for the viewer to suspend disbelief, but it MAY have been technically possible if the dirt were still loose from recent excavation and replacement. The other question I have is what was done with the Paula's coffin and corpse?
really? you mean everything we see on a film is not legitimate? you should start a channel to explain this to everyone else. I won't recommend a name for the channel since it should be obvious.
She couldn't have got out of that grave, nor anyone else. If someone does manage to punch their way out of that coffin (which in itself is likely impossible. She's not just punching thru the wood like she trained to do, but she's punching thru wood with hundreds of pounds of dirt pressing in on that coffin. Like trying to punch thru a window of a car after its submerged in water. Too much pressure.) But even if you make it out of the coffin, you would suffocate shortly after. If the dirt is soft enough for her to be able to get through it, then it would also be too soft for her to get any sort of leverage to be able to push herself upward. You would constantly sink back down every step and would run out of air quickly.
I believe the Mythbusters did an episode about this. Nothing was.strong enough to punch thru the coffin. Also the way the coffin was built in the movie would have collapsed from the weight of the dirt. Doesn't take anything away from.that being a cool scene
@@jdrussell3828 "Doesn't take anything away from.that being a cool scene" Definitely agree 100%. It's a fictional Tarantino action movie. While he is extremely good at giving us often shocking scenes in its realism, in a visceral way. It's still going to be crazy, requiring a suspension of disbelief.
I saw this when was released and As others have stated the Coffin scene is so creepy on a dark theatre. I highly recommend watching the Bonus Deleted Scenes. Finally We All Hope for Part 3 , Since Vernita's daughter would be in her 20s now ,as well as B.B. and Elle is still Alive 🤔🤔🤔
I'm glad you at least showed your reaction at the end of the Malaguena Salerosa credits. It is by far the coolest credit sequence ever made. And the "AKA Mommy" just hits you right in the heart.
my favourite detail in this movie is that the arm she plucked Elle's eye out with is the on Pai Mei claimed ownership of. he symbolically got revenge from beyond the grave.
There is a lot of symbolism with snakes in the Kill Bill movies. The group is called the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Beatrix>Black Mamba, Bill>Snake Charmer, Bud>Sidewinder, Elle>Californai Mountain Snake, O-Rin>Cottonmouth, and Vernita>Copperhead. Elle tries to kill Beatrix while she is in a coma because a Black Mamba is the 5th most venomous snake in the world. a California mountain snake wouldn't stand a chance in a fight against a Black Mamba. Bill calls off Elle because killing someone in their sleep is a cowardly move. Snakes prefer to kill their prey when it is alive and moving around.
MythBuster - there would not be enough oxygen in that confined space for her to what she did for real. Even if that part were possible .. the density of the dirt would have been impossible to get thru.
as to your question on a study of getting out of being burried alive, mythbusters did one and yes its possible you just need to know what to do and not panic, the hardest part would be breaking the coffin open with such little room but once its broken the weight of the dirt will do the rest of work you just have to push as much of as possible down to your legs and then climb up as the falling dirt fills the coffin, its not in the movie but wrapping your head in your shirt is a good way to keep the dirt out of yours lungs
I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but Pai Mei is actually a classic kung fu movie antagonist. He's inspired by a character from Chinese folklore named Bak Mei. You can find clips of other versions of the character on RUclips.

So Madsen insisted on wearing a hat that Tarantino insisted that he not wear. This is where there are two lines of dialogue aimed at Madsen about how stupid the hat looks.
Rick Dalton (Leo) did the margarita scene in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, before he confronted the hippies outside in the car. Michael Madsen was in a flashback scene from "Bounty Law", Rick's old TV show

Fun Fact: Beatrix Kiddo's daughter (B.B) is named after the initials of both parents (Beatrix & Bill)
Also Bills last name is Gunn. So her name is B.B Gunn 😂
@@SomeRandomDude895 I like that nugget of info, and always wondered about his surname; how did you learn about that?
EDIT: After a correction I have done some research and found this is just urban legend. I can't find any interviews with Tarantino where he says this, and the character name is Rufus in Kill Bill, not Jules, so I believe I was given bad info and just flat didn't do enough corroboration. Apologies to all.
ORIGINAL POST:
Fun fact: Tarantino confirmed in an interview that Samuel L Jackson's character at the wedding rehearsal is Jules from Pulp Fiction after he walked away from killing. His wandering led him to be the piano player at the wedding chapel.
So he died the same way Vince Vega did, even though he walked away? Sad.
@@SmellyBones I guess so technically. That's Tarantino for you lol.
If the vipers are the deadly sins, then Bill must be Satan.
Mythbusters did test the coffin escape. Sadly, Myth busted.

Only way it worked was if it was a shallow grave
in a sense, it's fiction, so it doesn't matter. it works in tarantino's film universe, the same universe that allows swords on planes
Oh, wow. I totally missed that, but it's clever
The confrontation with Bill is so good. The writing and acting are superb, and it goes on such an unexpected and still satisfying direction.
fantastic reaction. I love that you read behind the scenes info afterwards! Really interesting stuff. Here are some other tidbits.
"Bang Bang" the song sung at the beginning of Vol 1 is paid off by Beatrix getting "shot" by her "baby" cleverly named "B.B.". B.B. even SAYS "Bang Bang" before shooting Beatrix, echoing the song's line "Bang bang my baby shot me down."
Also some theorize that Bill's last name is "Gun or Gunn", thus their daughter being named "B.B. Gunn", but im not sure if this is confirmed or not, and B.B.'s official name seems to be "B.B. Kiddo"
Kiddo being another clever name, because it's what Bill constantly referred to her as in the first film. Also, her full name Beatrix Kiddo ties back to her fight with O-Ren, where O-Ren says "silly rabbit, TRIX are for KIDS"
Tarantino loves his puns and call backs, thats for sure.
that was pie Mei getting revenge on Elle & snatching her remaining eye. "since you're arm belongs to me now. i want it strong"

I liked it, but it’s a pretty hard film to watch at times, even for a Tarantino film.

in the scene where she is explaining about the things that kill you she says "only with the black mamba is death certain" and kiddo's codename was black mamba, i think its a fantastic touch
And I love the way the Mamba and Beatrix glare at each other as she exits the trailer.
Volume 2 was released not even a year later though, and I'm fairly sure she let me go to that one even though I was still 14.
It also has a sexual association, which I relate to the only thing left of Bill in the end being the daughter he gave her.
I did see this in the theater. It was great big and gorgeous and the buried alive scene was very claustrophobic. Sucked the air out of the theater.
Funny that you mentioned Mythbustering the coffin scene - they actually did cover both the escape and the 4 inch punch.
I think that was a salute to Bruce Lee's one inch punch.
@@axlslak no shit lol
Yeah, I think they busted the scene. But then again, it's not like Kill Bill was ever realistic, Pai Mei is about 1,000 years old and the airplanes in this movie have a special katana holder in their seats, you can see other passengers with katanas, lol (that always gets me).
I think this is the first time I've seen someone laugh at Beatrix blinding Elle.
I like how Beatrix's meeting with Bebe reflects the lyrics of the opening song, "My baby shot me down."
Have you seen Tarantino's film "Death Proof" starring Kurt Russell? Also I recommend watching some episodes of the TV series "Kung Fu" from the '70s starring of course David Carradine. He is a Shao Lin monk who goes looking for his brother in the old west, helping those that need help and he makes his own flute too. There are many slo-mo kung fu fights.
You missed your chance at 30:00 to put "Shanelle Riccio as The Reactor"
Back in the '70's, the Unofficial Rumor was that Bruce Lee was Killed by a Yakusa Assassin using the Five Pint Palm Exploding-Heart Technique. Only, because of Mr. Lee's Great Physique It Took abit longer to take Affect.
It Made for Great Fictional PR Over Mr. Lee's Passing and made his Death LEGENDARY!
.
I've seen all of Tarantino's work and personally I think Kill Bill is his masterpiece. You always review the coolest shit!!!
It is Amazing...but I'd say Inglorious Basterds is a tie.
Django unchained and inglorious basterds
How she cries talking to him before he walks away to die
This was a rough couple of movies to watch while going through a difficult break-up is what I'm saying
For those who loved Kill Bill, I would suggest watching some of its influences, like a shaw bros film, and watch that wonderful, but tragic game of death fight sequence that has the dragon in the now iconic yellow and black track suit. Also, special shout out to the RZA who did some of the score

Presumably the story of Kill Bill 3 would be Nikki Bell coming back for her revenge.
And Elle would somehow still be alive, albeit completely blind.
@@shadypelican I don’t know anything about Zatoichi, but Donnie Yen’s blind martial arts monk character in “Rogue One” was pretty great.
Maya Hawk could play a grown BB.
Tie-ins: In volume one, she kept the arms in the same way Pai Mei claimed hers. O-Ren Ishi said "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids." Trix, as in Beatrix. She plucked an eye from the Crazy 88 member.
Pai Mai was based on a real character who founded a fighting style called "White Eyebrow."
Mythbusters did try to test this, but the box wasn't strong enough to hold up the weight of the dirt. I don't recall if they retried it.
I live for your reactions 🙌🏻 The only person I’ve seen that talks about the intricacies of the movie magic behind the scenes. Absolutely awesome.

The best thing about having a long beard is Pai Meiing it, especially after I say something incredibly wise.
You definitely can’t get out of a coffin that’s under 6’ of dirt. It’s many tons worth and would’ve crushed the coffin already. Mythbusters did do it but the scene and the training with Pai Mei are no less awesome. Great channel btw!
its not mean to be realistic seeing as its a film within a movie universe
Six feet of dirt does not crush a coffin.
really? you mean everything we see on a film is not legitimate? you should start a channel to explain this to everyone else. I won't recommend a name for the channel since it should be obvious.
Ah Tarantino. Style, long moving shots, dialogue, violence, feet.
Genre pillaging.
Agree. Even in a comic book it would have been stupid.
I believe the Mythbusters did an episode about this. Nothing was.strong enough to punch thru the coffin. Also the way the coffin was built in the movie would have collapsed from the weight of the dirt.
Doesn't take anything away from.that being a cool scene
@@jdrussell3828 "Doesn't take anything away from.that being a cool scene"
Definitely agree 100%.

One of my favorite film songs from 'Fistful of Dollars' is played right after Bud shoots the Bride with rocksalt.
MythBuster - there would not be enough oxygen in that confined space for her to what she did for real. Even if that part were possible .. the density of the dirt would have been impossible to get thru.
In addition to the lack of room to actually leverage a real punch. You could push on the lid if you can get hands up, but with limited force.
as to your question on a study of getting out of being burried alive, mythbusters did one and yes its possible you just need to know what to do and not panic, the hardest part would be breaking the coffin open with such little room but once its broken the weight of the dirt will do the rest of work you just have to push as much of as possible down to your legs and then climb up as the falling dirt fills the coffin, its not in the movie but wrapping your head in your shirt is a good way to keep the dirt out of yours lungs
There is something you said in the final confrontation that makes me want you to see The Dead Zone.
I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but Pai Mei is actually a classic kung fu movie antagonist. He's inspired by a character from Chinese folklore named Bak Mei. You can find clips of other versions of the character on RUclips.
I think this was the best of QT’s work. The two together.

I'd say "Once Upon a Time in the West" was more of an influence on Kill Bill than "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".
Michael Madsen was in a flashback scene from "Bounty Law", Rick's old TV show
I don't think I ever knew, or have known since, what claustrophobia actually feels like until I saw the scene with her getting buried on the big screen, in a pitch black theater. One of the craziest most anxiety inducing theater moments i've ever experienced.
