    Nice video Doug! Your teaching has improved on this one compared to previous vids; good work and keep it up. I can't wait to see how you end up in a year's time especially as you're hitting a really popular niche too by focusing on these styles.

    The part about making the vocals as loud as yelling has really helped me get the higher notes I've been trying to reach.

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад +1

      +Genesis-X-Eli Glad it helped man. This was the BIGGEST thing I struggled on. Check this video out - ruclips.net/video/AQy1vIysgrE/видео.html
      It's my transformation video, but you can see I just wasn't loud enough.

    • @CrimsonHeart3
      @CrimsonHeart3 8 лет назад +1

      +Genesis-X-Eli YEP, this also made a big difference when i discovered it. In my opinion, it MUST, be a very common problem considering the world we live in is so populated, people probably don't try to be loud so they don't disturb others etc. Its a really big restriction that should be obvious to us, but i think the problem is we create an "unconcious" barrier in this aspect due to priorities, we put our worries at 1# and forget the consequences.

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад +1

      This is the best video representation of what you are talking about. (Don't judge it too quickly) - I personally love this video. ruclips.net/video/cHFYEQRnQew/видео.html

      Doug Zeigenbein YES!!! Elliot is a beast, tons of great content, i can't lie that video is part hilarious, part deep meaning lol i laughed so much the first time i watched it. Too be fair, the music is way too loud lol i can barely hear what hes saying (not sure if its just me, maybe my headphones are messed up)

  • @svegaldde
    @svegaldde 8 лет назад +2

    Again a great video. So does the range come naturally by itself, like stretching the chest voice?

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад

      +svegaldde It starts to increase slowly when you keep singing on your highest notes and your voice gets better adjusted to it. I needed actual lessons to speed up the process and make sure I did it correctly. This video is just a very good step in the right direction as a opposed to the bad information spread online. To increase your range you can buy a program and train yourself or get weekly lessons to keep you better on track. Both work, but it depends on your goals!

    • @svegaldde
      @svegaldde 8 лет назад +1

      +Doug Zeigenbein The tip to actually sing really loud is very helpful. :) But it's really hard to tense your belly but not your neck ;)

    Could you make a video about the mixing of voice and song? :)
    or a video in general, how to record your voice! that'd be great:)

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад

      +WaswolfGaming Sure :) but the gist of it is... I own a cheap large diaphragm condensor mic (AT2020). This goes into a Focusrite 2i2 -> into my laptop. Then you record with whatever DAW you would like. I learn't everything in music production through the "Recording Revolution" channel here on RUclips.

    The only vocal training videos that actually helped me better my singing, do you by any chance know how to scream like vic fuentes or kellin quinn, i've noticed that they're screaming sounds a bit different than that of oliver sykes or austin carlile, they're screaming is pure fry, but vic fuentes and other post hardcore artist scream differently or is it just studio effects?¿

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад

      +Dennis Toscano Thanks for the kind words man, yeah I agree Vic and Kellin's screams sound very different to Austins. Vic stated in this interview he doesn't know how he screams really that he just "does it" - ruclips.net/video/5boC54f0-rU/видео.html
      I think Vics screams are really different to how they are now. Listen to "The Cheap Bouquet" then listen to "Tangled In The Great Escape". You'll see how much lower his screams are now.
      In my opinion everyone sounds kind of different when screaming (which is really cool). Learn to scream in general, and do your best to emulate whatever sound want. I am not much of a screamer, just focusing on singing now- I just do the basic fry sound like in this video. Hope this helps man! Thanks for the support again.

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад +2

      +exkiller47 My room is not actually sound proof =S every neighbor can hear me when I sing/make these videos. What I have on my walls is the Auralex studio foam, which is actually just acoustic treatment. It doesn't block out the sound outdoors!~

    • @exkiller47
      @exkiller47 8 лет назад

      +Doug Zeigenbein oh okay I see I watched one of your other videos on how people like Parker from tssf sing and with that technique do you have to always use it when you're singing?

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад

      Yep when singing the high notes, lower notes you don't need to tense as much. But it is more natural as you will just "feel" that you don't need that much tension since it is easier!

    • @exkiller47
      @exkiller47 8 лет назад

    So I hear my own voice and I "think it's good" (rarely do I think it's good. I hate it.) Do you think anyone can sing? And what I mean by that, is anyone who has a bad voice. Like mine xD

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  8 лет назад

      +Khronicz Yeah anyone can learn the skills to be a singer, I'm not sure how you sound so you might have a unique sounding voice. What you can learn is the techniques to unlock vocal freedom, range and more TONE. Difficult to judge. Upload a singing clip to a website like "box" and email me with the contact in this videos description and I can help you out!
