As a black templar player, I can confirm that you can NOT trap the Black Templars. I was playing against a Thousand Sons player, and he deep striked terminators and sever smaller units behind my lines. My templars simply formed a circle in the middle of the map.... And charged. His warlord, and half of his army was wiped out in one turn of shooting, charging and melee. He was so appalled and astonished with how well the Black Templars worked in counter assaults, that he actually surrendered.

@@Marinealver But the Black Templar are the only Chapter/Legion who openly defy the Codex and are one united chapter with way over 1000 marines. Not counting the unaugmented backup troops they keep on cleansed plantes. Also a fun fact that isn´t mentioned in the video, the Black Templar may defy the Codex Astartes, but they don´t break it´s rules. They use a Loophole that states, that a Chapter can surpass the 1000 Marine-mark in the case of a great crusade, to counter the loses. The "Eternal Crusade" isn´t just a saying, it´s a middle finger in the Ministorums face, because they can´t do a thing against the Templars for defying the Codex Astartes.

Back during 3rd addition I was a mere boy with aspirations of getting into the hobby. My parents one Christmas bought me the rule book and several models. I wanted to play xenos scum and my little brother wanted to be space marines. He attempted to paint them like the Black Templars. I’ll never forget the picture in the rule book. Thousands of angry stabby boys doing the Emperor’s work. Now that I am a grown man and my little bro passed away I feel like I can remember him through the Black Templars. My fiancee used to get annoyed when id play 40k vids then she heard ur readings now she watching uv vids with me and getting into the lore. The pitch and Timbre of your voice and your own obvious emotional investment in your readings gets her emotionally invested in hearing the lore

There was a perfect moment in your intro. I don't use the word lightly, and it goes beyond the monthly use of "epic" I gladly bestow upon this video. Bell tolls on 0:06, 0:10, skipping to 0:21, skipping to 0:33 Establishes the moment with the toll of the bell on the word faith. 0:40 The payoff comes with, "and they are *thus*" on screen *THE BLACK TEMPLARS* and the crack of thunder. Fucking flawless execution. The irregular cadence of the bell arriving on the missed third beat has the audience waiting for the familiar, and we instead get ":14 Know :15 Of :16 Us?" as if it's our act of questioning that disrupts the consistency, and we're left waiting for the answer. "Who :20 We :21 Are."

Rogal Dorn was the name of my character in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Running that garage, doing those runs, honking that horn -- and the avatar picture from the game's setup was priceless, too, with the white hair except a lot messier, and the poor guy had this wide-eyed, haunted stare by sheer chance that actually sold how it could really be Rogal -- and I like to imagine even now, though I haven't touched that game in a while, that someway/somehow that's where he's actually been hiding this whole time: not anywhere in the Imperium, but through the Black Library and into another franchise about trucking simulation. Oh, yeah, and you know he drove a yellow truck, too. He just couldn't give that part of it up.
My brother in law is getting me into Warhammer, he told me to watch your videos, because he said you do the best job at laying things out. As a newbie to the WH world, I can't wait to explore the immense volume of lore. Thank you!!!

So i found this video, then as advised watched all 3 rogal dorn parts, hen came back to this. Honestly thanks man. Great storytelling literally couldnt do anything was to focused on your voice and the images you paint, i loved this templars one made me sub. Rekindled my love for the lore and my 2k army from 10years ago.

I honestly don’t know what is more astonishing. The sheer tenacity of the templars or the fact the Templar at 28:56 managed to keep both candle wicks from going out while on the battlefield. I truly am impressed.

Just discovered your channel and as a Warhammer guy since 2000 (Tomb Kings, Lizardmen, Bretonnia, Necrons, and Tau, I absolutely loved this video, having taken the plunge on Templars in late 2020. Straight into how utterly uncompromising and fanatical these marines are.

@@Marinealver But the Black Templar are the only Chapter/Legion who openly defy the Codex and are one united chapter with way over 1000 marines. Not counting the unaugmented backup troops they keep on cleansed plantes.
Also a fun fact that isn´t mentioned in the video, the Black Templar may defy the Codex Astartes, but they don´t break it´s rules. They use a Loophole that states, that a Chapter can surpass the 1000 Marine-mark in the case of a great crusade, to counter the loses. The "Eternal Crusade" isn´t just a saying, it´s a middle finger in the Ministorums face, because they can´t do a thing against the Templars for defying the Codex Astartes.

Back during 3rd addition I was a mere boy with aspirations of getting into the hobby. My parents one Christmas bought me the rule book and several models. I wanted to play xenos scum and my little brother wanted to be space marines. He attempted to paint them like the Black Templars. I’ll never forget the picture in the rule book. Thousands of angry stabby boys doing the Emperor’s work. Now that I am a grown man and my little bro passed away I feel like I can remember him through the Black Templars. For I must serve a penitence crusade for thinking xenos were cool:). In all reality Baldamort this is my favorite video of yours. Long time fan first time commentator. Keep up the good work.

Rogal Dorn was the name of my character in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Running that garage, doing those runs, honking that horn -- and the avatar picture from the game's setup was priceless, too, with the white hair except a lot messier, and the poor guy had this wide-eyed, haunted stare by sheer chance that actually sold how it could really be Rogal -- and I like to imagine even now, though I haven't touched that game in a while, that someway/somehow that's where he's actually been hiding this whole time: not anywhere in the Imperium, but through the Black Library and into another franchise about trucking simulation.
Oh, yeah, and you know he drove a yellow truck, too. He just couldn't give that part of it up.
That is sooo cool. But hopefully we won;t have to wait 3 decades for Rogal return. I can't wait myself. :)

Thank you brother. Templars are an amazing army if you are a narrative player. But rules change and, for me, its the feel, the legend that makes an army a labour of love. Not the stats. But do try a few games out with friends or at your local club before you purchase anything. If you intend to play - make it an army you can gel with? Only a thought, brother. Only a thought.

I honestly don’t know what is more astonishing. The sheer tenacity of the templars or the fact the Templar at 28:56 managed to keep both candle wicks from going out while on the battlefield. I truly am impressed.
