Warriors Orochi 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all amazing in my eyes. I just love everything about their story, the concept of an immortal entity manipulating space and time to create his own pocket dimension to fight humanity's strongest warriors sounds really appealing to me.
Warriors Orochi 1 and 2 will always have a special place in my heart, they had the best gameplay in the series. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate had the best story in the series. Warriors Orochi 4 ain't shit but it is VERY lackluster story wise. But the gameplay is great.

Wo3 ultimate have the best story, gameplay and characters interaction each other, Wo4 is not bad, I think it's a good stress reliever game, and Wo1 and 2 are legend now
I'm still mad that Warriors Orochi 2 never came out for PC. Warriors Orochi played a big part of my childhood, and to a certain degree shaped my taste in music. As a kid, I scoured the internet to find some info on a PC release of Warriors Orochi 2, spent countless hours on the game's site just to marvel at the new characters, I don't know why but I fanboyed Yoshitsune Minamoto. I just thought he looked so cool. Watched countless of videos of the gameplay, but never got to play it :(
Hyper was a great port. I wish Orochi 3 Ultimate or 4 would've made it to Wii U because the co-op works so well with the console. Playing warriors game without having to do split screen was a blessing.
WO3U, MOZ, DW4Hyper/Xtreme, SS4Special (DW5 on PC) and DW8XLCE are basically the best Warriors games from Koei. Worst ones are easily DW1, DW2 and arguably DW6 (it did some things top tier like character designs and immersion of swimming etc, also has some of the best stages) and maybe DW9 although it is heavily updated now like previous entries and isn't that bad. DW6's Renbu system is just so bad that it makes you want to stop playing after 2 minutes. From Samurai Warriors series only 3rd one had glaring downsides, exclusivity and not making up in terms of gameplay.
Warriors Orochi 1 was a great start to the series. Unfortunately, unlocking warriors was a pain in the ass. Warriors Orochi 2 was well balanced, replay value was strong and the unlockables weren't that painful. Downside is that the Orochi X boss battle wasn't as good as the Orochi boss battle in Warriors Orochi 1. Warriors Orochi 3 had a large character roster, awesome guest characters and answered questions. Downside is that the story missions are all over the place and the replay value for story mode is weak (you have to have a good memory to remember the order of missions you did). It felt like a great sendoff title for the series. Warriors Orochi 4 felt tacked on. It didn't feel like an Orochi title. It wasn't a bad game (had a lot of fun bulldozing hordes of enemies with a powered up Yukimura), but it didn't have enough there for me. Long story short, Warriors Orochi 2 is my favorite and the Warriors Orochi series is an awesome crossover series.
You know that once all of the chapters are completed and unlocked the game is also designed for you to play the game in Chronological order from chapter 7 on the chapter select screen all of the way through to chapter 8 right?

I even bought warriors orochi z (the Japanese ps3 game that combines wo1 and 2 into just one game) and I love that too death to. The surprising thing as well though is that I also love warriors orochi 3, especially the ultimate edition, it feels like such a pinnacle and high point with so many characters, stages, game modes it's and equally fantastic experience. Then there warriors orochi 4 which unfortunately was just okay. It was miles better that warriors all stars but the introduction of artifacts and the butchering of game modes and characters left it all feeling lacklustre
for me it was the lack of a branching story like 3, no town mechanics ect- I'm enjoying 4 with ultimate edition but it's not the same as previous, game play feels incredible tho
I think wo2 was better because samurai warriors 2 had the same battle style on the 360 still my favorite samurai warrior title but when I was younger my file got corrupted I lost everything I was so sad I still played tho it was fun rebuilding fr but still mad I lost my progress

Musou Orochi Z is good in this regard as its a combination of 1 and 2 and requires lower levels of proficiencies to unlock things like the dream scenarios
Looking at the comments, I feel like I'm the only one who likes the newest entry the best. I don't know if it's people's nostalgia or what lol. To me, Musou games just keep on improving on the gameplay with each entry. Yeah, there are misses here and there (cough DW6 cough), but in general, I'm always looking forward to the next game and how much more fun it will be to play.

If you don't mind japanese then please look into musou orochi z it's a ps3 HD port of wo1 and 2 combined into one game with new features. It has the same ui layout as wo2 in English so it's still incredibly easy to navigate
It won't have English dub but try getting musou warriors z. It's a HD ps3 port of wo1 and 2 that plays and have menus like wo2 but extra stages and more. It's seriously fantastic and because ps3 is region free you can play this on your ps3 without problems

Never finished WO1, so idk WO2 I just played the Maou Sairin one(it's FULL Japanese) so idk the story but it feels enjoyable and now i learned about the story(by watching the gameplay walkthrough of english ver) and yeah, story wise, its really good. Vanilla WO3 never tried it but bcs the story also included in the Ultimate ver, it have really2 great story. For WO3U, the Ultimate Ver of thr story have great story where we can explore more about something in the series that may grudge us. The new chars have really enjoyable gameplay tho. WO4U have great gameplay and also gameplay concept, upgraded graphics, but unfortunately, the story just ok.... until you upgrade it to ultimate ver. Ultimate ver have better story(for me) than the story that added at vanilla WO4. But whole WO4U lacks of cutscenes about interaction between char rather than whole previous series. I may can understand this since dw9 have alot of backlash and the sale is down so they need to catch their budget fast
Tbh we all agree that wo 1 and 2 are the best series because it's story but for me not just story because i think the move list that make the game for me always enjoyable im not said that 3 not good but i rather fall to category good story but decent at gameplay not really good at all but the roster cover the decent gameplay and the last the wo 4 (including the ultimate ver) which i think it's good at the gameplay if the wo 4 original roster have good movelist rather that good choreography with overpower asf dmg or chees ability you know like they so much powerfull even if u set at chaos or even pandominium ( u can set it at wo4 ultimate) not just that the musou power kinda lackluster for the roster execpt the original character from wo 1 - 3 which still same cause they not change at all cause we all know that we better burn 1 bar to do super magic then combo into the unity magic which almost can kill small officer rather that musou attack that can't even kill a soldier and then the story kinda like forcing the new character to get in the already perfect story which make it bad ( kinda like kazumi and Akina from Tekken 7) the character not have any hardwork to find it's very easy (cause it story progres you Will get it all ), simplify the weapon system ( i hope it's like wo 2 where you need find the treasure to get powerfull weapon atribute ) but the most think i want to see "if" KOEI still want to make wo 5 is plz return the old taigong Wang musou attack from wo 2 which almost granteed and one hit kill and put every singel collab character so we gonna have very nice game

If you can survived WO1 Chaos mode with every characters then you had 0 issue with the rest of series, why do i say that? There's a system called Upgrade Skill which you can equip up to 3 diff skills for your weapon (Almighty for example) and that system does not exist in WO1, the damage of enemies that does to you is really... really painful even standard soldiers are extremely aggressive unlike any other plus they can kill you in 4 hits (Full 2 HP Bars) without defense skills, while Lu Bu and Orochi is 2 - 3 hits and his special grab skill instant death. Note: Musashi is the most OP character in WO1 but gets nerf in the rest of series, his C2 can instant kill any 2 bars enemy officers regardless they had def buff or not if you had the right attributes for your weapons.
Orochi 4 is top 3 favorite couch co op games me and my roommate got the platinum trophy we had so much fun on it and about to have more with the ultimate edition
Yo fandom tell me; do ANY warriors have an officer creation option? Lord tell me why after DW:4 it wasn't implemented in every version of a romance of the kingdoms game. It should always always be in there for replayability's sake period. I don't get it.
Warriors Orochi 3 was honestly the most fun imo. That's probably due to the absurd nature of it all, both in regards to the story and the characters (especially the guest characters). It's a dam shame that Ultimate didn't get localized for the Switch. Orochi 4 is fun, but it feels so bland. No personality at all and getting rid of the main hub in favor for a menu with a subpar character select screen really hurt the playing experience.
I never enjoyed warriors orochi games until 4. Because during 1 & 2 I was stuck on dynasty warriors. But they really dropped the ball on dw9 lol. The idea sounds good but naw, not for dw

I just bought digitally Warriors Orochi 1 & 2 on Xbox 360 and it is glorious.
It's great to know the Warriors Orochi franchise evolved with the times over the course of it's 11 years as a popular franchise.

Tbh we all agree that wo 1 and 2 are the best series because it's story but for me not just story because i think the move list that make the game for me always enjoyable im not said that 3 not good but i rather fall to category good story but decent at gameplay not really good at all but the roster cover the decent gameplay and the last the wo 4 (including the ultimate ver) which i think it's good at the gameplay if the wo 4 original roster have good movelist rather that good choreography with overpower asf dmg or chees ability you know like they so much powerfull even if u set at chaos or even pandominium ( u can set it at wo4 ultimate) not just that the musou power kinda lackluster for the roster execpt the original character from wo 1 - 3 which still same cause they not change at all cause we all know that we better burn 1 bar to do super magic then combo into the unity magic which almost can kill small officer rather that musou attack that can't even kill a soldier and then the story kinda like forcing the new character to get in the already perfect story which make it bad ( kinda like kazumi and Akina from Tekken 7) the character not have any hardwork to find it's very easy (cause it story progres you Will get it all ), simplify the weapon system ( i hope it's like wo 2 where you need find the treasure to get powerfull weapon atribute ) but the most think i want to see "if" KOEI still want to make wo 5 is plz return the old taigong Wang musou attack from wo 2 which almost granteed and one hit kill and put every singel collab character so we gonna have very nice game

I only played Warriors Orochi 3. I do plan on getting 1, 2, and 4.
If you can survived WO1 Chaos mode with every characters then you had 0 issue with the rest of series, why do i say that? There's a system called Upgrade Skill which you can equip up to 3 diff skills for your weapon (Almighty for example) and that system does not exist in WO1, the damage of enemies that does to you is really... really painful even standard soldiers are extremely aggressive unlike any other plus they can kill you in 4 hits (Full 2 HP Bars) without defense skills, while Lu Bu and Orochi is 2 - 3 hits and his special grab skill instant death.
Note: Musashi is the most OP character in WO1 but gets nerf in the rest of series, his C2 can instant kill any 2 bars enemy officers regardless they had def buff or not if you had the right attributes for your weapons.

Warriors Orochi 3 was honestly the most fun imo. That's probably due to the absurd nature of it all, both in regards to the story and the characters (especially the guest characters).
It's a dam shame that Ultimate didn't get localized for the Switch.
Orochi 4 is fun, but it feels so bland. No personality at all and getting rid of the main hub in favor for a menu with a subpar character select screen really hurt the playing experience.
1 and 2 were fuckin great! 3 was ok.. 4 was please don't make anymore.......... I just really miss the faction stories they did in 1 and 2..
