@@jlm10181978 I kinda prefer this way for first time listeners of the band, as the main criticism for metal bands for first time listeners is "I CANT UNDERSTAND THE WORDS" and they just assume there are no words in it. This form gives a better first impression to listeners, even if it's not their type of music. At the very least they leave the genre respecting it instead of having the same boring, baseless negative opinion as everyone else. Also I like this version because it was shot in the Somerset Amphitheatre in my home state lol.

Corey had phenomenal growls along with cleans. Check out Slipknot - Solway Firth from their last album. One of their best.

I was 16 when Slipknot came out, and my mind was blown. I grew up on metal from my older brother, but I never heard a sound like their first album.
The DJ (Sid) is a DJ in his own rights and goes by the name DJ Starscream (obviously a fan of Transformers when he chose that name 🤣)

They had a close 'rivalry' with a band called mushroomhead because of the music style and aesthetics. Slipknot fans were insistent slipknot came first but I think mushroom head started in '93 and slipknot started in '96 ish. One bands fans kicked off against the others and it escalated. They've since patched things up and possibly even performed together. Check out a song called solitaire unravelling by mushroomhead.

I think Slipknot has one of the best musical progressions over their career. Some of the things they've dealt with personally really resonate in their music.
As a Mushroomhead fan I respect and kinda love this song. Believe that matters...
Vol 3 usually is my intro album for new listeners, then depending on their reception move into newer or older slipknot. definitely wanna see more!
Seen them live in 1998, when they were still handing out free 4 track cassettes(I still have it somewhere?), and only wore red. They were on the 2nd stage of an Ozzfest Tour, but got stuck playing while Slayer was on the main stage, but still drew a very large, curious crowd!
This song is actually much harder on CD but was made for Mtv with tuned down and legible vocals. It's the only time you'll ever hear this song like this. Radio friendly.

This is the MTV so called easy listening version. The album version is all screams during the verses.
This is the worst version to be the first exposure to Slipknot. This radio version sounds like a karaoke version. It was painful to listen to but I’m glad you have tried Slipknot. Listen to Eyeless next. It will make up for this one. Please try some Rage Against the Machine.
I know what you mean, but maybe the radio version is a bit more mass appealing. It might be the perfect version for a first time listening. Just enough to get peopl0e curious enough to check out the rest of their music.

This is the radio edit, the album version has screaming in the verses. Also the video was recorded during 1999 when they played Ozzfest, not sure the city

I think this video is from Mancow's Lazer Luau in maybe 1999? It was a metal festival in Ankeny, Iowa. I was there. It was a good show. I think I have the video on a promo VHS tape from that time.
The audio in that video is not the studio version. It may be from the sound board and doctored up, but it's not the album version.
If you really want to hear Corey Taylor's vocal range he is also the lead singer of the band "Stone Sour" some great songs to look into are "through glass", "song #3", "bother" it's crazy to think of both bands and how vastly different their sounds are and hear them lead by the same vocalist

This was july 31st 1999 mancow lazerluau Ankeny iowa this was after they came off from ozzfest. Their first uk run was later in the year. That's funny I have the audio aka the FM version of leeds 2000 but it's a incomplete set

They're from Iowa! Where I'm from as well. That's also the name of their debut album.
I hate to be that guy.. But there first studio album was self titled "Slipknot" and before that they had an earlier album with the old lead singer on it. "Iowa" was there second studio album. I do not mean to throw any shade, just bringing some facts :)
