@@AudiomoMusic When I visited the Franklin Guitar Works site just now, it appears that they don't have any guitars for sale on the site, only components, electronics, pickups, and bodies...no complete guitars?
Good job, sir. I’m an old fella and I’m impressed by your playing, poise, and knowledge! Keep it up and you’ll have a large viewer base soon! I’m a Tele guy, by the way…
Thanks Justin, I'm a guy that just loves telecasters too. I really appreciate that but I just try to do this for fun it's a bonus people watch and enjoy it at all honestly
😍 Love that color and rosewood fingerboard. Nice playing and the guitar sounds great. I got a new Player Telecaster direct from Fender this past January. The guitar had no issues, everything about it was super fine no problem so Fender is capable of getting things right as they did with your new guitar as well. Cheers!
My 60th Anniversary Jag is near perfect (just blue paint spillover from top of headstock). But I also got this Tele in surf green and it wasn't playable. The nut slots weren't cut and the leveling wasn't done. I finished the frets and nutwork by myself, having to learn how to do it. I made a video of it but decided it's bad for a nobody like me to post a video blasting Fender. That said, my best Jazzmaster is the AVII.
You did some nice strummings in your demo. I guess many of us out there like to here what a guitar sound like playing rhythm parts not just running scales up and down. Good job! Thanx!😎
Appreciate it, the main reason I do that is because I do not really enjoy just lead noodling when I'm watching a gear demo so I try to just play some basic stuff
I believe Franklin sells B-stock. might be why there were surface scratches and why they're able to offer 30% off retail. I purchased the American Original II '51 Tele from Franklin and I also noticed surface scratches. But… it was an awesome deal and I plan to add many more scratches and dings myself, so I'm happy 👍 thanks for the review!
Franklin are an authorized dealer as well as one of the biggest refurbishers of instruments for all sorts of brands in the world. They really do give tremendous value, and they fix many errors company's make that somehow pass final QC.
I've been watching a ton of these review videos on this particular guitar lately. I just purchased one & can't wait for it to arrive. I have previously purchased the AVII 57 Stratocaster & the AVII 51 Telecaster & I've been floored by the quality & accuracy of they're vintage specs. Shocked to hear about some of these shipping with the wrong bridge. I've seen mine so I know it's correct. Hoping to be playing it in the next 24-48 hours.
I just unboxed it yesterday. It was set up & ready to rock right out of the case. I love it. The pickups are awesome & very well balanced. The middle position is killer. The neck is perfect & not sticky at all. I've got all my bases covered with the AVIIs.
Bought an AV2 57 Strat. Flawless out of the box. Zero complaints and excellent pickups. I'd like this Tele but have the AO version in surf green with binding. No need to add this although I'd probably prefer the 7.25 radius on yours. Nice review thanks.
Did you go with the seafoam? I love the way that color looks. Only thing "missing" from this model is the binding, but I held out on the AO's because I didn't really want the modern radius so I guess everything is a compromise so to speak haha. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
@@AudiomoMusic I did indeed go for the seafoam, upgraded from the equivalent Vintera model, I was sceptical but 100% worth it. Such a classic look. The binding is a win on the AO, the painted headstock is unique too. It's all a balance when it comes to spec, I'm just glad you found a USA Fender that you jive with. I knew as soon as you started playing that you were into it! Thanks again man, appreciate you sharing with us.
I appreciate the level of detail you put into these reviews. I was wondering if Fender was still doing the flash coat lacquer thin nitro like on the previous AV 2012-2017 guitars, and you answered my question within the first two minutes.
It's a big miss for me honestly, my AV 65 jazzmaster from that era is the best USA production guitar I've ever owned. I've played a few more of these AV ii's and even found I would consider to be pretty good overall and great by todays Fender standards ( kind of sad but it is what it is ) - however that line of AV's from 2012-2017 were the last truly amazing production guitars Fender has ever made.
One mod I cant live with out is a 4 way switch. I have to have series and parallel. I personally like 7.25-9.5 vintage compound, but that a special thing. I like the beefy neck same thickness of my 335. I just picked up a 72 thinline maybe I should have grabbed one of these while prices are in a dip. Next time I guess.
Thanks Marcus and it makes sense they would be, the formula is simple and out there for them to follow - it's a matter of if they actually get it together or not.
@@AudiomoMusic Yea I remember seeing your post about that. Glad things are levelling off for you now! Thanks for the reply. I have the two tone tele myself but am also looking to move it. It’s nice and the pickups are great but it’s just not for me. Cheers
Certainly looks the dogs to me, v v nice. Glad it plays and sounds as good as it looks to me. Of course, your playing ability has a lot to do with the sound:)....I'm very sceptical of the buying model Fender are going for on that price range, just don't think it is for me. IMO, guitars are v personal, and I like to try before I buy something that special even if it's by appointment. Faffing around because of mistakes is a real turn-off, but well done to the outlet in this instance.
Thanks James and I'm not so sure I would trust Fender to send me one sight unseen due to experiences I've had in the past but man... shouldn't be so much effort to find something that's in mass production that looks good enough to take a chance on.
You should check out Franklin Guitar works, they are licensed dealers and you can grab either model for about 500-600 less than you would at sweetwater.
Great playing, as usual. Your chord choices bring out the best of that beast!🎸😁. It still amazes me that such a simple design, is so hard and expensive to recreate. Your lucky that you went through a responsible dealer, Fender has multiple problems lately. ✌️&♥️
It's not even that it's expensive, there are plenty of places that do it just as good if not better but you don't get that name on the headstock which means a lot to some people and will also impact how much you'd be able to get for it if you ever decided to sell. I'd love to try a Momose against this back to back.
What a beauty! I have the same guitar in the same finish. I absolutely love it! One of the best telecaster neck pickups I've ever played. The neck profile is also unique and very comfortable. Somewhat thin until about the 3rd fret and then it starts getting quite chunky down the neck. Overall, it's a solid Telecaster! 🙌
Congrats on it and I agree the neck profile is great on it. It's definitely different from most modern Fender shapes but strangely it reminds me a lot of the early/mid 80's Japanese Fender reissues - which is a really good thing in my book.
The Tele really is the Swiss army knife of guitars. 😂🤣 A compliment like that from me is unheard of. I hated fenders until a year or so ago. Bought a sterling sss strat and love everything about it. I wasted a lot of years hating amazing guitars for way too many years for absolutely no reason. What a waste.
You look like you had fun playing and it sounds great but I could see that you did not had the same pure joy as when you were playing that Gibson 335 just saying
I think you're right, i was blown away by the 335. I really do like this guitar too but perhaps it just has to do with the fact that I'm just so used to telecasters that it takes something really special for me to get almost giddy about it.
Different shape, the 51 has a U and will be much thicker in the hands than this one. First fret thickness will also be noticably bigger than this guitars.
I receved the red one: fully scratch, definitily not usable out of the box, half of the stings buzzing from the 12th fret, and the orange interior of the flycase fall apart. The worst guitar i have ever purchase also the most highier price. Never seen that in 15 years of guitar and i have all kind of shovel: chinese, indonesian, japanese, usa... I still waiting my new one. (Sorry it's not firt language)
Oh man the case is not good at all. It's a disgrace they don't offer real G&G cases on the AV ii's and instead we get the MIC ones. Bummed you had such a bad experience but honestly none of what you dealt with surprises me... it's kind of a crapshoot with Fender these days.
I got a question, can I get a propose Country tone ( Luther Perkins -Don Rich) from a Strat ? I ask because I saw a beautiful strat recently. And mostly all teles look eh to me.
I dont know what it is, but you speak like youre reading off a teleprompter with an AI generated script scrolling on it. So it causes what you say to sound sort of disingenuous. You recorded the amp with the microphone right at the cone from the looks of it. Sort of sounded like the sound was coming out of a small malfunctioning radio. Just a few things you may be able to work on cause otherwise your production value is spot on.
It's funny you say that because I never write scripts. I tried once and it went so badly that I never attempted it again. I think my problem is I have so much I want to say and I am actively trying to slow down ( i normally speak pretty fast I grew up in NYC ) that it's awkward for me to speak slowly in general.
I really like the way you do your reviews. There's enough unique elements to differentiate yourself from the crowd.
Thanks Eric, I just try to approach things in a selfish way of what I would like to know or hear if I was looking for a guitar haha

Thoughts on this guitar vs. the American Vintage 2 (1951) and also the Road Worn Fenders
Fender is hiring for their shipping and e-commerce departments. Hopefully that helps things in the long term. You sounded great playing that guitar.
Thanks Marcus and it makes sense they would be, the formula is simple and out there for them to follow - it's a matter of if they actually get it together or not.
I have a feeling they are purposely making their guitars scarce because they intend to open a Fender store
Wow what speaker is in that Tone King? I'm loving that top end.
Stock speaker - a custom voiced celestion 12", just broken in really well.
That sounded great! Just wondering if you still have your two tone thinline telecaster ?
Hey Brisson I do not, a while back a bunch of things came and went, hurricanes and life comes at you fast but everything levels out in the end

Sonic blue is one of my all time favorite colors, but all those light blues do tend to fade sooner than others I find.

Nope, totally uniform for all pickups
