Parents, ask you child what they want don't tell them what you want. Many students don't like Engg so don't pressurise them. Liberal arts, law, commerce are good course. Always encourage your child to become an entrepreneur. Let them start with a small business. Don't worry about society.

9:24 No sir. My cut off is 166.5. My community is BC. I can get seat in CSE branch in Panimalar Engineering College as per 2023 & 2022 TNEA Counselling.
150+ marks in TNEA cutoff is good enough to get seat in circuital branches in many autonomous colleges affliated to Anna University.

Yes brother you can take a drop year for JEE. I myself a JEE dropper. Make sure to join any coaching (online or offline (offline is preferable)).

You are talking about colleges in TN and the central institutions like IIT & NIT. But you are completely missing out on great colleges in other states. For example, RVCE Bangalore - it is Karnataka's top ranked engineering college (excluding central institutions). It has excellent placements. The good part is that 30% of the seats are filled through ComedK exam, which is conducted at all India level for 30% seats in all Karnataka colleges. There are similar such opportunities in other states as well. You need to include these opportunities when guiding TN students.
Unfortunately, this information is too late for 2024 students as ComedK and other similar exams are already over for this year.
