I know it was a guitar competition, but you could definitely hear that all the drums were done by guitarists. ::D It made me think about that being one of the issues with modern metal. Too many guitarists writing drums instead of drummers.
Eh well that was kind of the point. Actually all done by the same guy (guitarrist, bassist, producer, provider of drums samples and host of this video)😅 and it is always the SAME track or at least MIDI. So yeah I'm not sure you realized that it's the same but don't disrespect the guitarists for this. It's all Kohles fault. He is the issue with modern metal 🤣
yep I got you, it's about how the drumtrack was composed. Generally as a non-drummer I like it to jam to it and sounds killer but yep.. Did my entry with a drummer who helped recording and he said that too. The only thing that felt odd to me was the cymbals in the last part though. And I think there's a tom fill that's weird
@@felixmueller8014 Wait. Are you telling me that people just sent riffs and then someone just put the drums to all the entries? Well that explain why they sounded pretty much the same. If it is so, .. well I'm backing from my statement because it is all over metal now days. Rhythm is basically quarter note cymbal, half time snare, kicks in unison with 0 chug chug with more or less creative rhythms. I also know people who don't think that metal needs anything more. I'd say that rock has disappeared from metal. :d
@@Chesus78 Hah nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that :d I mean yeah, I understand the fact that if you just want to have a beat for your riff, the easy way is just to do unison kicks and linear cymbals and stuff. It's simple and it works. But I surely mean no disrespect. As a drummer, my guitar parts are boring as fuck. So the same idea also works the other way around too. There are just less drummers making solo music than there are guitarists. But it's better than it used to be. Back in the days "guitarists writing drums" meant like inhumanely fast doublekicks and fills that require 5 arms. Maybe my actual point is that the bedroom musicianship is in this way also bad for music. Creating an idea, jamming it our as a band or composing drums over guitars on the kit instead of writing it out on MIDI is a whole different process with different out come. I wrote my bands drums mostly on MIDI for the past record.. This time I chose not to touch MIDI and I'm writing the drums at the kit. So far it's been great. :D But I made that choice because I realized how differently I think on the kit and how much more creative and musical the outcome is.
@@OlliLappalainen No! What I am saying is that there was a drum track that was provided that everyone used. It was in form of a wav. or MIDI file created by Kristian Kohle. The drums are the SAME....no alike, not similar, not in the style of....they are exactly the SAME!!! Drop the bias and open your ears! ruclips.net/video/mwLjPhPXqMo/видео.html That's why everyone has a similar breakdown part. The drums dictate it. I personally think it's incredible that the more than a hundred entries of the contest all have something very unique to them. I personally enjoyed working with the track and tried to follow the rhythm with guitars and bass. Knowing a lot of other contenders would"kicks in unison with 0 chug chug" I moved away from the 000. All this got me to write out of my regular habits. I agree that a real drummer brings something totally different to the table than a guitar guy clicking midis together but we also need to accept that a different approach necessarily isn't wrong or bad. But yeah, sometimes it can suck.
Killer stuff.....I wish I hadn't and "automatic" switch that as soon as I see more than 6 strings I dislike it no matter what they will play......I miss the school of "Jerry Cantrell" soul=hard playing.....
Which one is your favorite?

That's why everyone has a similar breakdown part.
Wow. Bogren looks 20 years younger.
Haha! Exactly!

You are welcome 😘🤣
These were some amazing songs, I also feel like a shit musician after watching these, hah. Dave P's entry was no.1 for me for the atmosphere alone.
Is this really Jens?!
Jens is on vacation. We needed a double and that was the best we could do on such a short notice.
@@Bogren.Digital haha
Killer stuff.....I wish I hadn't and "automatic" switch that as soon as I see more than 6 strings I dislike it no matter what they will play......I miss the school of "Jerry Cantrell" soul=hard playing.....
Denis Dudin was the best pho sho.

I even spent a whole 20 minutes drinking that bottle of Bourbon to spend 5 minutes writing and recording.
For me, the Filip Ficho Bochevski's take was too common, kind of. It was just like a typical sterile metal.
That's just what I felt.
