      Nooo! if you put bbq sauce on the outside of the bacon, the bacon not gonna pick up any smoke, wasn't that the reason you smoking them in the first place :D Like spareribs, you let them pick up the smoke flavor first and near the end of the cooking you put the sauce on the outside :D

      The difference here is it helps in cooking the shells. The have to stay moist.

      That was a smart idea - brushing the sauce onto the bacon strips and then wrapping with the sauce-coated side contacting the pasta to help soften it.
      Can you use cream cheese instead of Velveeta?

    I need to make a lot of these for our annual neighborhood picnic. Will they keep overnight in the refrigerator or will the shells get soggy?

    The problem I had was the trapped air inside made the second side very difficult to fill. Did about 2 dozen as you suggested and then did 30 more by filling with cheese (from one side, no trapped air) then wrapping them in sausage then bacon. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow when they hit the smoker. Love the size. This is one of four smoked finger foods I’ll be smoking for a gathering tomorrow.

    Great idea I really hate stuffing them by hand it takes so long...

    • @virginiawilliams8648
      @virginiawilliams8648 Год назад

      You can use a zip lock bag and just cut the corner out like a pastry liner..makes them a lot easier to fill😊

    • @RACZBBQ
      @RACZBBQ  Год назад +1

      I tried that and with the density of the mixture it was just easier to stuff them this way.

    It takes an hour to fill about 30 or more. But it only takes like 3 minutes for them to be consumed. Lol they are super good. Great video bud.

    Could you make them the evening before then smoke them in the morning or would they get to soft?

      I'm just thinkin when I make these that's what I'm going to call them! Or calling them the buffalo round. Which is a 45-70!!!
      Thank you for making YT fun to watch and learning how to make a few good eats.... 👍👍👍

    • @RACZBBQ
      @RACZBBQ  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks man. I appreciate that! I thought about . 44 .45 , but then there is a mini shotgun shell so decided on that. It was really more about people finding it when searching for the larger shotgun shell recipe that people make. Call them what you like. Maybe they'll get popular some day and take on that name!
