    Thank you so much for creating this tutorial. I kept all my dad's clothing so that I could make some memory items as well. It's been 5 years now, and I still haven't gotten the inspiration to start deconstructing his clothing. I came across your video today, you have inspired me to start creating some items. Thank you sooo soo much.

    thank you so much for this video! I've had Dad's shirts for almost 6 months and am finally ready to actually cut them to make memory pillows for myself, 4 sisters, and Dad's widow. what an emotional first cut!!! I did not anticipate the flow of emotion.....I love the handkerchief idea, especially since Dad always had one handy!

      E Wagner you are very welcome. Just remember to breathe, you will get through. I still have his dress shirts and Mom’s nightgowns and hankies. Want to put them together in a quilt somehow, still thinking! Too early yet, Mom just passed last September. Thank you for your video comment. Happy sewing

    Thank you so much for doing this video , I asked for my daddy's shirts and I'm going to make memory pillows for my 6 sister's, and the bear's for the grandchildren. Like the hanky idea in the pocket too.

    Thank you for taking time to make this video. I just picked up my dads shirts today to make pillows and quilts but see your bears and want to make those. Thank you for including pattern number and how to cut them out.

    I hope you do not feel guilty for cutting his shirts. You seem like a very creative woman and your dad would be very proud. Great videos.

    I'd like to keep the shirt collar and part of the button placket to make it seem like the bear is wearing a shirt. I'd be interested in pointers on how to put it together. It's a paid job that needs to be done before Christmas.

    • @TheQuiltingStash

      Wise Woman not sure what advise I could give you, not knowing the pattern you are using. I would recommend sewing the placket closed and use it as the fold. As far as the collar, if the head is a separate piece, attach it with the head when you attach to the bottom. If the body and head are one piece like mine, I would hand sew it to the neck. I hope this helps.

      Donna DiMarco Campagne my good wishes go with you. It isn’t easy. I didn’t understand my grief, until someone told me that my grief is now a part of me. I need to find a place in my heart to accept it. This helped me a lot to understand it will never go away. My Dad has been 5 years this Christmas and Mom is now a year. Good luck, cry, laugh and enjoy the process, it will hurt but the pain helps you through it. The first cut is the worse. I found myself, remembering good times he wore most of them!

    My friend's dad passed away. She didn't want to give up all his shirts. So she saved a few of her favorites and we will turn them into pillows on Monday. Thanks for the tutorial.

    Ladies short sleeve shirt not enough fabric for the bear?

    • @TheQuiltingStash
      @TheQuiltingStash  Год назад +1

      I have used women’s blouses, but they had long sleeves, I have never tried a short sleeve. But my particular pattern would use the front and back only. It would depend on the size of your pattern.
