    The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States in which its fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA's) Division I, with its football teams competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest levels for athletic competition in US-based collegiate sports. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. ACC teams and athletes have claimed dozens of national championships in multiple sports throughout the conference's history. Generally, the ACC's top athletes and teams in any particular sport in a given year are considered to be among the top collegiate competitors in the nation. The ACC is considered to be one of the six collegiate power conferences, all of which enjoy extensive media coverage and automatic qualifying for their football champion into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an "access bowl", the successors to the BCS.
    Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.

      If we win out, we have a decent chance. Michigan still has to play Ohio State, so one of them will drop. Plus, we are going to have another top ten matchup late in the year vs Houston, at Houston. The only variable is if Washington goes undefeated...

    • @bostevens8516
      @bostevens8516 8 лет назад

      If Louisville wins out they're almost definitely in. Unless Houston just implodes and is unranked by the time Louisville plays them it's going to be hard to keep them out. FSU is hurting your SOS at this point when they were supposed to be the big marquee win until you faced Clemson. Still, losing to Clemson by less than a TD in Clemson is going to get a lot of respect. We saw how much credit Notre dame got for doing the same last year.

    • @mrtron1850
      @mrtron1850 8 лет назад

      Only way they let Louisville into the playoffs is if both the Pac12 and Big 12 champions have 2 losses. They won't leave out a 1-loss conference champion for a team that didn't even win their division.

    • @kalvinbaber6042
      @kalvinbaber6042 8 лет назад

      +MrTron quick question, I like your college ftball spirit no homo, I'm assuming at this moment, you have Baylor to Win the Big 12 n Washington to Win to Win the Pac 12 right? If so,I can't argue those Picks so I agree (TCU stinks this yr n Oklahoma is underachieving And Washington jus Smacked Stanford..) HOWEVER if Wash or Baylor is Undefeated or 1 Loss, do you think their Strength of Schedule is Better than a 1 Loss Louisville Team (1 Loss AFTER they Beat #6 Houston in Nov)? Because I don't, if n when Louisville Beat #6 Houston in Nov, Louisville Will be in the College Playoffs buddy, book it.. regardless what the Pac 12 or Big 12 do..

    • @TheLite0003
      @TheLite0003 2 месяца назад

      @@garyhill6329 ok..that's what I was getting at. Maybe there's an argument for offensive PI.
      Just want to be clear that there is nothing wrong with receiver route combinations that create natural crosses, rubs, meshes...whatever you want to call it. You just can't block downfield before a pass is thrown or purposefully hinder the defensive player from making a play on the ball.

    • @garyhill6329
      @garyhill6329 2 месяца назад

      @@TheLite0003 Of course, the intent of a designed rub is to create a "pick" effect. Of course, it's a tricky judgement call, and as I understand the rule, the question comes down to intent. So, was the contact intentional, and second, did the receiver knowingly cut off a defender to spring someone else open, or was the receiver just running a route and things got congested? If you watch the two pick / rub plays for TD's Clemson vs Alabama 2016 title game, the contact was certainly intentional (the slot receiver is essentially blocking the DB back into the DB trying to follow the WR motioning across the field left to right), and there's basically no effort to run a route in either play - the earlier TD, or the game winner. The officiating crew was warned after the first one, and they chose to let it slide the second time on an identical play.

    • @TheLite0003
      @TheLite0003 2 месяца назад

      @@garyhill6329 On that last play in the 2016 championship game, there is nothing that anyone can point to to demonstrate a clear offensive pass interference on the outside receiver. He ran his slant route, the db engaged him, the receiver stumbled to the ground in front of the db that initiated the engagement, ball was thrown. There is no definitive offensive pass interference here. You'll have to link the other rub route, I don't recall that one.
      ruclips.net/video/2IVRNumSofg/видео.html
      You can easily distinguish the Clemson play from the Notre Dame plays against FSU, where the #2 receiver on both the touchdown and the offensive pass interference call, obviously had no intention of running a route and specifically went to blocking the defender. Literally nothing comparable to Clemson's game winning TD in the national championship.

      If you wanna talk about "what ifs", then we could go back to the interception in the end zone, where Watson threw it slightly behind Williams giving Alexander a chance to intercept, which he did. Also, what if Leggett (who said that he's never fumbled in his entire career, even in practice) had not fumbled and got that TD? So that's 2 more Tiger TDs compared to that one more TD for the Cards at the end. The "what if" final score is 56-43, which I think would qualify as Clemson winning by far 😉

      kingadalou well keep in mind right now for us to get back in the top 4 / 5 right now we gotta hope
      whoever wins between Tennessee and Texas a and m. That Alabama beats them and somewhat more importantly Alabama beats the loser too . Because if Alabama beats the winner that will drop off the winner just below us and that will drop them and they will never rise again. (Unless Texas a and m wins and they lost to Alabama and then they beat lsu and ole miss. There's a chance Texas a and m could jump us.) If the loser of Texas a and m and Tennessee beats Alabama there's a HUGE chance Alabama drops right in front of us. (Like Alabama would be 6 and Louisville would be 7 ). Pretty much stopping us from moving up any.
      Of course we gotta beat Houston but we need Houston to continue being great.but Houston itself has challenges like navy and smu before us.
      We also have to hope Miami loses somewhere in the next 2 weeks (Florida State and north Carolina) or else they could jump us and they would probably be front of us until they lose to Clemson in this acc championship. Pittsburgh is somewhat of a challenge to them but Miami is probably going to win.
      Wisconsin and Nebraska depend on us. They need us to lose a game . (Besides Houston) for them to really to jump us . The only exception would be if they blow out Ohio State like we did with Florida State.
      We also have to hope Washington loses somewhere . They have several challenges in Oregon (at the end of day it's still Oregon) , Utah ,cal , usc ,Washington State and whoever they face in the pic 12 championship(of course if they if they get there and they'll probably face Colorado).
      And last we need Michigan and Ohio State to win out until they play each other. That way when they play each other that way if one of them loses and beats the other team . That team would jump us.
      Clemson can win out for all we care and we'll be OK.

      Rankings do not matter. Winning takes care of all that. The only reason that the Cards did not fall as hard is because Lamar Jackson met the challenge--and with very little help from his defense/team, I might add.
