in chess it is not allowed to put your king in check, or leave him in check(you forfeit if you don’t pull him out). You only lose the game if it is impossible to escape check. since the king has a full range in all directions it is impossible for a king to close the distance without putting himself in check.
@@C0rruptedSpY what if you wipe out competitors entire pieces accept for king trap said king can only move between two spaces place your king at ready to move only one space both protected and will check mate move one of your other pieces that forces their king into last only space then move king into place where it checkmates and is protected so the opponents king can't move back to the last safe space and can't take out your king without going into check wouldn't that be a checkmate being done by your king having done last move?
James Polland that still counts as putting your king in check. kings cannot move in range of each other without checking themselves. The game ends when the king is defeated so it doesn’t matter if both kings check, only which one loses first. Basically, its impossible by the rules of the game for a king to check another king since the king would have to put themselves in check, which is an illegal move. you could use your king to trap the enemy king, but you cannot use it as a direct check.

Its impossible to skip turns in chess, and if the king is the only piece left and any move puts it in check they are essentially forced to forfeit. it would be pretty hard to put the king in a pin as the last piece, since if it is the last piece left it must keep moving, making it pretty hard to arrange a full directional cage around it. I can only see it done with 4 queens/rooks, which requires promotions of pawns. I guess if you cage the king then capture the second last piece they have then it would be theoretically possible. however the odds of this happening naturally are probably close to nothing.
