Beelink SER8 AMD Ryzen 8845HS Наука
Absolutely rocking review and excited you and others are reviewing them. Been gradually moving from NUC to Bee-Link for a number of years now and have a enough units in operation long enough to get confidence in the quality of the hardware. My only critiques; please make the support website better/faster with more frequent firmware etc. updates. Overall, I believe Bee-Link is delivering an incredible value.
Thanks for the focus on mini pc’s the hardware is getting so powerful and the open source software is so resource optimized, you can run a whole virtualized server suite with 200-300 bucks nowadays
I recently deployed a dozen of the SER 5 with Ryzen 5 5560U (6C/12T) CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 500GB NVMe SSD for just over $340 ea CAD. The staff at the school are very happy with them.
What a fantastic value these Beelink mini PCs provide, the performance has been excellent and the included VESA mount makes them such a tidy hardware install. The dual 4k display support is also nice, as is the inclusion of a RJ45 jack. No complaints!
Nice review. I have been thinking about shrinking my home lab and a number of these form factors would work. So much power in a little box not to mention the lower power draw. Thanks for the review.
Quite interesting, would like to see how this evolves with the software and potential use cases for homelab
Thankfully, Beelink ditched the magnetic power connector and went back to a reliable barrel connector for the SER8.
Can you run “slmgr /dlv” to see if it’s using a volume multiple activation key or retail/oem? Some manufacturers are using enterprise volume keys that aren’t for resale. Sounds like a great mini pc!
Hmm. I think I might be inclined to build a miniature Corsi-Rosenthal filter box to sit under it, so as to get HEPA grade air filtering on the input.
I wonder how this would be as a low power NAS.
Speaking of NAS, what do you think of HexOS, as I wish that was out already lol, as I like TrueNAS but its too much work & complicated for me (and I dont like unraids way of doing things)
please review Minisforum MS01
Surprised they don't offer more nics at this price point. Not sure if it was mentioned, intel nic or rtl?
But what gen are the USB-C? that could have a huge impact, its the difference between adding an thumb-drive or an eGPU..
From the thumbnail I thought "4 SFP ports? Neat!"
Did you say you ran a hypervisor and then a windows VM on it? What's the 'AI' in the title of the device? Seems like everyone is just slapping 'AI' in the name of everything now. Thanks for the review, seems like a decent little device for lab work.
I ran Proxmox, XCP-ng, and then reloaded it back to Windows for more testing. The AMD NPU is a new AMD feature, but as noted in the video the software is not really out yet to take advantage of it.
Tom also showed some benchmarks that had been run on this box, which I think might also be useful.
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMS Thank you.
Pretty nifty hardware, but i cannot understand what is the usecase for those? Any ideas?
My concern with these mini PCs is that most of them do not provide BIOS updates...
Random thought I just had. Are mini PCs good for using as a streaming and recording PC in dual a PC setup?
No.
720 maybe.. not real world 2024 streaming
Surely would have been better to put the filter on the bottom so it could be removed without having to remove 6 screws.
Can the logo be removed? I would like to find a black windows four square sticker to cover it.
🤔
Yes on the cheap ssd. Got a cheap one and it crashed within months
1 Gbit Ethernet ist so outdated
It needs 2x 2.5GbE nics to be really useful.
GHz or Hz is frequency.
you mean Gbps. right?
@@user-bn4rb3tn3y Actually, I meant GbE
@@MarkConstableoh, thats right too.
and I hope that too
That should be the bare minimum, I'd like to see 2x10GBase be standard. I don't understand the purpose of standardizing 2.5gb, especially when the cost difference isn't wide enough from 10gbe to make sense.
What? No, 2.5gbe.
given the price it's a hard pass lol
I know AI is being forced on us, but to actually go out of our way to support AI? No thanks.
