    Congratulations. You are the only one on RUclips that simply shows the GPS functionality of these radios, I had a hard time finding you. The radio I am looking for is the same but under the Abree AR-869 brand. Thank you.

      I agree, i have also been looking for “what can you do with the GPS feature” of this radio. However, from what I’m seeing in other reviews, some of the software functions like GPS may not be set up the same across the different brands for this radio.

    Thanks for putting this out. I just acquired a pair of Radtel 490's. What I found out was that the Interrogating radio (#1) has to transmit the data burst on GPS coordinates screen that says #2. I'm going to do some experiments to see how far away the units have to be to show up as a "●" on the "compass". The return data burst or "handshake" makes these very much like the Yaesu ARTS. No return handshake, out of range. Yaesu is automatic. These are "manual".

    Pretty cool! I wish they had set this up for APRS though.

      For sure... They got the hardware already...why not just got the extra step? That said, for the price and the number of bands they support, definitely a great option to keep in your go bag.

    I have a Radtel RT-620 with GPS. Your video here is helpful. I've connected it to Radtels Radio Programming Software. There is no interface to Repeater Book or alike. How do you import repeater date to your MML as I assume you use the brand's similar Radio Programming Software?

      Admittedly, I have only used the Bluetooth based phone app for programming these radios, labeled as "Super Walkie-talkie" (I was hesitant to install it because of the super generic name and overly-Chinese nature of the UI). The app allows you to define the RX frequency and TX offset for each channel you program, as well as any PL tones in both directions. I don't believe it has the ability to download pre-defined repeater lists/data, but once you've defined your own, you can back them up within the app. I haven't checked if Chirp or the like already have support for these radios.
      Sorry for the blind leading the blind situation! Hope you are able to find a better way to go about it...especially if your area has a lot of active repeaters...whole lot of typing with wee keys!
      Cheers!

    I think the distance in meter is for gps error. Did you tried to see other radio at distance?

      There's definitely a variance in GPS coordinate readings between units but also it takes some time (longer than dedicated handheld GPS units) for them to acquire enough satellites. I notice from time to time it can take several minutes before 1 of the units even registers a coordinate at all. Not the greatest built-in GPS but for the price they're good enough.

    Have you been able to use the Android APP? I've been looking for it for two years and there's no way.

    Will this radio communicate with the GPS features of the BTech GMRS Pro ?

    • @BreakingPintMedia
      @BreakingPintMedia  Год назад +1

      I don't believe so. This radio does support GMRS frequencies but there are likely variances to the data exchange protocols used by both manufacturers. Also, GMRS location data is a fairly new thing, and the JIANPAI radios are primarily meant to be used on ham bands (they're not FCC certified for GMRS).

    Where do you get the link to Bluetooth this damn radio

    By fsvor, send the link for the Android APP. Thank you

      Hello! I can't link through RUclips as they disallow that, but if you Google "Radtel RT490 bluetooth software" it should show you Radtel's firmware and software download page towards the top search results. The Android APK you want is for the RT490, which is functionally the same radio. Use precaution when downloading and installing APK files off the Internet as they have been known to contain malicious code from time to time.
      Hope that helps!
