Turns out with a little investment and the right skills, Vander is just as capable as some of the late game units or early game units that have great growths up until the late game. I have no idea how he accomplished this task. But then I remembered something, LinkKing7 has a video regarding class growths in Engage before the DLC came out, and paladins in Engage aren't as screwed over as their Three Houses predecessors when it comes to their class growth rates. A few boosters here and there and Vander just mows down enemies.
@@johnathanedwards9054 I think it was one of Mekkah's videos, but I remember a comment of someone saying that making a good paladin is one of the most boring things in the series.
He's a Jagen. If he was an "Oifey." He would have a better chance gameplay wise (Seth from Sacred Stones and Titania from Path of Radiance! And of course Oifey himself from Genelogy of the Holy War Second Generation storyline who started this sub-archetype of the Jagen that can stay viable) Jagen's were BUILD to be useful early on as a "Get out of Jail Free" card for weaker enemies he can hit (as he can usually kill THOSE enemies) while damaging others enough for your other units to "feed EXP" off of by finishing them off (get more EXP killing enemies then getting into a fight) But this IS Engage! Similar to 3Houses you DO have the tools to make him "viable" like he's an Oifey! You just have to accept certain "things about him" (First part being I think he's considered a Level 15 Axe Cavalier who promoted at that level so he's Internal Level 16! So laughable don't expect EXP for him much till start facing enemies in that Level range! His bases though I feel they went TOO far in trying not to make him a gamebreaker early on because Jagens are a TRAP for newbies who make the mistake of overusing him and making him a EXP Hog in a WORSE way that by the point the enemies are THREATENING them! Your party SUFFERS! So to avoid "Resets" they made him WEAKER! It's been a LONG time since a Jagen appeared when I think about it! Gunter is only a Jagen in Revelations; Not a SINGLE Jagen in 3Houses unless you count Gilbert in Azure Moon since that route is more "Traditional" FE storyline wise! What with Dimitri being the more "Marth" of the three Lords!) He's got good HP and okay DEF! I'd keep him away from Mages like the PLAGUE! And he's good at SETTING enemies up to be killed for your other units! (Made him a AXE/LANCE Great Knight and slapped the Three House Lords Bracelet on him and he was a GOOD carry till I got Veyle since I use him as a PLACEHOLDER for her if I'm not using him long term cause I ALWAYS use Veyle in all my playthroughs! Even his weapons are those I can afford to sell/Well Fodder once she joins, or give to those who ARE long term who can utilize those weapons! Vander was built similar to Frederick from Awakening! To the point I started thinking "this was him if he reached old age!" Which is funny cause Marcus from Lyn and Roy's game is BOTH a Oifey in Lyn's game AND a Jagen in Roy's game! Note he's IN HIS MID AGE in Lyn's period of time, but OLD in Roy's) (Sorry in advance for the large reply)
