REALIGNMENT CONFUSION: PAC 12 Teams Homeless for a Month

- As the sun set on the Pac 12 this weekend and as we get ready for Big Ten college football, let us clear up some confusion. With the Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA flight from the Pac 12 they still are not quite in the Big Ten - yet. They will be homeless for about a month. Their official start date as full members of the Big Ten Conference begins August 2nd.

Until then we look at where each of the four Pac 12 football teams are in their journey to join the Big Ten. Oregon and USC look ready out of the box. Washington is a complete mystery and UCLA has some work to do. We will look at each of them and the most difficult game on each of their college football schedules.

Recruiting is crazy. Keeping up with it is a full time job. We will have updates from Penn State, Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan and UCLA just to name a few. There are a lot of wins and losses on the board. Tune in for the latest.

As an International supporter I loved the PAC Network as it broadcasted on YT for free
Lots of changes and I'm a Northwestern alum so I get more changes: temporary stadium which is currently under construction on the lake, new OC and other coaches, first full year of Braun, new AD, and unfortunately the death of the west.
We still retain Wisconsin and Iowa on our schedule which are the 2 teams we love to hate.
We planned to go out to Seattle, but we have a schedule conflict ;-(
We will probably do our normal AA trip. I wish it weren't so late as the big house row 90-ish gets cold in late November.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want USC’s schedule this year. It’s brutal. Ours is a bit rough too. But USC’s is harder.
UCLA's schedule is very tough too. Big 10 slate of games plus at LSU.
USC will go 4-8 and their fans will make excuses.

Nice video. Being a life time U of W Husky fan : I never considered them not being a PAC team. I understand things change. It will be an interesting season for sure. Let's hope we have a competitive season this year. Go Purple and Gold ( DAWGS ).

I would really like to see Utah join the big 10 as soon as they possibly could.

They sit in Mountain Time Zone. They bridge the gap and help travel for those schools out west. They receive a decent tv rating. SLC metro is growing. They’ve been very competitive in football and basketball. Their brand of football is physicality, and they fit the B1G football style.
They are an AAU member with a good medical school.
If you really think about it, they are similar to a Wisconsin and Michigan State

Big 10 isn’t interested in Utah, they really didn’t want Oregon and Washington that much.
Utah is fortunate to be in the big 12, that’s where they fit best, you need the Texas recruiting exposure.
Utah was in the mountains west at one time, be glad the big 12 threw you a lifeline.

First of all, I’m not a Ute fan. I respect them, but I’m an Oregon fan. Utah plays physical football, they fill a Time Zone, and they have very good academics.

Oregon vs Ohio St is touted as one of the biggest games this season. Two top 5 teams matching up against each other is huge. This is exactly what the B1G and FOX wanted. Wash vs Mich is another huge win for the conf and FOX. Have you ever looked at the tv rankings? Both Oregon and Washington sit in the top 15 most watched teams. These two teams bumped the B1G National standing as the most watched conference in the nation. It’s why they were chosen over Stanford/Cal.

It's not going to happen. Utah doesn't offer anything. If they go out west (which they won't) big 10 more likely to get into arizona than utah. But most likely they will expand out east instead.
Many don't realize that Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M initially approached the B1G as part of a package of five Big 12 schools to see if the Big Ten was interested. The response was positive, but only Nebraska was chosen for an individual agreement-source: Omaha World-Herald.
So, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are schools that settled for the SEC.
Also, Texas contacted the Big 10 after Penn State was admitted into the conference in the 1990's.
@@joshbazon2764 The Upper Midwest Football Conference was actually Penn State's THIRD (and basically LAST) choice. The Second was the ACC, but The Carolina Basketball Conference basically has basketballs stuck too far up their ass to be able to use their brains to realize FOOTBALL is where it's at!! and THAT'S WHY FSU and Clemson want out now too!

Imagine if the Big 10 added 2 more West Coast teams, split into 2 divisions and had the Championship game in Pasadena.... maybe call it the "Rose Bowl".

@@parkerj344 except that might kill their plans of adding ACC teams. When it comes down to it if you can add Wash St and Oregon St and or Utah but it costs you the ability to add Florida State and Clemson and or Miami then that is not smart.
It's just the PAC-12 Network that went lights out, because the contract was to the end of June. The four schools are still in the PAC-12 until August 1, because their GOR to the PAC-12 doesn't expire until August 1. The 10 departing schools lost their VOTE when they accepted invitations to league, as is normal for conferences, but they are still technically members, despite the fact that the two remaining members took the 10 school's logo off at the website.
Interesting. But not sure what the ramifications are. I suppose there may be some. But, it’s a done deal as you know. They are one of ours now. Here is a question. Are all the Rose Bowl games going to be part of the playoff system going forward? If not, who does the Big Ten play in it?

I don't like how they do their rankings. I used 247 website and arranged the teams by AVERAGES and not totals and the list changes quite a bit. I also only tabulated for schools with at least 5 recruits so far. Kentucky was 21, UCF was 22, S. Carolina was 23, and Wisconsin was 24. Rutgers was still below all of them.

Clemson fsu duke and unc would be a coup if they pulled that off but sec may have some input into it as well…..duke and unc do minimal from a football standpoint but that rivalry in basketball especially and they are AAU schools.

I think OU and Texas were just simply happy to finally leave the big 12. The conference that was screwing them over financially. I'd celebrate too if I left I POS conference for a better one.

Historically , USC defrense was never an issue and peopl are using Reily's 2 seasons as the yardstick to gauge the Trojans expectations. I think people are sleeping on USC and the Big 10 sans OSU and Michigan are a glorified Big 12...
USC will be lucky to go above .500. To compare the Big Ten to the Big 12 is laughable. Utah is head and shoulders the best program in that conference, they're maybe the 7th best program in the big ten.

USC has more defensive NFL hall of Famers than any program in the Country. The only 2 Big10 teams that can sit next to USC historically is USC. Like for real bro are you just crazy? @49erLA No one cares about the pete Pete Carrol era back when games were broadcasted in 480p bub. Snoop Dog and Will Ferrell dipped out a long time ago, the pac 12 went wayyyyyyyyyy downhill and USC slid with it. They can't tackle, and I mean the entire conference can't tackle. Watching the pac 12 championship every year was a joke, it was like a nationally broadcasted clinic on horrible defense and horrible tackling. I've legitimately, no joke, seen better tackling from D3 HS teams in the middle of no where. I say again, USC will be lucky to go above .500. I'd favor Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Forget the big boys, they'll get smoked.
@lawrencemora2826 The PAC 10/12 is not what it used to be. Those head to heads from ancient times mean nothing. The PAC 12 does not have the talent across the board and haven't for years. USC can be competitive in the Big Ten, but if that does happen, it will be years down the road. I don't see it going well early at all, especially with your absolutely anemic fairweather fanbase. Doesn't help that you have to go undefeated to get people to pack out your home stadium.
18 teams with 9 conference games, tiebreakers are going to be ugly if the big ten is top heavy

Those are the 3 biggies on the schedule. If they win one of them they are in the playoffs.
Washington, Oregon and USC will upgrade the B1G. UCLA has been pretty mediocre for a long time in the Pac. They will struggle to compete in a tougher league.
