Nice video….it is always so unfortunate looking at the comments and seeing people so butt hurt over someone’s opinion regarding anything that that doesn’t match their opinion. You chose Nikon and some of the folks in here have pea brain comments that show their own signs of weakness. This was your opinion based off of your use case after using the different cameras. Keep doing what you are doing because I have never noticed any bias in your reviews like i see in so many other RUclipsrs which puts you near the top in my book.
Yay Nikon! Still rockin' two Z6ii's along with the Nikon 24-70/ 35/ 50/ 85/105 & Tamron 35-150 (thanks to your recommendation) and I have never been happier with my wedding kit over the past 12 years of shooting :) Debated switching to the Z6iii for the better autofocus but for the time being, I am comfortable using focus points to make sure my subject is sharp. 🤘
I've been with Nikon non stop since 1991. Started on Rolleiflex in 1983. Just shot a wedding with the Nikon Z9 & Fuji GFX100S2, talk about the best in the world!
If you get the Sony a7IV, just be sure and get the extended warranty and two camera bodies (seems any paid pro would have a backup body anyway), for if/when the mechanical shutter crashes (sadly, often a lot sooner than it should)… 🙄 Hope they fix that with the a7V. The Nikon z6III does seem like the best choice for weddings at this point (for a reasonable price anyway, otherwise yeah Z8, or a1 II).
I want to choose between a74 and canon r5. I usually take wedding photos and wedding videos. Which one would be better? MP value is important to me. 24 MP is not enough for Sony a73. Which one would you recommend for me?
My wife has the Z8 which I use for my solo stuff, while I second shoot with the Z6II during our weddings. I love both cameras, when the time comes would the Z6III be better for a second shooter or just commit to double Z8s ?
Great call! Nikon is the new King of Kaizen. I could never rely on the Z6ii for AF so I jumped to the A7IV, couldn’t stand the screens so jumped to the A7RV… which having 26mp in Crop Mode gave me essentially 2 cameras in one… and I love it. But, you are correct, the Nikon files are so nice to work with in post (or no post with Jpegs). I would’ve moved to the Z6iii, but I need more MP’s. If the Z7iii has the same form factor, I may have to return to my roots… I’ve shot Nikon the majority of my life (found your channel with the 24-120 lens review), and they have built out a beautiful eco-system (as has Sony). Thanks for the unbiased review Brother!
my R3 has locked up when if i have flicked off and on really fast with GPS on. but other than that if the camera is in standby, i havent had an issue yet.
Great content Taylor. For shooting outdoors in Paris, considering the weight of the backpack, does image quality and final render justify going to Nikon? Choosing prime lenses, like a 50mm f1.2? Or with Sony one its ok saving my back ?
I’ve used the heck out of my R6 original, mostly adapting EF L glass, and have had ZERO problems so far. Definitely looking forward to what an R6 mark iii brings to the table.
Wait wait. I thought I’m supposed to hate all gear .. isn’t every feature ever just a gimmick? Shouldn’t I only listen to Facebook forums form anonymous and yet still generic accounts? You’re confusing me sir. Nothing makes sense anymore. Up is down. Cats and dogs are living in harmony. What am I even doing?
I'm honestly a bit skeptical of Taylor's take on the newer Canons. It seems like he's cool pumping up Nikon since he has a history with them and let's be honest, not too many sony hype beasts are considering a switch from Sony to Nikon. But he doesn't seem too keen on talking up the newer stuff Canon puts out (prob trying to keep sony happy). I went from an A7RV to the R5 Mark II and have been blown away. From a complete user experience standpoint it is miles beyond the Sony. The screen and viewfinder experience are much more natural, the ergonomics are on a different planet, SOOC results are incredible (huge time saver). I owned the original R5 and R6 when they first came out and can tell you for absolute certain the new products are significantly better. Lens prices are comparable to Sony as well and have much more character imho. Slightly used R5II's are going for like 3500 now which is just insane. Love love love Nikon also btw can't go wrong there either.
@ thats great to know! I was considering getting the r6ii but we are so close to the mk iii that i might just wait until it is released to sell my sony gear…
Why not? The thing is, you get a lot of cheaper full frame alternatives with cheaper lens selections, but if you use ultra fast lenses, you are good to go. Weddings aren’t very demanding of AF, as long as you don‘t overshoot and try to capture everything what happens in a second and the XT5 is a pretty good video camera as well. I don’t think you will benefit from the Fujifilm major benefits, because from my point of view, you should shoot raw and won’t find really good JPG recipes and the dials aren’t the best option. If I just buy a camera to shoot weddings or portrait, I would buy a cheap LUMIX S5, 50mm F1.8, 28-70 F2.8 and a Godox V1. You can also build this setup with Alpha 7 III or other brands. The reason for LUMIX is, that it’s good enough for wedding (of course not for any type of sport) and you can program up to 10 custom settings - even with the button mapping. So you can preconfigure every situation in camera from indoor, group, outdoor, macro, flash e.g and set buttons, ISO range, silent, min. shutter speed, self-Timer, set the aperture value to F1.8 / 8 which is very handy. If that’s your private camera too and you enjoy using the camera, than Fujifilm is hard to beat. And you can preconfigure a lot of this too. AF is very good, but sometime unreliable and you should consider carefully which lenses to choose. The 27mm F1.2 or 35mm F2 are very fast and accurate, the 16mm F1.4 or 56mm F1.2 are only reliable with slow moving subjects - but it’s hard to get most of the shots in low light.
I use the XT-5 as a companion to my film camera and deliver in the same section of the gallery. Make sure you have multiple batteries and don’t shoot Ch if you want to switch film sims
GRRR you have said something that doesn't align with my own beliefs and that makes me angry so rather than better educating myself on other systems I'm going to assume that you've sold out and Nikon is paying you more than Canon. *Insert GIF of Nun from GOT saying shame through the streets* Do better Taylor, do better.
APSC is doing well but it’s the small and cheaper lenses that are leading the pack. Reliability is definitely key. I think if Sony can bring out an A6800 with a joystick and a 2nd card slot the market would shift again.
@ I guess what I’m trying to say is the APSC line do so well because of the lenses more than the bodies as the overall weight works so well as a walk around camera. Some full frames are not far off the weight of the APSC but you add a full frame lens and it becomes a weight to carry around all day. Although Fuji are great at what they do, it seems more difficult for them to match the Sony autofocus, whereas in my non expert opinion it wouldn’t take much for Sony to add a joystick and a second card slot to their APSC line.
40 seconds in, decided that that was all the enabling i needed to get the a1ii😜 Jokes aside, in terms of image quality, do you have a preference between the a1ii and a7rv?😇thanks for another cool video :)
As an R5mkII user I'm like "Can I speak to your manager, sir" I haven't had a lockup yet but hopefully the R1/R5mkII mark a turn for Canon's firmware insanity.
I have been using nikon first.. then everybody said canon is superb..Then I bought canon...😊😊. Meanwhile everyone started shifting to Sony.. and I bought an a7iv last month... with sigma 85 1.4... But still not convinced with colour renditions from it when compared to Nikon or Canon... Now have all three brands .. Now in the dilemma of which one to sell😢😢😢

On z6iii, what af mode do you go to when multiple people are in the frame, and you need to lock on 1 only. Especially if that 1 is not looking at you
Any lock ups or bad stuff from like the R3 canon
I didn’t experience any on the r3

Yah, the flash course is pretty minimal for gear. I really don’t use a lot of

The flash course is more for indoor weddings so I wouldn’t say it’s the most applicable sadly

I have only used Lumix for travel and a few portraits, so I’m not the person to ask sadly

Thoughts on xt5 for weddings?
I didn’t use it for a wedding when I had it, but I believe it’s John Branchs go to camera. He’ll have a lot on his channel about it

APSC is doing well but it’s the small and cheaper lenses that are leading the pack. Reliability is definitely key. I think if Sony can bring out an A6800 with a joystick and a 2nd card slot the market would shift again.
Yah. I wish more companies would put something in the Fuji xt5 style space with 2 cards
