Awesome, looks good man! Yes yes yes, you hit the nail on the head there. You can stop "working on that car" and finally start building the sickxty. It's all downhill from here man, you got all the big stuff done!
Thanks man! I’m pushing hard to get the chassis done in a reasonable amount of time but life happens lol Unfortunately I still have some stuff to do on the body but at least the majority of it is done!
Hey Gary, If your getting excited I'm getting really excited. This build is happening and fast. So thanks for sharing not just the video but all your social media as well. ✌🏻 Peace.
Hey Kevin! I am excited to be making such progress and at a decent rate considering what all else we have going on in our lives. Thank you for always being here and for your support, it means the world to me.
That's a good job on those pans, its looking again to a full chassis again. the fun part can start from here on. a new bottle off gas will help a lot for working on the body, i hope you don't have much work on it? keep up the good work Gary.
Bit by bit, your getting there. Success awaits you and that winning post is getting closer. Great job you've done on those pans. Shane. (Aka Ian G.) :-)
It's coming along nicely. It was always a good feeling when accomplishing even the smallest steps. That makes the big ones (the most daunting ones) feel even better. I had to weld in my pans without gas. Yes, I had to use full electric and flux core. It was horrible. I didn't know what I was doing. I couldn't get the plugs to look like a pancake for anything. I made it work though. I ended up having my then 15 year old son stand on them and lightly bounce which proved the welding worked. I hated it though. Now I have gas and it has made a world of difference. It's almost like having a new welder. I too enjoyed opening/installing the packages of the new parts. Some the parts I installed were upwards of 20 years old purchased in early 2000's. Not complaining but other things (kids, food, bills etc.) have taken priority for so many years. You don't know what it does for this ole boys heart to see your videos, to get to go to VW shows and to actually work on my own VW. Thank you for the positivity coming through.
Thank you sir, I’m pushing pretty hard between work, kids, life to make some headway quickly. I ran a stock and flux core welder for years before I jumped to gas. Gas seems easier and cleaner but there’s nothing wrong with flux core welding. I’m really glad the videos help motivate you and keep you pushing forward. You have no clue how much that means to me today, I really needed that. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes, just plug weld. No need to stitch weld the entire thing as it needs some room to flex here and there. There’s a play list of videos on this build, heater channel and other vids are in the play list.
I appreciate you being here. Unfortunately, welder settings can fluctuate between brands. Just follow the guide in the welder for the size material you’re welding.
I would get rid of the jack points. I reinforced the pan perimeter channel beneath mine with some RHS tube, but I still don't use 'em as I use a trolley jack or scissor jack and use the torsion tubes as jacking points. Just my two cents.
Excellent point. There still there and I haven’t given another thought to removing them again honestly. Hopefully they won’t be in the way for something that I have planned for later down the road.
Quick question about that hook. It looked like there was a bit of metal still on the hook. Did you chisel that off or leave it on? I went ahead and chiseled it off of mine, as I thought it was part of the old floorboards. I'm wondering if the height my hooks (low) will be an issue. Thanks again for your videos!
Thanks buddy. Not sure what I referenced as PSA but possibly public service announcement. For the higher shots I made a boom like stand that I can raise up to higher levels.
Breaker, breaker... hey man is that a typical V8 style engine stand on the front? Did you have to modify it, like lengthen the height? Wondering if it's tall enough to spin the pan over. Thanks!!
So you went ahead and fully welded without putting the body back down, or did you take a bunch of measurements and reference points first? I'm doing pans and heater channels so im all freaked out nothing will line up properly.
I took a bunch of measurements from the old pans and also reference measurements from many points when I did the heater channels and also compared the new heater channel measurements to the new pans.
You seemed to be over the Covid . A guy asked Me why I was still wearing a mask , I told him " I don't want to catch Covid AGAIN ! If I would not got it to begin with I would had my new big valve heads now. I will get them by this summer. What I want to know is , Do b.v. heads run hotter than stock or is it about the same . I have a 71 bus .
Believe it or not I still have my days but for the most part I’m back into full swing. Big valve heads won’t make the bus run hotter, that’s all in your oiling system, air system, proper fitting tins, timing, carb fueling, etc. keep your compression low, follow the cam recommendations.
Hey Gary, On Thanksgiving day my wife went to to the E.R. she had been sick for a,a few months not getting better.... She never came back home, I last her on Jan 09/2022 to stage 4 lung cancer the moved to her brain.... the closest hospital we let her and I down calling it everything but what it was and about 12 months later of many visits the hospital closest to us decided to send her to Northeast Georgia in Gainesville Georgia to find out the infection in the top of her lung was not pneumonia was not covid it's was cancer..... my world has been crushed..
Wow, what a turn of events from one end to the other. I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what you’re going through or how you’re feeling. Please keep your head up and live each day the best you can. Life is short, I can attest to that whole heartily.
Eleven minute video to do floor pans. Took me a week to do floor pans and heater channels. Love the videos and Bella !
Luckily we did the channels last year so that’s out of the way. Floor pans took a while but that’s the beauty of editing the video lol
There are lots of videos on restorations. It's a nice talent to have!
My hat is off to you in your ability to envision what can be...
Yes sir, lots of videos and so many people are way more talented than I am. Luckily I can see what I want and am working hard to get to that point.
Awesome, looks good man! Yes yes yes, you hit the nail on the head there. You can stop "working on that car" and finally start building the sickxty. It's all downhill from here man, you got all the big stuff done!

Great work, Gary! Now, seam seal those suckers and paint! This project is going to be awesome!
Yes sir, that’s next weeks video…. Seam seal and paint!!
Good job, you’re moving right along! Looks like the Pans fit very well.
Thanks man, it took a little bit to get them to fit the way I wanted but that’s what editing is for.
@@VWJawbreaker Oh heck yeah! Unfortunately they’re all like that now for the most part

A major milestone! That went smoothly too. 👍
It seemed smooth since there was video editing involved 😂
Looking good Gary, great motivation, it’s come along way from the pieces You dragged home .
That’s so true David, it’s come a long way. Thanks for being here buddy!
Pan's look great Gary!! thanks for the video and your time see you on the next one.
Thank you sir and thanks for being here.
Great progress Gary. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Thanks, it’s coming along quickly now!
Hi Garry, Indeed one step closer to the next pitch👍🏻, nicely welded great progress👏. Have a great week greeting. Hubertus☮🍀🇳🇴
Thank you buddy, I appreciate that!
Have a great week as well my friend.
First time I've seen anyone glue those on, seems easier than what i thought.
There’s really not much to them besides making sure they fit right.
you are a man of your craft mad respect
Thank you for that but I know enough to get by.
Awesome Gary, looking forward to the next video👍
Thank you sir, we’re moving right along.

Yes sir, it’s down hill from here…. On the chassis at least.
Unfortunately still more to do on the body but not much left.
Great job Gary, you made it look easy. I like that hole punch tool.
Thank you sir! The tool makes quick work vs a single drill bit.
Woooooow so awesome to see those in!!
Thanks, it’s very satisfying
Very closely following this build. Love how simple you keep things and focus on small wins.
I appreciate you being here. Imo there’s no need to over complicate things and small wins are nice especially when life is so hectic and busy.
Bit by bit, your getting there. Success awaits you and that winning post is getting closer. Great job you've done on those pans. Shane. (Aka Ian G.) :-)
Yes sir, definitely knocking things off of the list. Feel like I’m really making progress on the chassis!

The HF holepunch works great on floorpans. Its what I used years ago.
Works great for patch panels also… usually forget I have it lol
As always absolutely awesome 👍
Thank you 🙏 👍
This is such an awesome step. You’ve come so far on this project now your taking the turn to reassembly. Great job!
Thanks man, it feel nice to be putting things together and see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Good stuff man! It's getting there!
Yes sir, it’s coming along quickly now!
The video I’ve been waiting for. Thank you
Hopefully it’ll help you along John.
@@VWJawbreaker I may beg for a pic or two later when it gets warmer…where the pan meets the popes hat on the outside edges.
@@BeemerBob73 I’ll try to help if I can.
Those pans looked like they fit right in without much modification.
Took a little grinding here and there to fit properly.
Looks great!
Thank ya sir, moving on!
The pans look great. More progress every week. If you need gas, I've got some.
Thank you sir, I’m working hard to get some progress made! I ended up swinging by the supplier a few days later and swapped my tank out.
Man whe you get crackalacking you get tah crackalacking👍
Great job I'm also excited can you tell...👏👏
Indeed sir, I think a lot of us are finally getting excited for the progress!
Looking really good! Need me to drop off my 2lbs reel of .030 flux core so you can keep moving along?
Thank ya sir! I swapped the bottle out like 2 days later when I had to go to Deland for work!
Good video again , do u just plug weld it as opposed to a line of welds? Have you got and know of a video that shows the new heaters channels in ?
Thank you. Yes, just plug weld. No need to stitch weld the entire thing as it needs some room to flex here and there.
There’s a play list of videos on this build, heater channel and other vids are in the play list.
I really enjoy watching your channel . Can you tell what settings you use on your welder for floor pans ?

Hey buddy, I did chisel the remaining metal off of the hook. You should be good as the pics you showed they look good 👍
Great video Gary, looks like a pan again, two questions what is PSA, and how do you get the overhead video, thanks buddy, catch you in a little bit
Thanks buddy. Not sure what I referenced as PSA but possibly public service announcement.

baby gotta brand new bottom
That she did!

Trust me, I had my doubts things would line up. Take detailed measurements from solid reference points.
